They emailed me my certificate of competence about 20 minutes before my course started, obviously they felt pretty confident in my RSA knowledge despite my not having ever completed a NSW RSA course! It wasn't a huge surprise that they read out the answers to everyone at the end. I'm sure most people would think it's great and accept that everyone probably breezes through these courses, but I'm a little disappointed that a course designed to keep people in the know about the laws that directly affect them and their jobs can be so blatantly abused for profit. They had around 40 people in the room the night I did my RSA, with 15 waiting outside incase someone didn't show up, no shortage of students wanting RSA cards... I have since found out that the maximum number of students permitted to be in any given training session by OLGR is 25. I would have to assume that being an RTO regulated (theoretically) by ASQA and the OLGR, they would know that issuing statements of attainment before their overpacked room of students, most of whom barely speak English, might cause a slight noncompliance issue. But profit is profit and I suppose more is better than legal!

I have to say that I had so much fun. Courses weren't too long (about 4h each) and trainer was really friendly and approachable but professional. Courses were hands on focused so each participant can try it itself. I can hear cyber giggles and guys going "yeah baby, can I come watch?"…read more Despite it becoming more acceptable as a dance form and not being immediately associated with strip clubs, it still has a bit of taboo about it due to it's colourful past. Maybe its best that way as it makes it sound more exotic. Its much more exciting than saying I treadmill lol. Bobbi's is one of the first and best pole studios in Australia, and a long-time associate of Miss Pole Dance Australia. The classes are fun, structured and most of the teachers are trained dancers (ie. ballet, jazz etc). There are a large range of levels starting off at beginners where you get introduced to dancing with the pole, then you graduate to intermediate levels (3 in total) where you start going upside down! The advanced levels are crazy! The number of bruises I've had are numerous (and in weird places) but worth it. Trust me :) There are also lap-dance and flexibility classes to compliment your pole lessons, where you get to let go of all your inhibitions! An important note is that this place is NOT sleazy in any way. It is a proper dance studio and in fact a lot of the 'tricks' you learn are acrobatic in nature rather is sexual. Its a fantastic workout and you develop great core muscles and strength in muscles you never knew you had! The staff are very supportive, as are the girls (and boys believe it or not!) who come to dance. Bobbi's is available either at Elizabeth St in the city or at Miranda. They even have branches in Perth, Singapore and Malaysia. Most of the girls wear pole shoes, and I recommend HIgh Heels in Surry Hills if you want to buy a pair. But bare feet or normal heels is fine when you're starting off. So check out the website and book a class. No giggling! :)

You get to pick what type of moves you want to do...the music is great and there are a lot of props/ costumes to get more into it and have fun ! Teachers are very professional and do everything to make anyone feel comfortable and at ease... I was not convinced at first but this was the highlight of the day !

Whether for a hens night, birthday, engagement or excuse to get pissed and paint it was popular. Lo and behold- the think tanks behind cork and chroma are..... Drum roll please.... From Chicago. Having left for greener pastures they set up their first studio in Brisbane and after gaining momentum have opened up in Surry Hills in I must say a beautiful location. I am a toddler painter but after fantastic instruction on the type of brush, stroke, angle, colour of paint and more I left with a full on masterpiece to hang above the fireplace!!! Great way to socialise, listen to music, drink, eat and tap into that inner artist in all of us- Cork and Chroma is where you need to have your next shindig!!!
