I love this place but last visit I ordered a $13 or so catfish po boy and it had half a filet on it. I will be back but I won't ever order that again. I can imagine thinking that is acceptable for an adult at that price point. I've order 50 catfish po boys or so in my life and I have never seen anything like it. They were very accommodating for our group of 9. I don't know the name of our server but she was blonde and pretty, so you can't miss her. She took very good care of us. Service was pretty fast. the catfish was very good. The only small complaint was that the fries were too salty. Outside of that, we will go back next time we are in town. read more

I had the Catfish "NORA" which mine consisted of fresh Mississippi Delta catfish, coleslaw, pinto beans and hush puppies. I added a side of Cajun fries. The taste was really good. The fries were more salty than expected but still good for me. Hush puppies tasted great. The staffed (hostess/cashier and waitress) was very friendly. Stopped in for lunch. Quickly seated with a warm welcome. Drinks were brought out quickly & we were asked detailed questions about what we'd like to order. Hubby ordered the 4 piece catfish. He liked the beans & slaw. I only wanted 2 pieces of fish & fries but they don't serve it that way. So I ordered the po boy & only ate the fish/fries. I did taste the French bread that everyone has mentioned & it was fresh & tasty. We're from FL and the catfish was probably the best we've ever had! Beware- the Cajun fries are hot! The only negative I could find is that they have limited sides. Glad we stopped by! read more

We stopped to eat lunch here as recommended to us while visiting downtown Hardy. It's a cute restaurant with very friendly and efficient staff which really stood out. We walked by the window earlier, and the owner stepped out to greet us and invite us in even! We returned later, to be served by a genuinely friendly lady who helped us order our 4 piece catfish lunch to share with a fried mushroom appetizer, vs the 6 piece. It was plenty, and we were just able to finish every bite. The fried mushrooms were super fresh and super crispy. The catfish were lightly breaded in cornmeal, and were crispy as well, with zero greasiness. The pinto beans were good too, topped with the chopped onions, and the coleslaw was super finely shredded cabbage with a vinegar based dressing. They gave us a couple extra hush puppies too since we were sharing too. How hospitable! It was a great lunch, and I recommend it! read more

Would not recommend. Didn't even sit before leaving because the customer service was so awful. Other employees seemed nice, but the one we encountered was one of the rudest people I've been around- if not the owner then she should be fired. Wish our experience was different, but happy we didn't give them our money and got the opportunity to go down the street to a much better place. read more

Excellent fried catfish & shrimp po-boy. Crispy and flaky fish with pinto beans, coleslaw and hushpuppies. Po-boy was on authentic New Orleans French roll and served with a super romalade sauce & Cajun fries. Pinto beans, coleslaw & fries were delicious! The kitchen forgot our hushpuppies and we were through eating by the time they arrived, but they were also delicious. If we lived nearby, we would be back. read more

Venora and Jim (the owners) make you feel like you are just visiting their kitchen. I have tried most everything on the menu, my favorite is the oyster po-boy! But everything has been great, they have had a few changes from when they first opened but all have been for the better. Their catfish is the best around period! Home made beans and hush puppies are always the first things I ask for and they never disappoint! This week they started serving breakfast and the scratch made sausage gravy is better than I make at home! Stop by and visit, you will not be disappointed. read more

We've gotten takeout from the Cross-eyed Catfish a couple of times, but this was our first time to eat in. This time we both got a 4 piece basket with slaw & beans. The fish is crispy but not dry; hush puppies were buttery & delish. Slaw & beans were pretty typical for the area. The real stand outs were the efficient, sassy-but-nice service, & the strawberry shortbread dessert. Local strawberries, homemade glaze (not too sweet), homemade shortbread (almost like pie crust), & lots of whipped cream. We will be back! read more

Horrible staff and customer service! I only wish I could leave less than one star. My son and his girlfriend were eating inside and the rest of my family were planning on eating after I checked on him - since he had gotten car sick on the way into town. I walked in and started pulling my mask out after I realized I didn't have it on and a woman basically pushed me back out and shut the door on me. Ok - my bad. I came back in with the mask and walked to my son's table to talk to him. The same woman started aggressively telling me I couldn't stand there - that I had to go to my own table. I explained this was my son but she wouldn't listen. The rest of my family was being seated. She started yelling louder that if I didn't get to my own table I had to leave - very bizarre. So I walked to the rest of my family and told them we better go - and that's when the same older woman told me to head on to McDonald's around the corner. All of this because I was trying to make sure my son was feeling better. So I didn't get to try the food - all because of this super awful very unfriendly older woman. If you check the front door - you may still be able to see the print where she she slammed it on me. Thankfully we walked down the street to Leaves & Beans which was the best food in town! So - a blessing in disguise. read more

I'll start with the food because it was the least note worthy part of our dining experience, I had a burger while my wife had chicken. Burger was slightly above par and chicken was good. Now onto the service. We ordered a starter (mozzarella sticks) and were offered either ranch or marinara with it. We said ranch, we received marinara. Not a big deal on its own, however we then asked another server for ranch and it never came. When ordering our meal, we asked for ranch and ketchup for our food. When the meal arrived we had neither ranch nor ketchup. Had to once again ask another server, however this time we received both after requesting again. We were not asked once during our meal how it was or if we needed anything, unlike the tables surrounding us. After we had finished the meal I had a question about the desert sitting in the fridge behind me. I quietly said to a waitress as she was finishing up with a near-by table,"excuse me". She held up a finger as to say "hold on". Very rude to begin with, however once she emerged from the the kitchen she completely ignored us as if we had never had a question. Food was average, service was horrendous. If the food were 20-times better I still wouldn't subject myself or friends/family to the quality of service. Will not be returning. read more

If you're looking for the best catfish in the area look no further. Excellent, well-seasoned fish with very good sides. We've been eating in the Hardy - Ash Flat region for more than 30 years so are very pleased with the addition of Cross-eyed Catfish to the local scene. read more

The food was delicious! Impressed by the fact they use Leidenheimer French bread for their Po-Boys.

The owner of the restaurant was very rude to a customer while I was eating here. She shouted at the customer across the whole restaurant just because the customer was trying to talk to her son who was at a different table than her, yelling that she had to sit at her own table. The owner seemed overly controlling and not hospitable at all to her customers. It made me and others in the restaurant feel very uncomfortable and created a very negative environment. Food was okay, but nothing special. I recommend eating somewhere else on the street- where there's nicer staff and better tasting food. read more

Great spot in downtown Hardy. Space was nice and clean. Service was great and attentive. Fish was delicious. We will definitely return soon. Bread that they advertise for their Po-Boys is the famous Leidenhamer's bread that I love from New Orleans. Didn't have any, but pretty impressive they offer it in Arkansas. read more
