Serving food all day (not just the limited lunch and dinner hours), this is a good place to go for galettes (savory crepes made with buckwheat flour) as well as tartines, although I was more focused on galettes and crepes, which are some of my favorite foods from France. They offer a relatively extensive list of galettes, from the regular egg, cheese and ham filled ones, to the more inventive ones such as the indian or danish galettes, or one filled with foie gras and duck, or the one I chose, the ch'ti, with regional ingredients such as the deliciously pungent maroilles cheese, endives, and ham. My galette was delicious! Although I wouldn't necessarily call it a buckwheat galette (it looked like a regular crepe made with brown flour, and didn't have the texture that galettes usually have), the flavors were wonderful. There was a nice balance of sweet, salty, and bitter from the cheese and ham, and the caramelized endive. There was something about the flavor combination that was reminiscent of chocolate, at least to me. Sounds wierd, but I really enjoyed it. They also have some dessert crepes, such as one with salted butter caramel (my favorite!), and a short list of wines and cider to go with your meal. Service is quick and extremely friendly. The gentleman who served me was very nice and almost sang his words when he spoke to me. This is also a pretty good place to dine by yourself, if you're travelling alone the way I do whenever I'm in town. I'll be back during my next trip!

We were immediately welcomed and accommodated in the most hospitable way. The crepes were delicious and the service was outstanding. We were quite entertained by the one gentleman server who was quite animated and pleasant as he tended to us as well as two nearby tables of locals (so much so that my wife continues to refer to him as "Mr. Charisma"). We encountered two additional employees, a lady and a gentleman, both of whom continued the graciousness and pleasant approach to service. They made every effort to accommodate us in English, and answered our questions about some of the magnificent buildings nearby and helped us understand some French phraseology. Parting was as pleasant as the welcome. We would definitely return just to be served by this trio again!

They have two shops along the same street, the one we stopped at had more of a selection. Lacquemant de Lille serves Belgian coffee, pastries, leige styled waffles, and gelato. With a great variety of gelato flavors, you are sure to find one (or more) that you like. Ordering was super simple and the service was very quick. Some of the workers spoke English, some did not. But we were able to order without any problems. The workers are very kind and super efficient as well! There are not any places to sit as this is more of a window/to-go shop. I ordered 2 flavors, Nutella and stracciatella. Both were great, really smooth, and had good flavor. They were also the perfect size and not too heavy (something I appreciate about gelato). Both flavors really complimented each other and I would recommend either! This is a good spot to hit up if you are in need of a sweet treat. With a great selection, they are sure to have something for everyone. I thought the price was pretty fair as well. I'm not sure if this is "the best gelato in Lille", but it was satisfying enough!
