Our group of 10 had to navigate a bunch of dietary needs and planned ahead this time due restaurants that usually can't check all of the boxes. Crust and Crumble was a huge win for our vegans, food allergic kid (nut/egg/soy bean/etc), and strong food preference kids (e.g., French fries, Mac and cheese). Dining room is small and eclectic in the back - hand chairs, a car, lots of 4 seaters - but not good for a boisterous group like us, so we relegated ourselves outside to the pizza shaped tables and benches. The vegan pizza that fell to earth was a winner for my pineapple pizza bbq sauce loving soul (I know that's divisive!) and the dough was not heavy at all! Loved eating my crust! My older daughter loved her pepperoni and garlic masterpiece. Plain cheese (other friend's daughter) was neither a hit nor a miss. French fries were a couple cuts below Red Robin - maybe hotter and less smaller pieces might have been the win on both the sweet potato and regular fries. Sandwiches are huge at the half size and probably could be split or maybe even mixed and matched to get more of an experience of the extensive menu (it was so hard to choose!). The Vegan Eggplant parm with aioli was the winning sandwich, getting rave reviews. The regular eggplant caprese needed something more - a sauce or maybe a better ratio of cheese and tomato to eggplant. Bread was super delicious. We also ordered salads and other pizzas and declared this will be our spot next year. So glad that we were able to find this somewhat hidden spot and that it hit so many high marks for a big family dinner after a day at the beach. Parking also relatively simple to find. read more

Lots of vegan topping options, also an order of seitan bites - teriyaki. Service was great and quick- friendly staff. Been coming here for years, usually driving in from over an hour away. We order by phone, seems basic... unless you get this one gal who doesn't seem capacitated to do that job. One item was a cheesesteak. Seems simple, right? Well, ordering a meat item with a vegan cheese was waaaay too much for her. Literally couldn't wrap her head around it, we had to explain it like she was from another country. After a few minutes, we threw the complication of putting mushrooms on it. No mushrooms came on the cheesesteak, but tons of unordered peppers and onions. The person who got it in our party took ten minutes to make sure the onions and peppers were off, but even then, the flavor was so peppery and onion-y that you couldn't taste the already small amount of steak. But the kicker was the pizza order. Getting a large pie, we began telling the topping we wanted...only to get like four ingredients into the list to suddenly, rudely, be told they don't do that many toppings, it will ruin the pizza. (Scooby Doo head shaking WHAAA?!) Holy sacrificing your profit margin , Batman! Aren't they in business to sell what the customer wants? Couldn't find a way to maybe put the extra stuff we wanted on the side, then we could put it on later? It's mind boggling that the owners and managers don't put some kind of warning about that...seems like then you'd have a fallback for that occurring...but whotf does that, on any level? I guess the crust crumbles if too many toppings are chosen. The food is good, kinda unique. That said, so is having someone being rude in a service-oriented job. Read the other reviews, this feels to be a common element in people's experiences. Five stars for food, one for the multiple times (three different) I've had this happen here. As a local Asbury Park family, we were excited to finally try Crust & Crumble for pizza this past Friday after a beach bike ride with our two young children. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing and even unsafe. When we first walked in, my toddler picked up a teddy bear from the window display that was within her reach. Before I could return it, the woman behind the counter sharply told us to put it back. If décor is placed at child level, a kinder approach would go a long way. The bigger issue came when I asked for a simple cup of water for my kids. Despite spending nearly $50 on pizza, I was told they don't offer water and directed to buy bottled water. After back and forth (and my son in tears), someone reluctantly filled his bottle, but only with a rude attitude that made me feel like I was asking for something out of line. To make matters worse, while I was speaking with the staff, my son leaned on a plastic mobile fence-like partition on wheels, which tipped over and injured his foot. His foot swelled immediately, and not once did anyone on staff check if he was okay. Later, my husband asked for a pizza box and again was met with attitude instead of help. I don't consider my family high maintenance, nor were any of my requests egregious. I've never once encountered such attitude from a local business -- especially in a family-friendly town like Asbury Park. The pizza itself was fine, but the service, lack of hospitality, and unsafe setup in the restaurant made this an awful experience for our family. What kind of teenagers run this place? Ordered an $80 dinner, was called immediately and was told they were "out of bread" so our order was cancelled. We could order different things if we want. Then ordered things without bread and was not called, but texted in five minutes literally that they were "too busy" to fill out order. It's not a weekend, it's past prime dinner hours. I go here for my pizza every couple months. Best meat pizza ever, when the owner is working. The best. I got the bbq chicken and plain pizza a couple nights ago. I had guests. I was embarassed by the pizza. The plain pizza was ok, but it was 25% thick crust. The bbq chicken was a disaster. 40% thick crust... and a soupy mix in the middle. Not to my liking, but if you like a lot of thick crust, like 40%, you would enjoy it more I can chalk it up to a one off, but it was $45 wasted. Wow just wow. I haven't had bad pizza in a minute but this place has made me think twice about what's the worst I've ever had. It's a good thing the name has crust in it because it was quite thick. It just felt like I was eating bread. The sauce tasted like ketchup and the double pepperoni had them all placed at the bottom of each slice. The chicken parm was dry and the bread was tasteless and also dry. We waited a while for everything and it still came out lukewarm. The actual dining area is dirty and smells. I'm unsure who thought it was a good idea to have cats in all the pictures, menus, and decor but I would dial that back considering you sell pizza. read more

Our family got together for movie night. We cannot say enough about the wonderful menu, great service, decorations and special touches which made the night an enormous success. For the kids we chose Aladdin. They were well feed and entertained while the adults enjoyed a very complete and wonderful meal that complemented the theme of the movie. The owner puts his heart and soul into this business. I simply can't turn down the Frachos on the vegan menu. You don't want to miss those. And you can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches. House made bread! My favorites are The Original Coal and The Vegan Cheesesteak. The personal style pizzas are great too. I recommend The Bianca. And don't forget one of the many baked goods. I love this place so much! I've been going here for years now and highly recommend it! My only complaint is that I wished a little closer. The 40ish minute drive is always worth it though. My husband and I usually come here for dinner when we go to the beach or for a weekend date night. There are a a ton of street metered parking in front and nearby the restaurant. There is outside and inside seating available. The restaurant is fun, welcoming and bright inside. It's BYOB so that's always a great plus. Their menu is super unique because they have meat options, vegetarian options and even a whole vegan menu! Our favorite appetizer on the menu is the vegan buffalo bites. We get these every time we come here! They are made from seitan and super tasty and delicious! We tried the vegan mozzarella sticks before also, but they weren't my favorite. It used to be my fave comfort food before I became vegan but I didn't love these. Our go to on their menu is their vegan pizza! You can make your own pizza or they have specialty pizzas you can choose from. Personal size pizza is $12 and large is $27. Our favorite is the mariachi pizza which has chipotle sauce, seitan, onions and jalapeño. It's super tasty, every ingredient on it compliments each other well, and the crust is great. The vegan cheese on the pizza is super tasty and tastes better than the typical store bought vegan cheeses. I believe it's cashew based. They have gluten free crust, traditional crust and wheat crust options. I really want to try their vegan fat cat sandwiches sometime soon! Their menu has so many great options. They have vegan, gluten free and regular desserts available also on display in the front of the restaurant. They also do catering and have custom cake and cupcake orders. (regular and vegan) This place has options for everyone which makes it even greater. We've brought many of our friends here and family and they all loved it. It's affordable and the portions of food is good also. The service is quick and the staff is always very welcoming and accommodating. We love coming here for dinner, or take out. Hate to badmouth a place that offers vegan options since we vegans have limited options to begin with. Buttttt had a very odd experience that left me with a bitter taste for crust and crumble. First of all let me preface that my husband called and ordered us food on our way because we came with our 2 year old who can be a little unpredictable at restaurants. We have been there in the past and knew they had tables outside so we picked up our food and the girl at the front told us there was a service fee for using a credit card to which we responded no worries we appreciate the service and had a little laugh about it. My husband ran to the restroom and I sit down with my 2 year old who is actually behaving truck in hand asking for pizza (his fav food) and I open the box and a waiter walks up to us and just says this table is dine in only and stares at us. There is not one sign that says that and no way of us knowing that before hand. Let me just add that it's also Mother's Day and I'm 8 months pregnant... so I'm uncomfortable and hormonal and my eyes well up with tears as I say sadly ok I just have to wait for for my husband... my husband comes out and I tell him what happened and his response is wtf there's 3 open tables and I feel sad and too uncomfortable and we leave causing our 2 year old to lose his mind cause now he can't have his pizza. All after we had already paid a service fee so I don't really understand why we were forced out like that. Anyway we wound up driving down to the water and having a great day but my son did not eat because he was upset after having to leave. Not really the coolest thing to do to a pregnant mom on Mother's Day just sayin.. Food wise the pizza was ok mostly crust the vegan mozz sticks were banging as always but that would be the one saving grace of this crusty and crumby experience. This place has both a full vegan an d regular menu, which was very helpful for anyone who is vegan who goes out to eat with someone who is not, and vice versa. The food was amazing. I really liked the fried seitan bites in the sweet and spicy bourbon sauce. We ate in the restaurant and it had this cool fake car in front of a projection tv so it looked like a drive in. I stopped in to try some items off of their vegan menu. I do love how they have two separate menus. Many times it is a struggle to find an establishment that has both options - especially when your date doesn't prefer vegan food lol. I tried their vegan mozzarella sticks which were surprisingly very similar to regular mozzarella sticks. But I wasnt crazy about it & probably wouldn't order again. The pizza i ordered was unfortunately underwhelming; the 'chicken' completely lacked in flavor, but their BBQ is what saved the whole dish. As you can see by the photo, they kinda just slapped all toppings on the pizza - no effect on presentation but that's ok. Wow wow wow! Lucky to be a vegan in the Asbury area! Was fortunate enough to be invited to their VEGANS IN NJ event where they served us up some incredible food! My only complaint is I only have one stomach. Vegan raviolis - incredible! Kale Caesar was my favorite - fresh and the dressing is amazing! Two different pizzas - super tasty and the crust is amazing! You could put anything on it and it would be out of this world. Fat cat sandwiches are inventive and filling - perfect for a splurge or an after-drinks kinda night. They finished us off with mugs of sweet and flavorful banana coconut ice cream - rich and satisfying. The staff are friendly, kind, and take pride in their restaurant. I went here for a second time with a friend who is gluten free. We had friendly service the first time as the girl working the counter was very polite and accommodating. This past Saturday we went again. We ordered a gluten free pizza and fries on their app. After sitting down to eat my friend couldn't pull apart their pizza. So they went inside to ask if they could cut it for them. Not exactly a big request. Both employees tried to tell my friend their pizza is cut what do you want... So my friend had to explain it wasn't cut all the way through. They acted as though this was such an inconvenience. We also walked back in the place with all our food trash and were instructed to go back out to the sidewalk to throw it out. Sorry but we will not be back, learn to be polite maybe? My friend wrote a review on google and the owner rudely told them to grow up. The people who need to grow up are the ones behind the counter at Crust and Crumble who treat customers like they are a problem. Your pizza place is far from indispensible and every business is suseptible to going under. I suggest you and your employees take a lesson in how to treat the public. read more
