From what I have noticed it is actually safe, but that does not mean that I would not keep alert while in it even as an African American. CTA Kedzie is one of the high traffic areas in East Garfield Park due to everyone coming in-and-out, and also because of the liqa sto (One Eleven Food & Liquors) being posted about 100 meters from the station. I'm crossing my fingers that 'One Eleven Food & Liquors' gets torn down and becomes the parking lot for 'The Hatchery' once 'The Hatchery' has been completed, but that's a whole different topic. However, if you have ever been to this area you will understand what type of traffic it brings. The worst you will encounter in this area are drunks, druggies and drug dealers which stems from the liqa sto being a hit, but other than that it is just people trying to carry out their day whether that be going to school, work, or home via the train or bus. At night the traffic calms down, but that does not mean you stop being alert because it is pretty dark in this area once you get off that train and exit the CTA stop itself. Thomas G

It's a great stop in the midst of a neighborhood of people trying to do the best they can with that they were given. It is a crossroads of kids coming from and going to school, with a few restaurants thrown in the mix. It's actually a very safe area and there is a Garfield Outdoor Market on the south-eastern corner of the street on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings that has great produce. It's in the location of the soon-to-be-built "Hatchery", which is a food service small business incubator that has some very substantial community resource behind it.

The drivers do nothing to enforce the rules. And about once a month to every other month you get a rude driver who will talk to you like you are dirt. A change in management is needed.

The only downside is once on the platform, there is little shelter from the biting winter wind, or a blowing rain. For sure the location is what makes this as good as it is, because otherwise it's pretty average. There are some nice views of the area from here. A lot of cool stuff to check out around. It serves the Blue Line. This is located between the neighborhoods of Logan Square and Wicker Park. If you can't choose which hipster haven to go to, get off here and go to both. There's too many establishments to name them all, but a few include Revolution Brewery and The Native, among others. Bad things include it being busy. It's going to and coming from O'Hare, so there's often problems with keeping on schedule it seems. There can be long waits for trains.

Good as far as things like being safe and clean. There's also lots of opportunities to transfer between a few Lines. Before, this was a pretty old station but there's a newer one on the other side of the street with the modern amenities like arrival screens, and it's cleaner. It serves the Brown, Purple, and Red Lines. There's usually a train coming within a few minutes. Around here are a few interesting attractions. The DePaul Art Museum is next to it and it's always free. Good as far as stations go. It's busy so it's mostly safe and there's lots of places to eat around it. There's never a really long wait for trains.

There's a lot of cool ethnic restaurants. Good place to check out some places to eat around here. It serves the Pink Line. This is in the happening neighborhood known as Pilsen. Close to here is Douglass Park and a few others. There's also plenty of Mexican restaurants. It's pretty quiet for a station, compared to others, but it's clean. The trains seem like they take a little while longer between but it's not that long of a time to be honest. Here in the actual station there's also a convenience counter. In case you need to get anything, you can get it from here. This has some overpriced drinks and snacks.

This station is very well lit even at night. It is in the subway but I have seen some that are not…read moreas well lit as this one before and it is refreshing to see that when you are heading home. They do have an elevator at this stop but you have to go towards the LaSalle side in order to get to it, and that can be a little confusing because the station is so long. My only issue with the elevator and it is not CTA's fault but people go to the restroom in the elevator and the smell sometimes can knock you to the ground it is potent. They and try and keep it clean I have to give them that but this does not help the smell intermingling with your nose and making you want to pass out on sight. I know one time I came to the station to make a run to the store and it was garbage all over the place when I was getting on the train, but by the time I came back it was all cleared up. My grandbaby came and visited me and she dropped a jar of milk and the lady came with tons of paper towels and a bag so we could place the rest of our stuff in the bag and she helped us clean up the milk. I hear the train a comin' It's rollin' 'round the bend And I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when, I'm stuck in Belmont station, and time keeps draggin' on But that train keeps a rollin' on down to Dan Ryan... When I'm in Chicago, this is the CTA line that serves me most since it stretches the furthest from north to south. I stayed in Lakeview on my last trip, so hopping down to the Near North, the Loop and Chinatown was a cinch. It sure helps to know that the Red Line is open 24 hours a day with no more than fifteen minutes between trains. This is my public transportation of choice since I'm a cheap so-and-so and willing to risk some airborne germs to get where I need to go. Man, that screeching noise between North/Clybourn and Clark/Division really drives me crazy in the winter. So crazy that... When I was just a baby, my mama told me - "Son, Always be a good boy, don't ever play with guns. But I shoved a nun at Berwyn just to watch her cry Now ev'ry time I hear that whistle, I hang my head and sigh... Guess it helps me to know the Red Line will be waitin' for me now that I'm servin' time in Folsom.
