Surrounded by busking musicians and haggling hopefuls in search of a bargain, I take the leisurely walk through Rozelle Markets with a market coffee in one hand and market dumplings in the other. Unlike at Glebe Markets, you won't find stores of designer clothes or jewellery at Rozelle Markets. Instead you'll palm off your dumplings to a friend as you flick through racks of second hand coats, a household of discarded dresses & shoes, antique jewellery, vintage kitchen utensils and second hand books. My best market buys have taken place just before closing. In fact, I think this is my favourite time to take on Rozelle Markets. Whilst it's a far less leisurely endeavour, there's an urgency in the air as storeholders begin packing their goods into their trucks. It's your mission to find the best bargain at the end of the day and it's theirs to make that last sale/have one less thing to pack up. If you're going to get the price down at all now is the time they'll start dipping. But beware the crafty storeholders - if you 'overhear' a neighbour storeholder commenting that the frame you were checking out is going for a "really cheap price", then you were meant to hear every word of it. Whilst my parents commented loudly on their first visit that "there's a helluva lot of junk here", I've never left Rozelle Markets empty handed. The problem? Now they make the same comment whenever they enter my room.

I offered a brief explanation as to my strange behavior and the shop girl responded "No worries!" Phew, I wasn't going to be thrown out for manhandling their merchandise. When I finally sorted out which pieces were going to work best, I brought them all to the counter only to find out that everything was 30% off. SCORE! Aside from the plentiful accessories in this vintage shop, they also have a remarkable coat selection. With tweeds and furs abound, it's easy to get excited here- and with prices on the low end for vintage, feel free to get REEAAAL excited. I was able to create a custom pair of boots with awesome antique accessories for not a great deal more than the cost of my lunch.

Used to have a problem parking, but a cheap parking station has opened across the road - which is made it so much easier when their parking is full! I've had friends visit as I've told them about it. They came in by train, which they said was not far away. The staff are wonderful, and regular visits are worth it, as there are so many dealers and they bring new stock in all the time. Some of the items are actually 50% off from normal chemist (pharmacies). The intriguing thing here is I saw liquid products like fish oils instead of the tablet or capsules. There are also weekly discounts on certain items and you can stock up your needs accordingly. The store also carries different ranges of perfumes. First time I saw Mercedes-Benz's range of fragrances. The staffs are rather friendly and they will guide you to wherever you need to find the product. Cashier wise, depending on how many customers and how many staffs, it might be slower. Overall, it was a nice stopover and managed to get my essentials (tooth paste, centrum and lip balm) for less than $30. Score!! :)
