The road in front can be busy so sitting outside you'd have to deal with the noise from the cars. We had Galettes, they serve vegetarian and vegan options as well as everything else. Everything is organic and regional. It tastes like home-cooked food and was quite delicious. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that the quantity was not enough in my opinion for a meal. I did not want to pay another €15 for another galette, but in spite of having enjoyed the food greatly I was still hungry when I left. To give an idea: we paid €40 for two galettes and two drinks; it would have been € 30 or more for seconds.

We came with various levels of French among us, and the staff were kind - welcoming and accommodating, and willing and able to assist in English, when needed. The menu consisted of all kinds of galletes and crêpes for all tastes -- from the usual complete or cheese and eggs to more elaborate house specialties containing chicken and seafood. There was also a "formule" of the day for those who want a full meal and wider range of items. We all ordered a gamut of their selections and were more than happy with all. I in particular wanted something on the lighter side -- so I was pleased to see a selection of salads served in a bowl lined with a delicious buckwheat gallette. The salad I chose ("salade des prés") was dotted with a creamy herb-laced cheese and contained lettuce, sliced pears and walnuts. It was light but satisfying. One of us chose the "basse cour" gallete which had chicken and seasonal vegetables served in a light herb-laced sauce. Flavors were clean and simple. Of course, there was a nice selection of local wines and Breton and Normandy ciders to complement the menu. We kept it simple for dessert --and ice cream sundae, one each of butter-sugar and chestnut cream crêpe sucrée. This seams to be a nice family-run place and it would be great to see them do well. Try it if you're biking or wandering in Montsoreau!

We ordered two savory buckwheat crepes called "La Mexicane" and "L'indienne". The La Mexicane had ground beef, onions and peppers while the L'indinne had curry chicken, cheese and onions. They were fast and flavorful! The crepes were about 11 euros each and well worth it. They have some simpler crepes, and even dessert crepes, that cost even less. I wanted to try the other flavors, but sadly did not have enough room.

The only problem is which crepes to pick, as everything they have is so good: Savory or Sweet, you name it. The best way to order: Close your eyes, pick up the menu, and order what your finger meets the menu: Will save you a lot of time trying to decide what to order :-) The seating is outdoors, causal, with a cobblestone street between you and the chateau. This is quintessential French cafe experience. The waiter/waitress spoke just enough English to do everything right, so no problem if you do not speak a work of French. They were very helpful, making sure you truly enjoy your visit. Tip: If you park your car across the street, do not autoamtically feed the meters. Check the hours when payment is required, and when it is free. I saw a lot of tourists wasting their money when parking was actually free.
