Cookies are below average and do not justify the high prices. Packaging is cute for a novelty gift but nothing to crave.

I was in Abingdon for a workshop last summer and had time every evening afterwards to do a little…read moreexploring. Abingdon is a little town with a lot of fast food outlets and doesn't exactly have a vibrant cafe society or third spaces for people living outside of the nuclear family unit constellation. So I was delighted to find this little cafe/ bookshop (The Book Cellar) which even has a tiny garden as well where you can get a cuppa tea, browse the books, sit down and maybe just get some writing done or just collect your thoughts. Folks were very friendly and I had no problems here whatsoever. It's small, very cozy but for little Abingdon, it's just right. I was so happy to find this corner of Abingdon. I may come back to Abingdon in the future for other workshops and if I do, I sure hope this little shop and cafe are still here.

I stumbled across this charming local coffee shop and book cellar, in Abingdon, VA. I was greeted…read moreupon entry by the barista! She was so kind and very patient as I scanned the menu. She provided recommendations and shared with me the specials offered at the time. I ordered a custom made beverage, hot Toasted Marshmallow & Butter Cookie latte with oat milk; I topped it with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. It was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect sweet treat to warm me up on chilly winter afternoon. The cafe also featured a very cute book cellar that had the neatest items!! You can definitely tuck-away in this cafe to get work done, you can meet with friends for a coffee date, or even just chill and have a cup of coffee, a pastry and indulge in a nice book. If you're in Abingdon, VA, it's absolutely worth checking out!

I have to say, I really do love their cookies. They look similar to Crumbl's, but they're not…read morenearly as crazy sweet, which I like. My only complaints are the prices and the availability. At $4.50 a cookie (and some flavors are an extra $2), they're pretty expensive for this area. They also say they change flavors every Friday, but when I checked for three weeks, most of the flavors stayed the same. The biggest issue is that they keep "selling out" so early. One time I went around noon, and they were already out of 3 or 4 flavors. Another customer had driven over an hour for a certain cookie and was disappointed it was gone. I went back another day around 3 p.m., and they were sold out of about half the menu again. If you're charging premium prices, you really shouldn't be out of so many flavors that early. Crumbl seems to keep all their flavors available all day, so I wish they could do the same. (I looked last night to order for today and even on their website about half of the cookies are already sold out... What's the deal with that)

Cookies seem underdone and suuuper sweet, and they are ridiculously overpriced. They also have a…read moregrainy texture? Interior of the store feels like a blindly white void. If I were Mike Teavee, I would not be leaving the place as large as I entered it. Y'know what I'm sayin'? You order and pay on the side of the store with an iPad. Very self-service. And while I'm not against self-service, it feels very disconnected from the people there and just sort of...cold? Even convoluted? Perhaps a mite pretentious when combined with the stuffy bright-white atmosphere? Compare to Great Clips, which combines personable service with smart tech solutions. Compare with Great American Cookie which is just so much more straightforward overall. GAC's customer service model is great for customers of all kinds. Here at Crave, I don't want to walk up to someone and have them point me to a tablet in the corner away from the entrance. Simplify! Everyone there was just doing their job, and I hold nothing against the fine people running the establishment. But the people working there deserve a better place with more satisfying food. The people eating from there deserve better for the prices.
