I cannot recommend them highly enough. I no longer suffer from the lower back ache that I was developing as I approached 60, and sleep is a lot deeper and more fulfilling. That in itself is why I see them every month, but better still, Dr Emma is a paediatric specialist, and as I became a grandfather just over a year ago, we took my grandson to see her as he was late developing in crawling and walking. In just a couple of sessions, Dr Emma allayed any fears of any serious musculoskeletal concerns, worked her 'magic', and within a fortnight, he was crawling about, and now, 3 months later, he's running about, playing on his trampoline and slide, and chasing their labrador around the back garden! Sound, competent, qualified professionals who know exactly what they're doing. Please try them out - you will not regret it.

When registering with doctors in Leeds there is a system like some Primary Schools which concern your catchment area. Basically, if you live within a certain radius of the establishment then you can register here, if not there will be another that is nearer to you. It makes sense but is a little annoying if you are still moving house every year with the tide of students in the area, as you may have to switch doctors. The actual surgery itself is very comfortable to visit. It has a wide and spacious waiting room that doesn't smell of ill people (sometimes more crammed ones actually do, honestly) and some very sweet and helpful receptionists. It is generally not a very long wait to get an appointment and in an emergency they will happily look through for any cancellations, or other ways of suiting your needs to make you all better. Once registered, you can also obtain a username and password for online appointment booking or ordering repeat prescriptions. Just ask at the desk and see their website.

The Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) is a huge, sprawling hospital in the centre of Leeds and you'd be…read morewell advised to research exactly where in the hospital your appointment is before you arrive. It can easily end up being a long walk across town to find the right ward if you get it wrong. In spite of its large and sprawling nature the hospital is efficient. Waiting times are short and staff are attentive. Obviously, no one ever really wants to g to a hospital but if you do have to go to one you'd rather go to a nice, efficient one and "nice and efficient" describes the LGI well. As hospitals go it's not an awful place to be either. The wards and general areas are decorated nicely and there's art here and there. There's a Costa Coffee within the hospital as well as a gift shop and a roof top garden. The first version of the hospital was opened in 1771 by graduates of the University of Edinburgh Medical School but the current version opened in 1869 and has gone through several refurbishments, upgrades and expansions since. Much of the layout plans of the hospital were based on recommendations by Florence Nightingale. So, I would absolutely avoid ever coming here but only because it's a hospital and I would absolutely avoid ever going to any of them. If you have to be in a hospital the LGI is just fine. Besides, I was born here, so it gets extra points for that.

As with many large hospitals in big cities LGI has been remodelled and added to over the years with the result that there are carbuncles on the structure that even their best surgeon couldn't remove and lots of unexpected and seemingly pointless changes of level in order to get to your destination. Travelling through LGI is a real exercise in 4 dimensional travel. There are always going to be stories of horror, joy and grief in any hospital but my personal experience has been of rather inept management and administration coupled with caring, dedicated staff (in most areas) who do the best they can with more and more limited funding. It remains a personal bugbear that hospitals such as LGI now resemble shopping malls in places (with the exception of affordable, accessible parking). Oh for the days when you could grab reasonable refreshment from a basic but clean cafeteria run by volunteers.

Last time she visited was for a week and the first day she got up here we went for a walk around Moortown Corner. There used to be a spa on the corner and she wanted to check it out, since her last visit Transform has popped up in its place. Not being deterred by the change of services she decided she wanted to go and have a look. Somehow, I am not sure exactly how it happened; she had booked us both in for a no fee consultation. I am not advocating the use of botox and I am at the age when I still think it would be highly unnecessary so I just went along with it out of curiosity. My friend however is older than I am and so wrinkles are a constant worry for her and she was serious about seeing what could be done. We went down a few days later and I was really impressed by the clean and stylish rooms and the consultant was lovely. Rather than try and get me to have a procedure that a) I didn't really want b) couldn't afford and c) didn't really need, he told me that it wasn't suitable for me. My friend however could do with a bit of help and he took his time explaining what they could do and answering her questions. Lady at the desk is great and both Derith (the co-ordinator) and my surgeon (Netri) were good and relaxing. I didn't feel pressured here like I had done before when going to see other surgery groups in Leeds, which was mainly why I chose this group to have my surgery with. Surgery is not performed here (hospital is in Manchester) but non-surgical procedures are performed here! I have not had anything there with them, but have thought about possible laser hair removal. Time will tell with that though. I am not looking to do it soon. Only complaint is lack of parking, but I just used the M&S car park across the street.

The waiting area is highly stylish and comfortable and they had Molten Brown hand cream in the toilets which always impresses me. I had a therapeutic massage and I literally floated out of the building afterwards. It's a bit pricier than you would expect to pay at a beauty salon but it is worth every penny more.

I thought I would warn others. The Dr said during the session that she would give me the herbs for free because she understood how hard up people are. I asked the receptionist to check with the Dr about the price but was still asked to pay around £150. I cannot imagine that many will have this sort of money (I havent) and felt that I should let people know so that they are forewarned.

There is an adjoining pharmacy and a good range of specialised support people and sessions. The only downside is the parking which is inadequate for a practice as busy as this. It would be unfair to finish without mentioning that the receptionist on my last visit was pleasant and helpful and had a large supply of patience (not your typical doctors receptionist at all)

To the left is a nice modern waiting area with a fancy free coffee machine for those that sit. Visting various rooms every one was clean and of a high standard. Every staff member I encountered always acknowledged me and greeted me in a friendly manner. My room I stayed in was basic and everything leading up to the operation was good. After the procedure the nurses were frequent to ask me if needee anything food/drink wise . However they did continue to leave my door open which left me with a restless night. In the morning I was offered anything I wished to eat and drink. Overall this is a lovely hospital with great staff.
