I am a new mom and I suffered throughout my postpartum journey. I dipped my toes into working out with Parker and I am so grateful I did. Dani, is another trainer who works at this gym. She is the epitome of how hard work in the gym pays off. She is dedicated to her healthy lifestyle and in return it's contagious with her peers. I can't say enough about CrossFit NorthGate. I started taking 1-2 classes/week about 3 1/2 years ago, and I quickly became a daily attendee. At 50, I had allowed myself to accept the myth that my peak had been met years ago, but I was wrong. TLDR: Great Coaches, Nice Space, Plentiful Equipment, Coherent and Smart Programming. I'm not exactly a crosfitter but I have been coming here consistently during my lunches lately. Coming from powerlifting I have done very little of the Oly Lifts, and haven't jumped rope since I was a little girl.... Despite this, the coaches are extremely helpful and positive. Great mix of friendliness while still actually giving you solid advice, and so far no BS, as is so prevalent in the industry. The programming is really good. Strength always comes before light, high volume work. Some days are nearly pure strength, and some days are pure very light work and cardio-centric. The warm-ups are always smart and pertinent as well. Not sure how they compare to other Crossfit gyms but I like that they DO throw in the occasional heavy singles. If you're committed to all-around "fitness", don't neglect heavy work. The space is quite large and rarely crowded. There's plentiful equipment, including pvc for warmups and many squat racks. read more

I joined CrossFit NorthGate about a year ago. For someone never lifting weights or working out in this type of gym I wasn't sure what to expect. I was welcomed by staff and members alike. The coaches, have been so helpful and supportive. They pushed me to do more than I ever thought I could. The gym uses an easy to access system to sign up for classes, keeping track of results and viewing the upcoming daily workouts. This gym has a strong sense of community led by knowledgable and talented coaches. The facility is state of the art and it is located in the heart of downtown Santa Rosa. As a CrossFit affiliate, they effectively emphasize and demonstrate: technique, mobility, nutrition, setting goals, measuring and recording progress. I was in Santa Rosa for a couple of weeks to be with my mother as she battled cancer. I was looking for a place to keep up with my Crossfit Spero (www.crossfitspero.com) regime. What I found was a great atmosphere, tough workouts, awesome coaching and some wonderful people. Ryan, Shannon and Micah were so welcoming to me, as my situation changed with the rapid decline of my mother's health. Unfortunately, my mom passed away during my stay. Fortunately, Crossfit North Gate was the best outlet for me to get away from the pain of my losing my mother, if only for a couple of hours a week. I have been a this gym for 4 weeks now and haven't looked back! I was getting really bored of spinning classes and not seeing a lot of change in my overall fitness so thought I'd give Crossfit a try. I've noticed a huge difference in the way I run just from doing Crossfit workouts. The trainers here are amazing. They make sure you are doing the exercises properly so you don't hurt yourself. Mobility exercises are taught at the end of the workouts which help with range of motion and overall stiffness that results from being at a desk all day. I had resisted CrossFit generally in the past because of mixed reviews from people I knew, but I was interested in checking out CrossFit Northgate specifically after reading the reviews online and going through their website. I contacted Ryan over email, we chatted on the phone, I tried out an intro class and 3 months later I am still going 5/6 days a week. All the coaches I've had (Ryan, Dani, Elijah) are top notch. They all know what they're doing and the most important thing (for me) is that they make sure I'm doing the movements correctly and safely. They know how to pick out the specific tweaks I need to make to my form so that I stay injury free and set myself up for long term success. And it is long term - there are no shortcuts - if you want sustainable changes and find the best version of yourself. If you want coaches who know what they are doing, who actually care about your progress and you as a person, and have a good time doing it, then this is the place for you. I started at Crossfit about a year ago after things started to reopen. I came in with very little knowledge about lifting technique and with a lot of room for improvement athletically. Coaches Ryan, Dani, and Elijah are all awesome. They are both amazing athletes and great teachers. They take the time to watch each individual and help correct mistakes all the while leading a dynamic and  challenging hour-long group workout. The community at NorthGate is a big part of why my rating is without a doubt 5 stars. The range of athletes vary from beginners to competition level, but everyone works just as hard and in unison. There is a certain energy that you get from putting in all that effort with a group of people that is much different from other gym experiences. Athletes are encouraged to work at their own pace and skill level. The gym is spacious and fully equipped with state of the art equipment. They have been taking proper precautions throughout the last year to keep the space safe and running. I would recommend Crossfit NorthGate to anyone looking to challenge themselves physically and improve their overall health. What an amazing gym! Ryan and the other coaches are talented, dynamic and truly care about the progress of each member. Mobility is emphasized before and after each workout. I always feel comfortable asking questions when I need help with a movement. I also feel safe because the exercises are properly explained and demonstrated before each workout. Most importantly, the facility is always clean and tidy, and the bathrooms are spa-like. There is always nice, new hair pins and hair ties, just in case you forget one!
