This place was like a plaza of some of the good ones in Tagaytay. So we ordered one of Carlo's Pizza. We wanted the Quatro Formaggi, which is Italian for Four Cheese and the Abruzzi, which is a region in Italy. We also ordered Potato Wedges with cheese and bacon plus a mushroom soup. What I loved the most about our meal was the Quatro Formaggi. It was indeed a blend of four premium cheese. Not only that, it was also packed with the right seasonings and herbs. A bite into the pizza did not taste like four different cheese flavors and seasonings. A bite of Their Quatro Formaggi was a different taste in itself. The mix of the ingredients contributed to a different experience; a very tasty one. Definitely one of the best pizzas I have tried. The mushroom soup also made me happy. It was creamy and had the right mix of flavors. The Abruzzi on the other hand, I found okay. The meat on the pizza was alright but personally, I would have preferred a more balanced pizza: one that has the right amount of meat and veggies in it. I guess the pizza lacked a certain texture and taste that the veggies give. The Potato wedges were standard. There were bacon bits and cheese that tasted like this commercially produced cheese spread. Aside from all the food. Carlo's Pizza in Tagaytay also hasa nice view overlooking The Taal Lake and Taal Volcano. I wouldn't mind enjoying my delicious pizza with a view of nature's creation to go with it, not to mention the history behind it. (If you have a knack for history or just want to find out about the lake and volcano, just ask anyone from Tagaytay.) Carlo's Pizza already has a lots of branches in the Metro. I will definitely remember this place for their Pizza. I also want to come back and try their other pizzas and pastas that look really good.

I was advised by a relative to order the Special Halo-Halo so we immediately ordered that as our snack from our 4-hour drive. The halo-halo which is a Filipino dessert of mixed beans, coconut jelly, jackfruit, etc. topped with shaved ice and garnished with ube ice cream and flan, was served in a whole young coconut shell. The rest of the party ordered the "bulalo" which is a beef shank stew with marrow, corn, and Napa cabbage. Also tried other Pinoy dishes that are local to the area such as fried "tawilis" which are fished right off the Taal Lake. The menu also offered other items such as pastas, pizzas, and burgers. The kiddos had pasta dishes which were met with great approval. The next day, also had the complimentary breakfast buffet. The buffet had a good selection of pastries, meats, fruits, and offered an omelette station and a salad bar. The staff service was exceptional in my opinion. They were attentive and cleared the plates efficiently. The restaurant was clean and brightly lit with floor to ceiling windows all around that looks out to the view of the Taal Volcano and Taal Lake.

With a view fronting Taal Volcano (get there early or make a reservation so you can get a table outside), there's nothing much that can top good Italian food and a hot cup of coffee with the cool Tagaytay breeze blowing around you. My personal favorites are Buon Giorno's risottos, specifically their salmon and sausage ones. Not too dry but not too moist, with just enough meat so you don't feel like you're just eating wet rice. Oh, and just like a lot of other good Italian places, fresh unli-bread while you're waiting for your food is a big, big plus.

We didn't even go to Antonio's. I would have lamented the fact had Buon Giorno not stepped up to console me. First times always have the greatest impact, and just so everything is clear, I have patronized Buon Giorno since and there were hits and misses. But that first time was perfect. The lamb was cooked to perfection, the salads crisp and bright, and the drinks were refreshing and well-concoted. The interiors are really pretty without screaming for attention. While it's not exactly a place people go to see quirky decor, the restaurant is tastefully and interestingly designed. The pastels and somewhat shabby chic interiors make everything feel cozy despite the slightly cramped restaurant floor. If you prefer to eat al fresco, they have many tables outside. View + fantastic food = worth the drive.
