Our last stop of the two week vacation brought us to the island of Majorca Spain. We rendezvous with friends from Long Beach and who rented a Hyundai SUV for six days. I ended up driving for the days since it was a manual transmission and the ladies didn't know how to drive a stick. We made it a point to spend the day on the east side of the island and visit these caverns. In route we stopped in Campos for a a latte and sammie. We arrived in time to purchase tickets and catch the 12:00 group. I suggest getting there early because the tourists are brought in by the bus loads and the next entry was not till 14:00 (2:00). We arrived late morning and purchased tickets on site. The underground caverns were incredibly natural sculpted pieces of art and some even had rivers of crystal clear water in them. Towards the end the group was seated in a natural theater setting where a small boat with several musicians played violins of several songs, afterwards we boarded on the boat that took us for a ride thru the caverns. We really enjoyed this day trip and hit up the beautiful beach of Porta Cristo afterwards which is minutes from here.

Overall wonderful, a nice way to start our day and a beautifully immersive and unique nature experience. It's a bit touristy only in the sense that there are *a lot* of people, but it j bet bothered me and i felt able to see and experience everything fully even so. if you like crystals, caves, nature, natural wonders, this is definitely worth the hour or so it takes.

5*p Caves of Drach aka Cuevas del Drach Carretera les Cuevas, s/n 07680 Porto Cristo Palma de Mallorca A great site of underground caverns with beautifully-patterned stalagmites and stalactites e.g., The Baths of Diana, The Ruined Castle There is an underground lagoon where classically music is performed on boats. The acoustics are phenomenal.

Caves covered with stalactites and stalagmites.

Very comfortable walk on well constructed and maintained walkway that takes you to a natural amphitheater where boat carrying a string quartet play a show and demonstrate the perfect acoustics of the cave. The tour culminates in a short boat ride across the natural lake at the bottom of the cave. Incredible display of stalactites and stalagmites. Kids will will really enjoy this tour as well.

We made the terrible mistake of going to Hamm's cave first because the signs are fairly deceiving and just read caves.

First you buy your ticket and then wait for the next tour group to go through. They break it down into manageable groups to guide you through the caves and not overcrowd them. Being off season now, it wasn't very busy. Parking was easy and our group was a nice mix of friendly folks. The guide speaks several languages and will repeat each section in the languages represented in the group. It can be hard to hear in the caves if you are further back, so if her/his presentation is important to your experience, be sure to stay closer to the front. One should also know that there are a lot of stairs and dim lighting. This may not be the best excursion for someone that is mobility challenged. We brought my sister's 6 month old but had him in a chest harness. He loved the music and light show but the coolness of the caves compounded with the dim lighting sent him right to sleep for the remainder of the tour. As for what you'll see, just wow. So many variations of structures from large to small. The detail is astounding! The scale is sometimes overwhelming. Having been to other cave complexes/caverns, these do not disappoint. It's well worth the visit and a perfect outing for a cloudy day. Side note, while you're waiting for your tour or when you're done, spend some time along the wall looking down toward the sea. You may be lucky and spot the Wild Mallorcan Goat! We saw two about 20 feet away from us but would have missed them if we didn't look straight down.

This was my favorite tourist spot in Mallorca because it is completely unique to the region. Just remember to wear the appropriate attire when walking through the cave (no heels, someone in our group suffered). It is also not handicap friendly. Someone also brought a small dog with them and it was super annoying because it kept barking. Yes, this place is dark and scary so dont be THAT person.
