There really isn't any where to move around in the shop, so trying to find a particular dvd or Cd can be very hard. The staff in store are fab, always see them walking around and always really happy to help you find the dvd your looking for. I used to buy all my dvds online because the prices were that much cheaper, but i have found the HMV in Bluewater keeping up with online prices and really reducing the prices to match them.

Fives are also a champion for local music and are a real help to local unsigned bands, offering in-store showcases, selling vinyl/ CDs with little or no mark up and always promoting gigs. With an excellent selection of vinyl and a really great catalogue of blues, jazz and classical as well as all the new releases there really is something for everyone if you have time to browse. Also if you need something they will order it in and call you when it's in. Great service, great shop and independent! Hope it's around in Leigh for many more years.

From the prices that they charge you'd think that you were getting some great service but they don't seem particularly interested in making either conversation or recommendations so all the times I've visited its been somewhat of a sombre affair. I must be honest I don't even remember them having music playing which is odd for a record shop??? Its a shame because with a bit of love and attention it could be truly great. The stock is there, its just laid out in such a drab fashion that it makes you forget it existed. Get rid of the dull grey cantilever wall racks, make it look a bit more airy and up to date and perhaps involve some customer service and it would go far!

After living so close to this shop for year and never actually going in to spend a serious amount of time browsing here, I feel like I've committed a crime. Their tag line is "Friendly service, record and book finding service". Perfect for a Saturday morning hangover browsing session. I could spend a while in here. It's not huge, but perfectly formed and reasonably priced. They even have a vintage clothing section at the bottom although I couldn't quite pull myself away from the records to have a look. I will be back. They have a huge selection of classics, not just the crusty records you find in other second hand vinyl stores. A must for any music collector.

I hit up a couple Flashback locations but this one was definitely my favorite. It had some of the UK stuff that I was looking for, (I hail from the US), and at reasonable prices. I was in the shop for about an hour pursuing my sections/artists and taking second looks at the items in my stack and the employees let me do my thing and didn't bother me, which is always really appreciated. All of the stuff that I was looking for was on the main level, but they do have more vinyl in the basement, which is where I paid for my items. The employees were nice and understood that it was my first time in their shop and I didn't know the process of things. I loved this record shop and will definitely stop by here when I'm in London again!

The Music & Video Exchange in Greenwich is another in the Exchange group based around London. I…read morefind that this one is not as bargainous as its cousins elsewhere but there are still some good finds to be had here. Cheap second hand and promotional albums are there for the taking if you fancy sifting through the racks. Most albums are individually priced and are all guaranteed to work. The shop is quite small and if someone is looking through the promo/collectables section you may find that you have to wait your turn which can be frustrating. Promo albums (the ones radio stations are given by record companies which come in plastic or cardboard sleeves) are normally around £2 and albums start from £4. The problem can also be the quality of stock. Sometimes the racks aren't as full as I have seen in other Exchange stores and are full of artists I've never heard of before which normally wouldn't be a problem but at £2 a go, buying an album blindly can feel like a waste of money if there are no tracks you like. DVDs and vinyl are also available at slashed prices. The main stock is upstairs with more downstairs if you have time on your hands. There it little organisation to the CDs downstairs it is pot luck with regards to what you come across. Looking around this shop can be a pleasurable way to kill an hour or so but compared to the other Music Exchanges, it lacks something which in my opinion is the quantity and quality of stock. Still worth checking out and going out of your way to visiting but if you only have time to visit one exchange, make it one of the others.

This small second-hand music shop in the Greenwich town centre looks like someone's car boot sale…read more Posters adorn the wall, CDs and DVDs are stacked in rows on counters and shelves, and there's barely enough room for more than five customers to browse at the same time (not to mention the guys who work there look like they're on a permanent tea break). However, what looks like disarray isn't really: stock is meticulously ordered depending on genre and price. The categories put any conventional music store to shame. Example: you don't just have "urban" music, you have "classic hip-hop", "UK and indie hip-hop", "mainstream label hip-hop", "hip-hop compilations", "soul", "nu-soul", "funk" and "r&b". Phew! You get the point. This shop is an excellent place to search for bargains - CDs regularly get priced down to £2, even £1. Brand new albums are sometimes available for a quid or two cheaper than their retail price. The DVDs are varied and affordable and there's also an LP section in the basement. If you want an even bigger selection, though, check out their Camden branch.

Sister Ray is a super cool record store (and conveniently down the street from a few other great…read morerecord stores). My vinyl crazed husband spent some good time in here. So first, this is a two-story store with vinyl downstairs and CDs upstairs. The downstairs is IMPRESSIVELY organized, which just tickled my fancy because I love it when things are organized. All of the sleeves are empty - the records are kept behind the counter downstairs. And even when you walk up with a stack of records, the organization is so good that they can easily locate all of the albums you wish you wish to purchase in a flash. The staff was great and friendly and they really knew their music too. The young man helping us had a deep discussion with my husband about some artists I don't know. It was a really good stop. And bonus points for the cool vintage cassettes painted on the stairwell.
