Well worth a visit next time you are on Majorca. The Cuevas del Drach are a well developed tourist destination (and have been for a long time!). The tickets are timed, and each group proceeds together. Things move along fairly smoothly, but can seem crowded at times. The well maintained concrete walkway and stairs have sturdy handrails. The cave can be wet in places, so keep hold! The cave features very impressive formations and has a large lake at the bottom. It is here that a simple bench area (seating several hundred) offers your group a place to rest and enjoy the concert. Lights go out, and a ghostly line of row boats float out with a string quartet playing lovely baroque pieces. Truly magical! read more

Great cave to see while in Palma. However, the tour was completely rushed. The employees inside the cave hurried everyone to the seats at the end of the cave so you could hear the acoustics of 3 different Bach songs. It was incredible but so were the sights in the cave we were getting rushed through. I understand they want to get as many people in and out to give as many people as possible an opportunity to see the cave. Profit is profit but it would have been 100% better if we were given a few more minutes to take it all in. This is by far the best cave I have ever been in. The lake inside is one of the largest underground lakes in the world and the short boat ride was worth the wait. When looking at the seats for the music section try to sit toward the bottom right while the music is playing. The bottom right is where the line starts for the boat ride after the music stops. We were on a tour from the new Royal Caribbean ship and a group of us decided we were going to get a boat ride and the bus wouldn't leave without such a large number of people. We got our boat ride and the tour bus waited for us. However, there were warnings that the bus would not wait if you were late because the tour bus had to take you to the pearl store to sell you earrings and necklaces. This would get a high 5 rating if everyone wasn't rushed in and out but it's still a must see if you want to see natural beauty. A real incredible place. read more

Our last stop of the two week vacation brought us to the island of Majorca Spain. We rendezvous with friends from Long Beach and who rented a Hyundai SUV for six days. I ended up driving for the days since it was a manual transmission and the ladies didn't know how to drive a stick. We made it a point to spend the day on the east side of the island and visit these caverns. In route we stopped in Campos for a a latte and sammie. We arrived in time to purchase tickets and catch the 12:00 group. I suggest getting there early because the tourists are brought in by the bus loads and the next entry was not till 14:00 (2:00). We arrived late morning and purchased tickets on site. The underground caverns were incredibly natural sculpted pieces of art and some even had rivers of crystal clear water in them. Towards the end the group was seated in a natural theater setting where a small boat with several musicians played violins of several songs, afterwards we boarded on the boat that took us for a ride thru the caverns. We really enjoyed this day trip and hit up the beautiful beach of Porta Cristo afterwards which is minutes from here. read more

Overall, the Cuevas del Drach are a cool but IMO not worth it experience. Beware that it is a major tourist attraction -- felt like a tourist factory. The "tours" run every hour and my estimate is that 500-1000 guests are in each time slot. I visited in October aka "slow season" and there were SO many people! You wait in a long amusement-park style line until the tour start time, and then they let the entire line in. You get rushed through the narrow walkways of the caves by employees stationed throughout; they don't really allow you any time to really take it all in and enjoy it. There is no one explaining anything (this is not really a "tour") nor are there any informational signs throughout; I would have liked to learn more about the caves while in them. Then as you approach the end, you are seated (very tightly, sardine-like!) for a special surprise. While the surprise was nice, I didn't like having no choice but to partake in it. I would have preferred the option of leaving or staying. When the "surprise" ends, you have to work your way through the crowd to exit. If you are claustrophobic, beware of all of this! The caves themselves were awesome but again, the rushed, crowded experience gives you no time or space to actually enjoy. If you are visiting Mallorca and are on a tight itinerary, perhaps consider skipping this. We were in Mallorca for 10 days and even then, we found the caves not to be worthy of our time here. I would use this time to enjoy any other of the many beautiful things to do on the island. read more

Waste of time. We booked the Drach Caves and Pearls shore excursion through Shoretrips.com. First of all, I don't know how they can possibly call this a private tour when the guide can't come in the caves with you, there are no guides in the caves, and the Drach Caves operators push through an ungodly # of tourist every hour. In fact, my daughter and granddaughter had to leave the caves shortly after the tour started because of claustrophobia- not because of the caves, but because of the crowds. There is no information about the caves during the tour. The caves provide a small brochure to explain the sights, but it was too dark to read while inside. The caves are beautiful, but nothing as spectacular as caves I've seen elsewhere. Very monotone in color. Contrary to the description of the excursion, we did not get to wander through the caves, nor did we get a boat ride serenaded by musicians. We were jammed in the place like sardines, herded through quickly, and would have had to wait a long time to cram into a boat with 20 other people for the "magical" boat ride across Lake Martel. At the end of the tour you are forced to sit down and listen to a short concert on the lake with musicians playing from boats. The music was lovely, but everyone around us was talking and we couldn't see the boats because they move to a place on the lake only visible to 1/3 of the audience. And if your tour offers a visit to the famous "pearl factory & museum", next to the caves, please note that it is nothing but a store and cheesy, grainy video. Just another place for unwitting tourists to drop cash before or after being herded to the caves. read more

It's a bit touristy only in the sense that there are *a lot* of people, but it j bet bothered me and i felt able to see and experience everything fully even so. if you like crystals, caves, nature, natural wonders, this is definitely worth the hour or so it takes. read more

It was pretty and entertaining. There were beautiful light that made the caves look even more magical. I loved everything about it. The only negative thing was that there were a lot of people so it was kinda crowded and for me with claustrophobia it really bothered me but if you're not claustrophobic I would totally recommend it. If you're claustrophobic maybe think about it twice. I could handle it but if u have it really bad maybe this place is not for u. When u left the cave there was also a little place where u could eat and drink something so that was nice too. read more

When I was growing up near Wash DC, I had heard of Luray Caverns, but never went. I believe it is similar to Drach Caves. I think Drach Caves is worthwhile to visit in Palma De Mallorca, Spain. I like seeing interesting geological formations like this. This planet Earth is a planet after all, and seeing formations like this remind you of this kind of universe. It is a wonder. It is very busy when you go with a lot of people, but you can get through in a decent amount of time. But actually most time will be spent waiting for people to fill the seats in the auditorium! My only complaint is having to spend so much time waiting for the seats to fill and for the classical music to start. I thought the classical music was nice. They started with Pachelbel's Canon and ended with Barcarolle. I love those songs, so it was worth it. It was creepy with the lights off in the underground cave. I really liked taking the boat ride through the lake. I made sure to get out of my seat as soon as I could to get in line for the boat. Otherwise, you walk over the bridge. The walk back is uphill and there are steps. Really interesting site. I had previously signed up to take a catamaran ride to a beach this day, but it got canceled because of rain. read more

Very Interesting! I ended up doing the Drach Caves tour as part of our US Navy Port-call in Palma. Upon arrival the air was a crisp clean piney Mediterranean scent. At the caves I was expecting it to be cold and damp inside; however it was warm and humid; but warm enough for jeans and short sleeve polo. I've visited some caves in the USA and these have some pretty awesome stalagmites and stalactites. The foot path winds through the cave with several stairs and has handrails to hold onto. The total time in and out is about 50 minutes to an hour. Halfway through the caves they have an awesome quintet concert performance that consists of 2 cello's, 1 violin and a organ all on a small boat that paddles on Lake Martel. It's at this time you're supposed to close your eyes and just listen to the music and let your imagination run wild. Afterwards they allow you to travel across Lake Martel in one of the boats (about a 5 minute ride) or walk on a path the runs along the small underwater lake. The average depth of the lake is about 10 feet with the deepest spot being about 30 feet. I wished they had some underwater lighting to take some cool pictures of the lake itself. As its hard to do with the minimum lighting and prohibited flash photography. After which you end up climbing several more stairs to the exit of the cave and out to the gift shop area and your tour ends. **Overall it's something really cool and also educational for the younger ones too. Only bad thing is I wished they turned on the underwater lights when you cross Lake Martel to allow cooler photo opportunities and can see the bottom of the lake as the water is that clear. We got a service bus from Cala Millor and arrived at 2pm (on a Wednesday) only to find that all tours were full until 18:00. As we were with kids, we decided not to hang around. Apparently it's advised to book your trip and tour time on their website a few days beforehand. Sadly we didn't know this advice until too late... 2 stars are for general experience. read more

We took this tour because my husband was interested in seeing the underground cave and there weren't many other tour options that our cruise ship offered. The cave itself looked neat, but I thought that the placement of some of the lights near some of the formations made it look not realistic. The little musical show and boat ride out of the cave were cool but way too crowded. Overall, it's a nice place to visit if you have nothing else to do in the area. read more

So, headed over to Porto Cristoto check out Drach's Cave. We made the terrible mistake of going to Hamm's cave first because the signs are fairly deceiving and just read caves. They were a terrible disappointment, so don't be taken in by the roadside signage. Continue on past Hamm's to Drach's. It is a beautiful massive cave with a large underwater lake and lovely concert. It was a great little get away trip for the day and the lines were not bad at all on our arrival. read more

on a flyer for trip to Coves del Drach it is written that for 14.50 eur, you will have live concert and a trip on a boat on the underground lake.The same info is given on their official site. And pictures are shown of a big spacious lake. But in fact they have shown us very little lake where two boats bearly can go in a circle. There was NO live concert, only recorded music. Boat trip with music had only approx. 7 persons- first in a row (from approx. 20 persons). And price was 21eur. The advertisement for a trip to cave is extremely misleading.
