Every time I had come here to eat is a Frita. Delicious. Mariquitas with a side of garlic sauce are crisp, not greasy. We asked for a Frita with Cheese, no onions. Also for a regular one with onions. The Fritas are not seasoned to overpower the taste buds. Just a hint of seasoning. They come with the customary potatoes sticks. It gives them a crunchy complexion. A sample of Hot Cheese croquetas, fairly spicy. There are a couple of sizes to order. We took the three croquetas sampler. . They have Tostones sandwiches. I need to tried them next time I come to eat. Also their bowls look nice. Cuban Ice cream Sandwiches are different and delicious. They have top & bottom covered with a very sweet thin cake crust. Growing in Miami and especially in Cuban family I find that its very difficult to find good Cuban food outside the kitchen of grandma. Then my brother recommended this place which turned out to be really good Cuban food but with a more modern twist. Located on sunset and off 107 ave close to our home, this place has become one of our favorite places to pick something up when nothing is prepared at home. Here the most popular dishes are the Cuban bowls which come in several different flavors and the one we always choose is the steak bowl. The bowl consist of sliced palomilla steak on a bed of rice, they give you the option of white or brown rice, diced sweet plantains, and grill onions. Its truly amazing and the portions are good for an average person. We also ordered the Cuban sandwich, which in my opinion was good but the best Cuban I had but still very tasty and filling. so disappointed on the quality of food and presentation. we use to go to this location all the time and it's gone down so much I was so sad. We had 1 frita(ok) 2 bowls(ok) a pan con bistec (horrible it was cold & no taste) & an order of mariquitas. The service was just as bad the lady at the counter taking our order was annoyed that we were ordering food.. when we asked for the sauce for the Marquita's she literally huffed and puffed and what she gave us was a container of oil. My review is based on a parking lot event that you get to eat in your car (COVID-19 order to go and eat in your car). You can now get Burger Beast Burgers at any of their South Florida locations. Cuban Guys is great. My last visit here at the Cuban Guys on Sunset was to go out and support Burger Beast himself. He hosted a pop-up (car window hop) event at this location and it was fabulous. Troys Cereal Breaded Tenders with the Burger Beast Sauce Honey Mustard Curry is to die for. This is the best honey mustard sauce I've had in my life. The Guava Srirarcha Ketchup is pretty bomb too. If you haven't had a Burger Beast Burger go now! Other great items Cuban Guys had are their 2 for $6 fritas. You get two fritas for $6, one is on a Cuban roll and the other is on a Martins Potato roll. All the Burger Beast Burgers are awesome. I need to try the croqueta dog they have out now. Cuban Guys also has sandwiches like Pan Con Bistec or Pan Con Lechón. They also have Cuban bowls with sweet plantains (diced) that are to die for. Cuban Guys is here to stay. I had really been really looking forward to visiting this place, as I had throughly enjoyed their Toston sandwich ch from their food truck. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a disappointment. The Toston Sandwich was a delicious as that of the food truck. But we also ordered a Frita that was a bit tasteless, mariquitas that were also pretty bland, but then the biggest downfall was their Mini Papa Rellena. The outside was not very crunchy and once you bit into the beef they're stuffed with was cold. Like ice cold. Initially making fun of this establishment for its naming convention (five guys, burgers and fries--Cuban guys sandwiches and more) I was actually very impressed with this locations set up and the food chain in general. First off, this is definitely a fast food joint. It is your general run of the mill burger spot, but with Cuban food. I got the frita, which is a burger with those little julian fries on it. For the price (around 4$) it was a good amount of food. I also had the shake (single flavor malt) which was pretty filling. The food came out pretty quick and the staff were standard Miami helpful. The place seems to be a popular spot and do a lot of business, and I like the cultural connection being made here with the local folks. This place gets 4/5 because: 1: the food was a lot for cheap 2: for the cheapness, it was still pretty tasty. 3: an extra point for this elephant ear type breaded desert thingy I had that was lighter and more filling than a regular elephant ear (sorry I forgot the name) 4: food arrived fast. 5: loses a star here because the name of this place almost made me not come here (because I was making fun of it being too close to 5 guys) an impulse I wish wasn't propagated by the name. read more

This is my new favorite sandwich spot. I used to get my pan con bistecs from Palacio de los Jugos. Now, don't get me wrong, they do a good steak sandwich. But this place? I can't even tell you what they really do to make it so good, but it is SO. DAMN. DELICIOUS. I went from having pan con bistec a couple times a year to about once a week. My only regret is that this sandwich is so good, i haven't tried anything else on the menu! Except for the mariquitas, which are also great. My wife enjoys the Medianoche as well. A friend of mine kept posting this unbelievable food porn on another site, and every single pic would make me drool massively. He would repeatedly induce a case of food envy in me. And every time I checked to see where he was, he was at Cuban Guys. So when I drove by the location on Sunset Dr., I just had to make a stop. Arriving, this place reminded me of Palacio de los Jugos. There were a lot of people sitting outside, drinking coladitas and smoking cigarettes. Being later in the day, no office workers were here, and everyone was of very distinctive blue collar characteristics. And there were a lot of seniors too. I wondered if the big sign with the *$2 frita night* had anything to do with this. Once inside, the space was sparse. I don't know why they didn't make better use of the space, or why they chose the style of furniture they did, but Cuban Guys looks very plain, much like a very old fast food joint. The staff is very attentive, and maybe a bit too much. While I was trying to pick something off the menu (displayed in a large flat screen on the wall), one of the cashiers kept talking to me. Sensing that I just wanted to look at the menu, she finally called me over, just a few steps away, and handed me a printed menu, and told me that "it was easier to see the menu on print". I thanked her. But she didn't stop talking. More people came in, and I got distracted. But not her. She didn't flinch and kept chewing my ear. More people came in, and she politely told everyone to wait while she helped me. The whole thing was nonsense. Even though I could use the flattery, I had to pause our brief romance, and I told the waiting customers to order. And while other people ordered, I was able to make up my mind. After spending considerable time with this very nice young lady, I waited for my food to be made. Through the open kitchen I could see the staff running around like mad chickens. They were all very animated, but all of them were extremely focused on making the food right, and getting the orders right. For example, when my frita came out, the guy assembling the order double checked it and sent it back because they didn't put the extra condiments I had requested (lettuce, tomato, mayo). Nice catch and good job. With my order ready, I moved outside to ravage my treasure. First things first: the fritas are really good. The frita patties are well balanced, with a nice ratio of chorizo to beef, and that creates a patty that is not acidic, like most of the fritas at other places. Cuban Guys makes a nice, juicy, soft patty, and when you bite into it, you don't think "too much chorizo" (at least I sometimes do, at other places). The patties are basically flavored burgers. The other components of the frita (bread, lettuce, tomato, string fries) were not so good though. I am not sure if the ratio bread/patty was off, but my first bite was almost tasteless. Lots of bread, no sauce, lettuce, tomato, a tiny bit of the patty, and very under seasoned string fries. I grabbed some of the fries that had fallen out and yes, they were not seasoned well. This almost killed my frita experience. However, once I got to the middle of the sandwich, things changed. The center is moist, flavorful and tasty. I almost felt that I should have cut the sandwich in half and started eating from the center on out, and leave all the extra bread for the ducks. I will remember to do this next time, I shall. I also ordered the Cuban Guy Sandwich, the steak topped with ham and cheese, listed as an award winner sandwich. Now, that thing was magic. It was a bit heavy on some of the seasonings and the sauce, but it gelled perfectly and it was good from beginning to end. If it wasn't for this sandwich, this place was a two stars for me. I also got a batido de mamey. It was delicious. And I also got a tamal. The tamal was not so great, but I was able to eat it. To close with a bang, I got a flan. I picked the cappuccino flan, a coffee and milk rendition of the frothy drink from Italy, and not to be mistaken with the Cuban pastry that is a conical golden yellow cake drenched in heavy syrup, and also called a cappuccino. The flan was a bit above average, but very creamy. Other types of flan offered here are the regular flan, guava and cheese, and dulce de leche flan. For my bottom line, I would like to say that if every sandwich had the quality and taste as the Cuban Guy Sandwich, there would be no stopping the Cuban Guy. Dale! Yes, and the fritas are good and tasty, but you just have to play a bit with it and the seasonings. Other than that, nice place to stop by and have a frita. read more

First time here. On a Saturday afternoon I expected it to be packed but it wasn't. Maybe due to memorial weekend and people going away for the weekend. It was roomy and it looked uncluttered however the tables were dirty. Both my husband and I ordered the vaca frita bowls, my son ordered the chicken bowl and my youngest a chicken sandwich for kids. The food didn't take long to receive. We ordered to go so it was fast. The bowls can definitely use more flavor, the yuca fritters can use for seasoning specially a little salt. I ordered the Churros which were extremely greasy but it's expected as they are fried after all but they could place them on paper or something to soak up some of the oil. Both my husband and eldest son thought their bowls we're ok but nothing to brag about. I was a bit hungry after work and decided to stop in and give this place a try. I ordered the Mariquitas with the garlic sauce and a Frita with cheese. The Mariquitas (fried thin slices of plantain) were delicious! I enjoyed the garlic sauce that accompanied them. The Frita was good. I thought it was a bit too much bread per bite for my liking. We came here for dinner though and got the Pan con Bistec (steak sandwich), Frita (Cuban burger made with Chorizo), Cuban guy sandwich, mariquitas and a tequeno with guava and cheese! Everything was delicious! Bread was soft and fresh. They have a special every night of the week for something different. We opted for a vaca frita sandwich, a chicken sandwich, & some yuca fries. After ordering I noticed there was a frequent visitor reward program. It wasn't mentioned to me so that ball was dropped but no big deal I grabbed a card & registered it. You basically get 1 point per visit & after certain point levels you get rewards. I also noticed my purchase generated a coupon for a future visit. Offerings rewards is a nice way to show you appreciate your regulars. After getting our food I snapped a few pics & dug in. With the first bite I immediately was impressed with the flavor of my vaca frita. So many places either overcook it to where it's dried out or saturate it in so much grease you have to put paper towels on it to make it edible. Thankfully, neither was the case here. The chicken sandwich was great, the yuca fries had the perfect texture & the sauces served complimented all the food. The level of customer service shown by the management was top notch! We had a great dinner this past Saturday, where we had a Cuban Sandwich De Medianoche, with LOTS of Ham, Cheese, mustard and with a semi sweet yellow bread, toasted and with a delicious taste. We also had tamal with some pork and species inside. It was good. I didn't like the thin fries it came with but I loved the regular fries we order to accompany the sandwich. Tried this place out with my family and it was great! The sandwiches are super cheap and fresh. Once we ordered our sandwiches the wait time was no longer than 10 minutes. The Frita sandwiches were filling, but came with no side. The single Frita sandwich was $4. Good to know there are still cheap Cuban places like this around Miami. read more

I love this place. The food is always consistently good. It's just real down to Earth grub and I love it. It gets straight to the point and it's cooked with love. I have ordered the steak sandwich and couldn't finish it in one sitting. It was well worth the price. My stomach was full literally all day off of eating that sandwich, lol. They make unique french fries that are fresh and in-house. I haven't had a tamale in so long since moving from California and I don't believe I've ever tried a Cuban one. I ordered one from them and it was delicious along with a side of roasted pork. Everything blended perfectly. It was so good and flavorful. I'm trying their breakfast next and even though I ordered through a delivery app, I think the Manager/Owner (A Guy) called me just to confirm how I wanted my eggs. I found that to be so sweet and I'm so appreciative of it. Most restaurants would've just did anything and moved on with their day but for him to take extra effort to ask how I want my eggs, I appreciate it. It's the simple things. The only thing I suggest is for the stuffed potatoes to make it more meatier and like more authentic I guess. I had a coupon to this place, so I checked it out. The food was sub par, and for being a Cuban place in Miami, it was very bad. Many other Cuban places that serve huge quantities for cheaper. Sandwiches ranged from about $6-9, and that's just a sandwich with the thinnest slice of meat and a crap ton of potato stix, no sides. You might want to skip this one... but, if you do decide to go, check out there daily deals as it brings sandwiches down to about $4. This was our third time here but the first time as a Yelp'er. It was a take-out order of "pan con lechón," "media-noche," and "plantain chips." The media noche or Midnight Sandwich, a traditional go-to sandwich has Roast Pork, Sweet Ham, Swiss Cheese, Pickles & Mustard on a Sweet Cuban Roll; it tasted good. The big disappointment for me was the pan con lechón or also known as a Pulled Pork Sandwich- my all time favorite. This sandwich consists of slow roasted pork & raw onions with a house mojo(a Cuban BBQ sauce). Not sure why - it just wasn't happening this time. The other issue were the plantain chips. When I walked in there were about a dozen orders (just sitting there) under a heat lamp. Naturally, when I got back home-1/2 mike away they were borderline stale. This place is delicious! It has everything a cuban person loves to eat! We ordered so much food but we ate all of it. I ordered the cuban bowl with vaca frita. The bowl brings plenty of food. It starts with a bed of white rice smothered in black beans (which are seasoned so good) then half the bowl is topped with vaca frita and the other half diced platanitos. The mixture of flavors was amazing! To drink I had the batido de mamey which was so sweet and refreshing. I also loved that the prices were great. The cuban bowl is only $6.99!!! WHAT A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT !!! I remember this place as being awesome. My visit on May 20th was horrific ! The restaurant was slow as I went on a Thursday around 11:45 am. The floor of the restaurant was dirty when I came in. I approached the desk and the person taking my order didn't smile, didn't say hello, didn't care actually. She took my order and didn't even ask if I wanted anything else. She processed the order and had me pay. I ordered (3) pan con bistec, (1) papa rellena, (1) tamal preparado, (1) téqueńo. Total was 38.90 !!! I wouldn't have a problem with the price if I actually got a palomilla in my steak. The (3) pan con bistec were a joke. The steak is so finely cut, it's like literally as thick as a sheet of paper. That's how thin it is. Your literally eating bread, tomato and lettuce. The steak wasn't thick at all ! It is shocking to me how this franchise gets away with this. The tamal was cold and the pork on it was not seasoned. The papa rellena was good. The only thing that was. The tequeńo was also cold. Needless to say. I am NEVER returning to this or any location. It's highway robbery ! They used to be excellent when they opened, but it's all gone downhill because they obviously cutting back on the amount os steak they give in the pan con bistec. Over priced and not good. I went here expecting to scrutinize the frita, putting it under my strict quality test to see if it could match up against the heavy-hitters (Mago, Rey, and the CHAMPION: Morro Castle), and I have to admit: it stepped up to the plate and hit it out of the park. Ordered take out from here and honestly not sure what the hype is all about. Very average Pan con lechón - was flavorless and needed to dump the the whole cup of mojo I got with my mariquitas to give it some flavor and hot sauce to give it some life.
