Relieved to see several reviews here talking about how quickly your items are evaluated and how few get picked. SAME. About 3 years ago I had a great experience selling items here, then around a year ago I brought in several bags (I don't buy crap clothing) and was basically told no thanks to all of it or offered a pittance for one or two items. I thought I was going crazy - what happened? The clothes were a mix of seasonal (come on folks it's California how seasonal do we get anyway?). Well anyway I tried another round today with other awesome clothes (not couture but not cheap and um respectfully more in style than the stuff on the racks in the store imo) and again offered pocket change for a couple of items. Never going back - at this point it feels like it's just a lure to get you to come into the store and shop. read more

It's unfortunate you have employees that act so stuck up, as if they're the epitome of cool! I've shopped and sold at this location many of times, but up until recent, I always encounter this tall, slender, Caucasian female associate, who acts as if she's too good to speak...or is selective on whom she greets and provides customer service. Today, came in around 1pm. As soon as I walk in, she is walking back to the cash wrap. She ignores me but greets the two women behind me. Was it because I was of Asian descent? Worst experience ever! I came here at 6:30 PM, the staff to sign in as I was here to sell and shop. After doing so, I couldn't leave my things to go browse as they didn't have space on the counter or on the floor. So I waited, and waited... and waited. 45 mins later, I asked the "manager", who was working the buy line at that time, if I can leave my things to go browse. She told me I can't as they close at 8pm and they won't be able to get to me today. Okay, why didn't she tell me this sooner?! She told two ppl behind me when they came 20 mins after me. I was under the assumption that I made it before the cut off time as they didn't inform me otherwise. Overall, they weren't properly trained to run the store and lacked customer service. They were unorganized to the point where customers waiting to pay for items left as they didn't want to wait 20-30 mins to purchase. Therefore, I can't provide full experience review as I didn't even get the opportunity to sell and shop here. Way to waste my time and ruin my customer's experience. read more

I'm trying to downsize the number of things I own and it's forced me to face some facts about my closet and work toward accepting that I'm just never going to look good in some stuff again... and that I don't need 40 pairs of jeans when 4 out of 7 days a week I don't even put on pants. With that comes the mass dumping of years of clothing hoarding. I thought I'd just done this a year ago before moving out to California, but apparently not enough. To be fair, I think I glamorized the type of life I'd have out here by imagining going on dates, going to shows, beach excursions with bestie, and hiking every other day... but that's not really what ended up happening. The reality is that I'm mostly working, and most days I don't even bother getting dressed so the massive pile up of consumerism in my closet has got to go. Plus, I could always use the extra money. So I headed down to San Jose thinking I'd have better luck here than in the city, and overall it wasn't a bad experience. I had A LOT of stuff and because I'm from the midwest where it gets ridiculously cold, a lot of the stuff I have just isn't relevant attire here, but they did take a few things and I walked out $50 happier and still have a lot of really great stuff that I still plan on bringing around to different second-hand shops around the Bay. The ladies who work here were great and have the clothing buying thing down to a science. They got through so much stuff super fast and were really eloquent when legit, like 3 different giant sunglass-wearing white girls came in separately with their Starbucks in one hand and bag of stuff to try and sell tried to cut the line or give reasons that their stuff should be evaluated first. "No, b*tch. No.", would have been how I would've handled them, but the shop girls were friendly and just explained the process and everything seemed to go smoothly. The selection of clothing they have here is purposefully more casual and for people in their mid-twenties, I'd say, but there's still stuff for older folks and the mens section actually looked really legit. No formal-wear and not really club-y type stuff like you'll see at a lot of these places. They had some great Madewell dresses and other popular brands with pretty like-new clothing. I recalled this location, literally I could draw the exact layout, from year ago - great location or great memory (for obscure things)? That's up for debate! Buyer Experience: Anyway, it may just be a great location because yet again, I scored some sweet stuff. It's always a treasure hunt and there are no guarantees, but Crossroads can produce some little nuggets of gold. Seller Experience: In regards to selling, there will always be mixed experiences, incorrect associates since fashion is not a science, and annoyed sellers. A friend recommended I come to Crossroads to sell my slightly used items. I had name brand named items from shoes, pants, tops, to dresses purchased from Nordstrom. Crossroad's representative "Linda" claimed she went through my items (which is unlikely since it took her 2.5 minutes) and that they "don't take plus size or anything over a size 12". First of all, my shoes aren't plus size, my Lush brand shirts aren't plus size, my Leith dress isn't a plus size, nor was my leather jacket that is always in Season. I left there feeling aweful. I'll never in life go back here. I must mention, I went to another clothing store right after this experience and not only did they thank me for coming in but they also cashed me out. $$$$$$$$ Crossroads it may behoove your business to hire customer friendly staff! read more

I love this Crossroads location. I've always had great luck selling and purchasing here. I brought in 2 big storage bins and a large bag full of clothes yesterday and they really helped me lighten my load! I left with $200 in cash, plus I was able to consign my Ferragamo handbag! Huge thank you to Linda, Ruth, and the entire Blossom Hill team for doing such a great job curating the racks. I'll be back soon to buy and sell some more. read more

I've been here a couple of times. OK for selling, not my scene for buying. The first time, they were super elitist about what they would take. I brought in two ginormous bags of really great, hardly worn/unworn stuff that was nicer than over half of what they had for sale in the store and they didn't take one single item. The second time, they took a few items and gave me some cash and were actually really nice about it. I knew going into it that they only pay 35% of their selling price so it wasn't a big deal. Easier than selling on ebay and worth the time to see if you can get a few bucks for stuff that is just sitting in your closet... But I was still confused by what they didn't take, as it all seemed to be in line with the stuff they sell. As for what they sell... I think it's all way overpriced for used clothing, especially since it isn't all that great. Kinda hipster-ish. But maybe that's the point? I don't know. Next time I have something to sell, I am going to ride on over on a fixed gear bike and skinny jeans for hipster credibility and maybe that will give my stuff more value. read more

Going in a buying something being a size 12/14 top and 14 bottom pretty much doesn't happen at Crossroads. I'm not saying they are excluding sizes to be mean, I mean you sell your bread and butter right? But for crying out loud, if you have a large or extra-large and it sells in a day (as spoken from the girl buying clothes from people) then MAYBE there is a demand for those sizes and you should have them in stock. Just saying. Anyhow, the shoes are decent and when I do find a large/xlarge it is usually something cute. The purses and accessories are pretty good too. Now to the selling: First of all, be consistent. Depending on who looks through the clothes, you may sell a lot or nothing. I brought in a few pairs of SUPER cute vintage inspired shoes that I just didn't wear. The first time I brought them in, a snobby girls said no. I brought them 2 days later (just to see) and a not snobby girl said "OH! SO cute! These will go quick!" and bought them right there. Um, ok. They also once refused, then took (same snobby girl, differnt girl 2nd time) some flannels with TAGS, hoodies, etc. The snooby chick seemed to be looking for brand name, not condition or style (Like, she took these crappy ass juicy sweats but not a brand new fox flannel... huh?). The other girls seemed to look for what would sell. Overall, I want to love Crossroads because the IDEA itself is wonderful. But some of the people who work their have an attitude and I'm sorry, I have enough of my own... I don't need a second hand store clerk trying to push theirs on me... IMHO. read more

Got there just in time before 3 others walked in to sell. Took about 30 mins to sort and price the big bag of stuff Mo and me brought. Some men's tees, under armor sweater,skirts, and all the shoes I brought. Shoes definitely if they are in style and in good shape there is a high chance they will buy. I came in here with my daughter to update our wardrobes. Most of the clothing here really isn't my style. I can't put my finger on which style it really is. Racks full of synthetic fiber clothing. I didn't discover this until the end but some of the better/cooler looking clothes are hanging up high on the wall with price signs on them. By then I just had to leave. When we first walked in, we noticed how neat and good smelling it was but after a while my daughter turned into the canary in a coal mine of scent overload. I actually had a really pleasant experience at this location. First off, super stoked that there's a location near my home and no longer have to go to the San Carlos location. Second, I came at a good time as there was only one other person ahead of me in process, so I was able to easily have my clothes picked at and cash out. The employees there were totally friendly and I must've come on a good day. Or they got rid of the old rude employees. The store was clean and had lots of great items too! read more

I had a good experience here. First time to trade in my old designer jeans, they only took 30% of what I brought in. I used the $154 credit towards a nice pair of sunglasses and some colorful stuffs. For men they don't have much unique items, but there seems to be a good collection for women. They also refer me to Savers nearby so I can donate the remaining items. There is a wide variety of items to choose from, the quality is great - very gently used or new, the pricing is amazing, the store is clean and well lit. Resale shops overwhelm me in general, but Crossroads is cool. Decent finds if you have the time and patience to peruse. I've sold & bought from this location on multiple occasions throughout the last few years. Sometimes they buy the clothes I want to sell, sometimes they don't. I would much rather sell here, and have it sit in my closet or having to deal with the hassle of selling them piece by piece online. When I do sell, I always take the store credit, because you get a much higher percentage (50%) of the selling price, compared to taking cash (33%). There's been plenty of times where I walk away purchasing a handful of amazing finds, but then there's also times where I don't get lucky at all. The staff is really nice at this location. I really recommend this one over the San Carlos location. read more

Although I frequent crossroads to shop, I've yet to attempt to sell anything at any of their locations. I came into today with bags full of fall clothing and sneakers I've barely worn but no longer have room for. I walked into the store where there were 3 employees behind the counter, none of which acknowledged me. Completely unaware of the process I stood there with my bags and waited. I was waiting 10 minutes before another woman walked in and waited behind me. Another 10 minutes goes by, before another woman walked in. At this point one of the employees greets her as soon as she enters the store, asks her if she's selling today, and proceeds to tell her to sign into their ipad so they could service her next.... NEXT.... before the woman who came in before her, before me who came in before the woman who came in before her. I really don't understand how this is acceptable. I was completely overlooked by the workers here. Why was I not serviced or made aware of the procedure when they clearly had no issues immediately directing another consumer who entered the store after me.....? I was in the store for 20 minutes and not one, not two, but three employees within a 10 foot radius of where I was standing the entire time failed to say one word me. read more

Love love love coming here! The staff that are usually there when I stop in is Erika, Perla, and Derek and they are all so sweet and fun to talk to while I trade in items. They also have amazing style so whenever I go in I look forward to seeing what their ootd is. Everytime I have made trades they are very helpful and try to buy in as many items as they can according to their store guidelines for the season. Other consignment shops are no where near as friendly or buy back as many of my items as they do. Everytime I sell I am able to get a $$-$$$ designer item from their counter display because of trade-in credit. I really appreciate their covid precautions as well because shopping at a trade-in store can be intimidating during this time but they have great accomodations that make me feel very comfortable and safe while I am there. I've been going to Crossroads for about 7 plus years now. Specfically the W. San Carlos San Jose and Shattuck Berkeley locations to buy and sell my previously loved clothing. Maybe it's me just being a little too upbeat the times I've come in here, but these girls working were just awful. They just seem so out of it and lack the enthusiasm to be working when I had came in to sell some goods. No hello, no thank you, and the racks were so unorganized with sizing and messy - just ugh! I immediately fell in love with the inventory & prices. It took me awhile to fall in love with the staff but I think they are a little misunderstood. The less expectations you have when you come in as a seller, the better. I am always surprised at what they buy, but in a good way. When I come in with something from a designer, that I'm sure they'll love, they dont take it- but will buy the more interesting, less known pieces. And that's what I want as a shopper, so that is killer. My experience with the staff was lukewarm at first, but once they've seen you a few times, and recognize that you are not a dirtbag, they'll greet you with a smile and go out of their way to help you. They didn't let me return a shirt at this location because the tag's description didn't match the shirt. No where in their return policy does it mention anything like that. It's pretty difficult to leave this place without buying at least one thing. The variety of clothes they have here are great and they do carry a lot of items that are new. Most of the items I tend to favorite and abuse come from this location. Docking a star for the buying portion of this company 30% in cash really isn't that much, but I guess I'm just complaining because I'm a po' college student that can't sell back her books for half the price either. I mostly come here for the clothing, service here is just whatever and has anyone ever wondered why consignment stores and thrift stores smell the way they do? Giving this location 1 star strictly because of the terrible customer service that these seemingly young kids running the store provided. Came in at 7:05 fully aware that the store closes at 8 - just wanting to take a quick look. My friend went to try on a handful of items at about 7:30 and the male staff member warns her by saying "we close at 8", and my friend agreed saying she understood how long she had. That was the first thing said to us since we walked in. A female employee asked me what items she didn't want and what she wanted to keep and I let her know I wasn't sure, since I wasn't standing there the whole time. Then the guy asks me the same question a minute later, repeating again that I'm not paying attention to what items she's keeping. I suggested we just leave them out until she can sort them herself, and as I walked away he grabbed items off the rack anyway to put them away. I had to go up and ask for them back because one of them was what I was going to buy, handing it back to me with side-eye attitude. The employees continued to roll their eyes and talk under their breath to each other, since they were clearly annoyed that people remained in the store (still before 8). Although there were still 2 other people in the store, we were out before 8, but have no interest in coming back. It would be a great idea to teach these staff members what decent customer service is. Chances are it would make working there more enjoyable for them too! read more

I have been coming here for YEARS, but unfortunately after today I will never be back. I was treated with such disrespect by one of the cashiers because I did not like the offer she gave me and decided to keep my items. They like to hurry up and put sensors on and get the items they're taking out of your sight so you can then be offered pennies for Burberry sunglasses, a Louis Vuitton bag, rare nike dunks, brand new western boots etc... but not really go over what they took so you can actually take the time to assess weather the sale is worth it or not. Once I decided the cash offer was not worth the sale and said I would pass, the girl got so upset and made a few snarky comments that "next time I should ask them not to process the items if I don't plan to sell them because it saves both of us time" .. I replied with the fact that I didn't know they "process" anything as I have yet to agree to the sale or sign anything. She responded once again with a crap attitude that they do it every time.. I told her I was sorry to be such an inconvenience and no one at the front intervened to maybe explain the process in a kinder way. What a bummer. read more

Leading up to Christmas I had fallen very ill during the holidays and didn't make my return date within the allotted 7 days. I understand store policies are very important and it is what helps a store function. However, within policy one would hope to have a "heart beat" and be compassionate to life situations. At the entrance, the staff checks in with the customers to be sure that they know the social distancing guidelines, dressing room rules, mask policy, return policy, etc. Everyone working is very attentive and sharp, always on duty and there to help if needed. Super organized store with a clean and orderly environment. By far my favorite Crossroads location. read more

Alright let me just be honest for one second. It is already kind of uncomfortable to walk in and sell your old clothes. I I don't really know why but it's just weird to have someone pillage through your old things and then try to put a price on them. Mildly awkward but it didn't set me aside from coming in to try and sell some of my old stuff before I go on vacation. I was just trying to make a few extra bucks so I can have a little bit better time in Thailand :) There is a girl that works here who has green eyes and orange hair. While alright to look at, her mood is one of the ugliest I have ever encountered in my life. The aura around her makes it so you have to stand 5 feet back from her so as not to be blown away by the atomic radioactive hate poring out. This girl did not open one bag. Not one of my three. She maybe spend one or two minutes looking at my stuff maybe. When she called me back over to the counter she told me that she couldn't take any of my items because they were an old-style and it would be very hard for them to sell. Spare me. There was literally a brand new men's Armani watch retails at over $300 and one of my bags. There is no way in hell that crossroads could not sell that watch. This woman should be let go immediately. It may be fun for some people to spread hate upon others. But I really don't think that any establishment should support employees who want to spread that kind of image on their business. Clean store, friendly service... yet a giant waste of your time. According to their selling guide 99% of your items should have been taken. Out of the 3 bags (and a 45 sec scan) they took zero items. The clerk kindly explained the items were higher value than what they want in the store. Our highest value were North Face boots.. makes no sense. It doesn't seem like they train their sorters. I can't believe I wasted my lunch hour today on this place. After reading the reviews for this location, I decided to give it a chance, since I'm no longer a fan of the San Carlos St. store. Unfortunately, it's no better. They only took two items, and I got a whopping $8 for a NWT Zac Posen top. WTF?? I was considering giving this place one more star for the advantages it has over the San Carlos location, such as A) ample parking, B) a cleaner/better organized retail space, and C) less sullen sales help. The gal you have working there's passive aggressive and was upset because I commented on how the anti-theft device on the front of a beautiful straw hat made it impossible to actually judge how the hat looked and felt because the front was weighted down. so please, I'm glad you got back to me and one more thing I have 2 millennial sons who laughed when I told them about your store and they both said they won't go back to the blossom hill store, hint hint, but love the original one. This is a medium-sized Crossroads, located in a small shopping center. The interior like all other Crossroads (modest, white walls, pretty basic), and as another reviewer mentioned, there is definitely a distinct odor in that store. It's weird because it's the only Crossroads where I've noticed such a distinct... scent. Ok, so that's a tiny bit off-putting, but if you're willing to power through, I think it's a worthy stop. I've only been there once, and I found several items within the first 10 minutes. I left the store with one vintage lace dress, a party dress (with a $60 price tag intact- I got it for $14), and a pair of Micheael Kors riding boots on consignment. My total bill was just shy of $100, and I think the boots alone would have been worth that price. Take the time to dig around here, you'll likely find something. read more

I've been here a few times... More times to sell clothes than to buy clothes. Everytime is just worse and worse. They hardly get new things, sometimes they don't even care to buy new things. They expect you to bring all designer clothes in there that you spend a lot of money on. LOL... If I buy something for like $75-$100, I'm not gonna sell it to them so I can get $5 for it!! Somethings you can tell are just unwanted by anyone and everyone. Every once in a while you find something really nice and at a great price, but you take it up to the register and they say it was miss marked. The girls here are rude, and seem like they really don't care to sell anything in the store. Its a horrible place to go, I would never recommend it! read more

This store has only been open for a few months, and though it is new I must say its definitely a nicer store than San Carlos. The San Carlos store does have a lot more variety of items since it is a much more established. The employees in here are much nicer. Its nice that the store is larger too because I felt smashed in between the racks. I came here today looking for some costume pieces for dance and walked out with some great tops and pants! Now the first thing you will notice when you walk in is "WHOA THIS PLACE STINKS!" Yes it does smell funky but after a while you won't notice it. I have been to the location in Santa Cruz and never found much but at this location I found many things that would work for weekends and work clothes. I love how they organize most of the tops by color because I prefer to wear certain colors and don't have to rummage through a bunch of stuff to find something I like. They have a big selection of jeans and a lot a lot a lot of shoes! If you are cool with wearing shoes that have been worn before then this is a great place for you. They also have a really great selection of cute handbags as well. I wanted to buy about 5 of them today. I definitely will be back and will probably bring my husband too. For secondhand, they have a lot of nice looking clothes. Of course there is always going to be something there that looks like it should be given away then sold, but you can find some great stuff here! Many of the tops I bought were only $6! read more

I give this store and especially its staff a big whoppin' THUMBS UP! In my experience stores that do the buy and sell thing tend to have employees that may come off a bit......hmmmmm how to put it gently.........snobby. However this location has some of the friendliest ladies I have come across in the retail game in a long time. I had been going there recently on a steady basis to consign and was blown away by the amazing attitudes of the staff, and I have to make special mention to Mariah who cracked me up reg. and kept the conversations entertaining and to Taylor one of the managers, this chick is straight business, I've witnessed her multitask like crazy and just when I thought she was gonna snap like a twig she made a joke, smiled and kept on going without missing a beat! Big Ups to this place, 1 : Bc the staff is awesome & 2 : Bc I have sold a crap ton of my stuff there over the past few weeks and I know I got the business :) I may be slightly biased on that last one, but oh well. In general, I enjoy shopping for unique finds and gently used clothing for a fraction of the price you'd pay elsewhere. The money saved is used toward my eating addiction on. Food money + looking fashionable = winning. This store is quite small but it's big enough to walk around in where it doesn't feel cramped. There are a nice selection of clothing and bags and I was really pleased to see that most things are very in-season and reminded me of urban outfitters. I have not sold at this particular store but from past experience, the process is quite easy. Bring in your items, get them appraised by someone in the front, and they will give you a choice between cash or credit. If you choose the cash option, they give you 30% of what they will sell it for. If you choose the credit option, you will get 50%. It may have changed since I sold months prior but I don't think it would be by a big margin. Mind you, what you get back is a fraction of what you spend on. They depreciate your items like you wouldn't believe so I wouldn't recommend you to sell unless you're desperate to do so! Customer service is non-existent. No smiles, no pleasantries. A bit snobbish. I felt very intrusive walking into the store. There was a girl that actually (sadly) gave me a very mean look when I asked about holiday hours (which were not posted anywhere online or in-store to my defense). If you can stand that, this store has a lot to offer in terms of clothing and bags. Lots of unique pieces at a very reasonable price. Enjoy! read more

I love Crossroads and I frequently buy and sell at the two San Jose locations and Shattuck locations. However this is my least favorite location. The workers have a vibe, maybe it's because they compete with the other locations and Plato's... Maybe they're having a bad week. Not sure. But they never take any of my stuff, and I even take the untouched items to the other locations I visit and they take nearly half of it! Crazy. My buying process here has not been good either, I find that the styles here are either too old or too "trendy" (things that will go out of style tomorrow or poor quality but high trend). The most negative experience I had was when I was selling and I had one big bag, with small bags separating tops, shoes, dresses, and bottoms. When I went to pick it up, they forgot to put the bag of shoes inside and didn't notify me, making it drive all the way back. Had I not been diligent when I got home, I would have lost them. read more
