This Crystal, Candles, & Cauldrons shop was suggested to me when I asked about where to find decent crystals. Founded in 2007 and relocated to this location in 2008. They are in Hampden. Straight from their website, "at the corner of Roland Avenue and 36th Street. We are located in the rear of the Historic Hampden Hall building, with our entrance off of the rear parking lot." I was walking around that building for a bit before I found them, haha. If you see Truist along 36th Street, it's on the other side of it. We carry all kinds of crystals, candles, and, yes, even cauldrons. In addition, we have a selection of over 100 tumbled stones, incense, oils, herbs, sterling silver jewelry, books, journals, faeries, figurines, wall hangings, tapestries, wind chimes, hoodoo kits, holy water, note cards, art prints, artist embellished prints, stickers, swords, athames, tarot cards, angel cards, bags & more!" and "We offer tarot readings, angel card readings, astrology charts, and animal communication readings. These are available by walk-in or appointments." It's a cozy shop with ALL THE THINGS! I was browsing all the different items, there are really so many... and so much that I've never seen elsewhere! Very unique and niche. There are different 'walking altars' around the shop for different things. I asked a worker about this, and she explained to me the different purposes for them. I thought that was pretty cool. I decided to ask the staff for recommendations for a gift to a coworker. They expertly suggested to me different things that had different purposes and explained them to me. They were so knowledgeable! I decided on a door hanger made of selenite and black tourmaline crystals. This offered protection, grounding, and balance. They also explained that selenite is a softer stone and to avoid getting it wet as water could break it down. Something I would've never known! I included that information with my gift. Thanks to the awesome staff for helping me with my purchase! They also had a spinning display with different cards. The one that said "Kind People Are The Best Kind Of People" really spoke to me, so I got that to include with my gift. This little gem is really tucked away, right in the heart of Hampden. Seriously, if you don't know where ur going, you will NEVER find it. It's ironic bc of the mysticism behind the shop itself, it's pretty funny that it's hard to find (maybe that was intentional... who knows? But I love that it is). My advice. Call ahead if it's ur first time so u know exactly where to go. Not knowing what to expect, I am happy to report that this 'hidden' shop surpassed my expectations. Truly. Very friendly staff. Kaitlyn (sp?) was a fountain of knowledge. I went in for smudging stick. I figured there might be a container with smudge sticks in them. This is not that kind of place. This place is ready to offer choices. There had to be 10 to 15 different choices of smudging bunches to choose from. Of course this threw me for a complete loop and I was immediately overwhelmed. When asked what I was intending to do with the smudge stick, I was guided to a 'white sage and eucalyptus' bunching. She explained why that would be best best, for my needs, and was very satisfied with her explanation. This place is often incorporated into my self care days. I love their selection of incense, crystals and candles. Sometimes the energy is a little off but that's when I just shorten the time I spend in the store. I appreciate one of the workers, maybe the daughter.. she has dark hair... I'll have to ask her name the next time I visit. One day I went in and my energy was a little heavy ... I think she sensed it and asked if I needed help.. I said no at first. I've been here a few times and have enjoyed every visit. The owners are super nice and always happy to help and guide you to find what you need. Face masks are a must and store is kept clean as always. I was looking for some Palo Santo sticks. When I googled it this place came up. It is located in Hamden which is the next neighborhood over. this place is located on West 36th Street but you have to walk around back. Parking was a little challenging but once you go into the store it is pretty amazing! I actually illegally parked and left my daughter in the car. If I didn't do that I would have bought the whole store. They had some pretty amazing items here. I bought the last three sticks of the palo santo. I bought some White sage premium masala sticks. I loved the Black Cat that was there. Zombie was just relaxing on the chair. I have black cat as well so I felt like there was a connection. I am looking forward to going into the store again and spending at least an hour so I can explore. That's how amazing the experience was. The store employee was very helpful as well. I went in to get some sage so I could smudge the new house I moved into. After being approached by the owner I told her that I just relocated to Baltimore , was interviewing for jobs and needed something to help me ace the interview and land the job I was after. I had a hand full of different incense and sage but she honestly told me what I needed and what I should keep. I really appreciated her integrity in not trying to sell me things I didn't need to make a buck. I went home, cleaned my place and burned safe and incense before bed. Before my interview the next day, I burned some incense while getting dressed. I interviewed with 5 different people one after the other and I have never had a more relaxed, calm interview experience. Two weeks later I got a job offer and accepted. Absolutely LOVED this store! I had googled a few things I wanted to pick up so I was on a mission! I walked in the store and was amazed at how neat and inviting it was. Having moved from New Orleans I was used to a stores that were dusty and cluttered. This was far from that. After a few minutes I was approached by a gentlemen who asked if I needed help. He proceeded to ask me what I was looking for. He then went above and beyond with helping me locate that stuff as well as provide some other suggestions. I love the little artificial Christmas tree I keep in my bathroom, but I like to decorate it with real rocks! This is where i come for all the pretty rocks the world makes for me to put on my tree. It took us a minute to find the location of the store as it is not directly on 36th St. We ended up calling the store and the associate very kindly explained to us how to get to the store. When we entered, the smell of the incense was awesome. She greeted us very politely and stated she would be of any help if needed. The store does have a wide variety of crystals and incense, but is still somewhat sparse. I'm not sure how long the store has been around, but could benefit from upping the decor and stock. The associate did state that if there was something we wanted, they would order it for us. They also have a cat who is extremely friendly and soft. We will definitely return.
