Firstly it is a stylish salon but without any of that 'cliqueness' that some salons are so good at. You always get a unrushed consultation to decide what you want, a good haircut with a really nice shampoo. Staff seem genuinely friendly and it is a very comfortable experience. The only downside is the huge amount of money Southend Council charge for carparking. I cant recommend this salon enough.

Lee takes his time and gets the shape spot on. Usually I have to wait two weeks for my hair to settle in but not with Lee. Indeed Lee was recommended to me by word of mouth when I stopped a lady in Waitrose and asked who cut her amazing hair. On top of this he is a really nice person. Indeed all the people were delightful. Fussing over my baby and being very kind when I needed to stop for 10 mins to change and feed her. The atmosphere is friendly and inclusive. So many salons make me shrink with the b***chy gossip and there was none of that. Cannot recommend this salon enough. The only bad thing I can say is that I wish I had found it sooner.

After he started cutting my hair I was told that it would cost £10 instead of the advertised £8 because my hair was a "longer style" (about 10cm), I thought this was a joke at first and asked if I came back next week would it be more expensive again. He said "no the boss told me to charge more for the longer ones, you're lucky it's not even longer or that would be £15", obviously trying to make me feel like I was lucky. I replied that my hair had been longer before and I had only been charged £8, he asked who had cut it and I said "you did!". I could tell I was trying to be conned out of £2, I wonder how many other people he has done this to and pocketed the difference. He replied "alright, it will only be £8 this time and I was lucky the boss wasn't here". He then started cutting my hair more and commented "YOU REALLY SHOULD WASH YOUR HAIR before you come in here my brush can't get through it", despite spraying barely any water into my CURLY hair. Adding a very insincere "I wouldn't want to hurt you" whilst proceeding to yank at my hair with his brush and manhandle my head quite aggressively. The haircut finished after about 7 minutes with the result a very generic shape with no skill involved, he had simply hacked away at my hair in a rush (not even brushing the hair out of my ears or off my forehead). Probably so his boss wouldn't come back from picking up his child and I could question him. I handed over £10 and after taking his time at what I could see was a pretty full till he gave me a pound coin and five 20Ps I looked at him and he gave me a disgusting little insincere smile. I hope the boss of city barbers is a better person and will read this with the result of nobody having the same experience as me. Perhaps even to saving himself some customers and some money. I will never be going here again despite some previous good experiences with Hadir (who has now left). Visit city barbers at your own risk. I will post this everywhere to spread the word.

They sell bascially the same stuff although I find they have more items for babys although they don't sell formula milk. The store is rather large, bigger than superdrug. They have a couple of tills as the queues can get quite long. They also have a sale box by the tills where you can get slightly damaged items or cheap prices. Staff are always friendly and aisles are quite large to get a pushchair through without getting in the way. They also sell nice little gift sets close to christmas.

Eudu told me that he thought it would be better if I added some layers and showed off a cooler style. I am so glad I trusted his expert opinion. His cut is so good that all I have to go is wash and condition my hair and let it air dry. I've gotten tons of compliments from friends and family. Now Eudu has to move to SF so I can get regular cuts. I cannot recommend him more.

I told them I wanted the grey removed and my hair cut. i had booked in for foils (because i thought that was how i got rid of my grey as i had them previously, i also specifically said "i want my grey hair gone) rather than inform me of different options she went ahead with the foils and cut approximately a cereal bowls worth of hair from my head, this included the thinning out i need for my hair. £160 later, my hair is a frizzy wreck, my grey hairs are still visible and not one person in my family or friends has noticed that my hair has been done by a professional salon, which speaks volumes really. The last but saddest issue here is that on complaining the lady offered that I go back into the salon so they could sort my hair out. Firstly can you imagine how uncomfortable that would be and secondly for a professional and long established salon, should I have to take more time off work and another £12 car parking to come back, for £160, i would suggest you get it right the first time. I wont be back mainly because the customer service has left a lot to be desired. My last email being completely ignored. I have been going to Antoniou since i was a teenager, I am now middle aged and had this been a £44 cut it may have been different. Please note this style wasn't even finished just roughly blow dried for my £160 pounds. Absolutely disappointing
