I took my PRS Angelus SE acoustic to Leo with a badly warped neck. After trying unsuccessfully to resolve the issue myself with a truss rod adjustment, it was sadly no longer playable. Leo worked his usual magic - refashioning the neck via removing an unfortunate hump and tapering the neck tail down towards the body and also slightly lowering the bridge. It now plays beautifully again! Leo is without doubt a guitar genius! read more

Leo has yet again worked his magic. My new guitar had significant levels of fret buzz and the set up wasn't quite what I was hoping for either. Leo diagnosed the various issues and set about eliminating them. The guitar now sounds absolutely as intended and is a joy to play. The set up is lovely and the new strings he graciously put on are also helping the sound. Thanks again Leo! read more

From the Business
Specialties
Crossfield Stringed Instruments provide setups, repair and bespoke, hand made stringed instruments and custom inlays. The main instruments that we focus on are Guitar (both electric and acoustic), Mandolins and Violins. A great deal of our business is focused on repair and setup - we get many customers that have purchased new 'factory-produced' instruments that require adjustment such as lowering the action, levelling frets and re-crowning, as well as re-cutting or replacing nuts and saddles, fitting pickups, bridge re-gluing and general repairs to structure and finish. No job is too small or too large. Unlike many Luthiers, we are also players of the instruments that we make and repair and as such work closely with the customer to define their exact requirements and options.
History
Established in 2009.

Found Crossfield Stringed instrument on a google search and I am so glad I did. Quick story is that I have just acquired a banjo and have not played a stringed instrument for about 30 years and that was only a brief stint. My Grandson came round and twanged a string so hard that the string ended up in the wrong place and the bridge had moved. Leo accepted the job willingly and set the bridge in its correct position as well as a few other things that I didn't know needed doing. It is now sounding so much better....even though I have only actually "Played" it a few times before it got damaged. I would highly recommend a visit to Leo if you have any problem with a stringed instrument I will also hopefully be taking some lessons from Leo very soon. A very competant and very helpful person Highly recommended read more

I wish I had found Leo a long time ago as I have wasted a lot of cash with so called professional guitar techs. Leo recently carried out a service on my Ibanez SR500 bass which, despite the attention of others, still had a few issues. I can honestly say that it has never played better in every respect. I will be dropping off my EDC700 next week for the same treatment. Many thanks Leo. read more

An excellent job of re-fretting my hollowbody guitar. A proffessional and freindly service.
