I am a mathematician, and logician. Prior to retaining Krispin, I did much legal work on my own, including a 100 page filing in the Court of Appeals. I chose to retain Krispin because the local court system is not fair for ProSe litigants. I retained Krispin for a custody case and paid $3,500 on Feb 15, 2023. I later retained him for two more cases ( one Superior Fraud case and a  District Court case ). I paid $8,000 on Feb 25th for the other cases. I met Krispin in his parking lot and I found his mannerisms to be unique and exteremely positive. I was excited to have an attorey that showed integrrity. After my forst meeting with him I had another, and I was shocked that we covered the exact samed topics in the same manner. He did not remeber anything. I was in shock and unsure how to proceed. I assumed the best and figured everything would work out, because I did alot of legwork in all the cases. Sadly, I was mistaten, Krispin sabatoged each case as much as possible. #1 Custody case: A. He missed two calendar calls, his only responsibility for the case. This pushed back the hearing over two months. Additionally, both his office and he claimed they showed up.....which was somewhat true. There was an attorney from his firm at the calendar call, but he did not represent me. The opposing council chose the date without any input from me. B. It took 3.5 months for his office to pull the file and understand what was going on in my case.  This is beyong unnaceptable. C. I filed a contempt motion in Novemeber that needed to be calendared.....it has still not been calendared. I will calendar it, because his office have proven to be unrelaiable. D. He was supposed to share information about payment with the opposing council.....it never happened ( 3+ months ) #2 Superior & District Cases A. Upon my first meeting he agreed to take both cases and file my motions to set aside. During the second meeting he said he would only assist with the Appeal of the Superior case and the motion for district court. This is a breach of the original agreement. Sadly, both statements were untrue. B. I wrote up an appeal and submitted it to his office in Fenruary 2023....nothing happened for months. Eventually,  the opposing council filed a motion to throw out my appeal. Krispin talked to me the Tuesday before the hearing. He told me he would respond with a plan to go after the opposing council for lack of notice for the heariing. However, he never got back to me. I had no idea what was going on. at 5PM Friday ( case was Monday 10AM ) he told me he would not do anything and I was on my own. I was in shock! I lost the case because I chose not to blame him in Court.   C.  He never entered an appearance in the district Court case. He was supposed to email a list of assets to the opposing attorney in February. He has teh list and never emailed anything. In May I retailed a different attorney for this case. D. After I was screwed in the Superior & District cases I requested a refund of teh $8k. Krispin initially agreed, and said he would get back to me with a plan before 10PM Friday night....he never called. I waited patiently for several days before contacting his office. Eventually he called and proposed he keep $1500 for a future emergency custody hearing. Initially, I agreed. Hence he agreed to send $6500. After a day of thought. I concluded his office has nothing positive and I did not want to prepay for a future case. I emailed him as much, his office chose to schedule a consultation ....I didn't need a consultation just a refund. The consultation got pushed back a week. At which point I pointed out I needed a refund and email confiormation....not a consultation. At this piint I recieved a check from his office...for $6000. The letter claimed it was for a settlement. The correct amount was for $6500 and it was a refund plus prepayment of a emergency custody case. He denied it in an email.....this is credit card fraud. At this point I understand his memory is not functional. He morality is non-existtent. My initial impression was off. read more

my recommendation is do not hire this lawyer, not even for traffic matters. he is all about MONEY and not the client or the person he hired to represent...granted its a business and i would not be writing a negative review if he was competent, which he was not. this is a 1attorney law firm...needless to say his case load is overwhelming which brings up his disorganization and the incompetence. this guy does not see his clients as people but as a financial opportunity. he sees the financial gain in taking on cases...and it would seem that he does not turn any case down...no matter the workload, and he will do a poor job on every one of them with mistakes after mistakes. besides the fact that the guy is just plain rude and unprofessional, he does not communicate nor relay important dates, he is disorganized, does not prepare for the case or trial until the night of and he even told me as we entered court that he plan was to essentially "wing it" which he did very poorly...he was very unprepared for my case, failed to admit a key pieces of evidence and the support staff around this lone attorney are just as unorganized and incompetent. i 100% agree with Yan L experience. this lawyer was so bad at his craft, i caught myself thinking if he was paid by the opposing counsel. he will make a decent impression in the consult meeting but the wheels will fall off soon after. this is from my experience others may have a different take but i doubt it. rule of thumb...when a lawyer brags about a case they won some 20+ years ago, its a red flag. every negative stereotype there is about a lawyer, this guy is the poster child. i plan to lodge a complaint with the NC Bar. this guy is a vile human read more

He takes an outrageous retainer, and when done with your case, will not give you an accounting of what was done and the charges, and told us we had money left ( over $3000 ) and it's been a year and he still hasn't given us a statement of what funds were spent on, or our money back. Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness If a -10 was a rating, this is what I would give this man. Mr. Culbertson, is very condescending, lies, he has a very short temper and when you do not understand what he is saying and re ask a question, he gets really upset. My experience with his him was horrible. I send emails, he never answers, but claims that he "spend so much time reading my emails"- which he didn't because everything he needed and asking me for was in all the emails. He is MONEY HUNRGY. I wish I NEVER left my other lawyer. That was my worst decision. He partnered with the other attorney I am assuming after he noticed he made some pretty bad mistakes that is now costing me. I could not tell where my money went. Once I got my court order that he never read, things were in the order that I NEVER agreed to. One a phone call before I terminated him, He yelled at me telling me about his years of experience. I do not care what experience you have; you should not take on cases if you are not going to fight and give it your all. I drove 1 hour and 30 minutes to a schedule appointment. He had his secretary call me and say he was still in court and he needed to reschedule or push the time back. After I explained to her that he couldn't have been in court because "I'm watching him drink out of a cup and pulling his brief case in the parking lot", he then followed through with the appointment. He gave me some of my money back and said he is willing to help me although he was not representing me. I THINK NOT! Why didn't you help me when I paid you all of the money you asked for and I did all of the leg work. To some things up...... DO NOT USE HIM! I pray people/ parents could just get along and stop bickering as I took money from my children's mouths to get poor services and a rude attorney. The other attorney played her part well. First time every hiring a lawyer and it was the worst experience I have ever had. With 3 tickets and a lawsuit, I persued Mr.Culbertson thinking that with his experience and the price he quoted me I would be in good hands. I trusted him and hoped that he would make my situation better. I never thought the lawyer had the ability to continue a case that was dismissed. But that was not the worst part. He failed to appear on my behalf. Now, as a mother of 4, I have had to fire him TODAY and have decided to represent myself. With the results I have gotten from him, I believe the lack of my legal knowledge is way better than the lack of concern for my situation.
