We went yesterday afternoon, and everything we had was absolutely delicious! We ordered the catfish dinner with collard greens and dressing, and everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Our waitress, Sky, and the bartender, Eric, were both so nice, friendly, and welcoming. They made our experience even more enjoyable. We had a wonderful time and truly enjoyed our visit. Landed here on a Friday after 10 PM because it's open and it's actually really good. It reminds you of a sports bar with big screens, a DJ was spinning and there's a cop at the door checking women's purses & frisking men. Immediately upon entering there's a variety of booths, tables and bar seating. We opted for a table on the opposite side of the DJ so we could hear each other talk. Service was from Mimi who was very helpful in recommending the sides for our entree. We ended up ordering the jerk wings (appetizer), turkey wings with collards, dressing and candied yams. I ate the wings as my entree and we shared the sides. The presentation was great. Real plates & flatware. The sides came in their own bowls so the food doesn't touch. Sometimes, a lady just wants a cocktail. Summary: Good spot. Would visit again. In this economy, you're going to spend more than you'd like. The strip mall entrance and parking a bit of a challenge. Full review below: I went in Saturday afternoon. It was lightly busy but fully staffed so help/attention came quick. Dining solo so I opted for a seat at the bar. Bartender was super attentive. Didn't have to wait long for a menu or to place my order. Also, she regularly checked in on how everything was. I ordered the Yellow Diamond Martini ($15) and it was delicious. I got the fried green tomatoes (4 pieces) for $11.95. Complimentary very tall cup of water. The tomatoes were a little small so this is definitely an appetizer/light snack...which is A-OK for me. It came out shortly after my martini was ready. Overall, minus tip, it came to $29. Music was playing through a speaker but not too loud. People could comfortably have a conversation. There are multiple tvs throughout. I appreciated that some of them were showing stuff other than sports. One monitor, near the restroom, is devoted to Culturistic Kitchen content, which is smart. I did use the restroom. It's two stalls and two sinks. The non-handicap/ADA stall is tiny. I'm like a medium-sized woman who is 5'7 and even I was like yikes. When the place is busy/packed I could see a wait or a line for the bathroom. The one major downside...which is not Culturistic Kitchen's fault is that the strip mall is not easy to get out of and onto the main road (Jodeco Rd) especially if you're turning left. The parking lots for all the shops, which are great businesses, should be bigger than it is. Don't be surprised if, during peak times, you may have to park 1-2 doors down from the restaurant. Overall, I would go again. I don't go out to eat that often (there's food at the house ) but if I want a good cocktail and a light snack or try some of their regular food items, I would come again. More than likely, I'd choose an off-peak time because I wouldn't want to experience it at near full capacity but that's just me. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this establishment. I walked in and the place was practically packed. There were a few tables available and the hostess allowed us to select where we wanted to sit. There is a bar and hookah's are available. The restroom was clean and there was more than one stall. I ordered the Rasta Pasta with shrimp and it was delicious. I was also able to sample the Rasta Pasta with chicken and it was just as good. I personally prefer the shrimp and will try the salmon during my next visit. The pasta doesn't come with a protein. The downside is each protein you add costs an additional $10. The portion was huge. So, if you don't eat a lot, order one serving of Rasta Pasta and add the proteins that the two of you would like to try and it's an inexpensive date! read more

My Husband and I decided to try this restaurant last night and it did not disappoint! There wasn't a wait for us to be sat at the table. Inside had a great vibe. Our server Skyler was awesome! Our food was delicious!He had the shrimp basket with seasoned fries and he really enjoyed it.I had the Rasta Pasta. The salmon bites were like probably the best I've ever had and then drinks are really strong, especially for happy hour then last one at least the service was really great and the atmosphere was clean I'm a big on bathrooms and this is like the cleanest bathroom. I went here for Sunday brunch. I made a reservation online via Yelp, but it wasn't necessary as there was not a wait and very few guests present. I arrived at 11AM. Brunch is from 11AM-2PM on Sunday. However please note that, alcohol/mimosas cannot be served until 12PM. I ordered the CK French Toast Tres Leches breakfast. The online menu is incorrect. There is not a lemon drop flavor and the breakfast actually comes with a meat and a side. Luckily, I was able to swap out the meat for potatoes for no additional charge. Service was great! The restaurant played Gospel music. It was loud, but they do have a sign that says, "If the music is too loud, you are too old" LOL. I sat inside but looksl forward to returning to sit outdoors and play some of the game they have. I saw corn hole, giant connect four, and darts. The food was delicious, large portions and filling. A single cranberry mimosa was $9 and served in a large wine glass. I enjoyed the mimosa as well. Overall, I give this establishment an A and would love to return for karaoke night. read more

The food was great. I had my doubts but was pleasantly surprised. The Spinach dip was enough for three to share comfortably without asking for more chips. My Fish sandwich was awesome also and the rest of the food was seasoned just right. Service was nice and friendly but disappeared at times. The ambiance was real chill ( we went around 3 on Sunday ). The food score this day as an 89 B. The one turn off for us though is that this place allowed hookah smoking. We did not see anywhere where is said they do this kind of thing. Our first visit here was a pleasant one. The food was very good! I had the catfish & grits & it was delicious! The catfish was cooked to perfection & the grits were smooth & creamy, not gritty. We went around 12p & they only have the brunch menu at that time. Those are the only things they have prepped so you can't venture out much from the menu. My friend's salad was not part of the brunch menu but they made an exception for her, according to our waitress. Our waitress was nice. I think she was new, or she seemed to be new, but she was pleasant. The only thing I didn't like, or appreciate, is when she asked if I wanted cheese with my dish. I said "sure, but on the side", so she brought me a small to go container of cheese. I never ate it, it literally stayed on the table, but when I received the bill I was charged $1.50 for a side of cheese. I asked why I was charged & she said it was bcuz I said yes. Well, I said yes bcuz she asked if I wanted it, like it was included with the meal, but apparently it was not & she did not offer to remove the charges. I told her she could have it back, bcuz I didn't eat it, but ended up giving it to my friend who took it home with her. SO IF YOU'RE OFFERED SOMETHING ASK IF THERE IS A CHARGE FOR IT BCUZ YOU WON'T KNOW UNTIL YOU RECEIVE THE BILL! The restaurant is nice & I'm sure the vibe is very chill. We came here as a large group after a graduation. I had the glazed salmon plate that comes with 2 sides - I got the fried okra and mac & cheese. I really enjoyed my plate. The salmon was grilled and the glaze was sweet...the fried okra was also tasty. The mac & cheese was alright; it lacked some flavor. I had water with my meal. Went here on a Sunday afternoon. Service was kind of slow for the place to be fairly empty. Best thing I had was the sweet tea. Ordered chicken and red velvet waffles. Waitress o immediately told me there was a $2 up charge to make the waffles red velvet. Like how they tell you guac is extra at Chipotle; the chicken was fried perfectly but lacked seasoning. The food is delicious. We've been twice. I enjoyed the catfish, mac & cheese, and yams. The second time, I tried the turkey wing w/rice. The flavor was on point. I would have liked the turkey to be cooked a little longer for a more of a fall off the bone effect. But it was still very tasty. Whatever you do, make sure to get the YAMS!!! I had them both times. Came in because of the yelp reviews as I was in the area. It's at the end of a strip mall area. There is free parking which is always a plus. The decor is nice and booths were set up nicely. There was only one young man working when came in but he was doing a great job being the host, bar tender, and server. He gave great recommendations on drinks and food. He let us know it was family business and truly family restaurant. We tried the spinach dip, rasta pasta with salmon, fried chicken, greens, yellow rice, and the Philly cheese. We walked in at 2:00 for a late lunch. There were only a couple tables seated at this time. The interior was hip and intimate, it smelled neutral, and looked clean and well maintained. We were pleasantly greeted by Kayla and Teron. We let Kayla know this was our first visit. She was friendly and expressed her attention to details as she took an extra wipe to our table. We asked for recommendations and she shared her knowledge of a few guests favorites. The tables are close enough to the bar that Teron also engaged with us and checked in on our experience. We each ordered the burger medium-well and it was perfectly cooked through out. The flavor was beefy. The aioli added the zing of flavor that combined with the fresh toppings and upped the burger a level. I had an egg added to my burger- I recommend this addition as the rich yolk was so scrumptious and elevated both the burger and fries. I look forward to making this a McDonough favorite. We (my husband and I) took my mama-n-law here for her belated bday celebration, 2 weekends ago. I must say we LOVED it! We went on a Sat. night and unbeknownst to us, this was the night for Karaoke! We were shocked, but in for a good surprise! Although it was packed, and we needed reservations, we were still able to be seated within 10 minutes! Our waitress was attentive, busy, but attentive. We did wait a while before we got our food, but it was expected b/c it was crowded, and we didn't have reservations. Not a biggie! When I tell you it was well worth the wait! The food was "bussn"! I ordered the cajun chicken alfredo. The only neg. thing I have to say about it is, that I wish it wasn't spaghetti noodles..not used to that at all! But it was a good taste though. My mama-n-law got the fried chicken that she said was great! My husband had the fried catfish and he said it was great also. Oh, I almost forgot, I got the salmon bites as an appetizer. They were a bit over-cooked but was seasoned well! I prob. will try again just to see if they will be cooked better. Highly recommended! My husband I went on a Friday at around 6. They do have happy hour on Tuesday - Friday from 4-8 pm so we caught those prices which was good. Around that time, they bought in a DJ that was playing a mix of 90s and 2000s R and B so that was definitely a vibe but the music was a little loud for my liking. But it could have been good for other folks. Now for the food, I will say everything came out fresh. We started with lemon pepper wings and they were really good and crispy. My husband ordered a burger and said the patty was seasoned and the burger was very good. I got the blackened salmon with 2 sides (Mac and cheese and sautéed spinach). The salmon was cooked well and the honey sauce was good. As for the sides, the sautéed spinach was very good but the Mac and cheese was not well seasoned and felt like it may have been sitting out a while. I wish it would have been better. My husband also got a Long Island iced tea and said they were definitely not stingy with the liquor so take that how you want to . Overall, I will definitely give this place another go. My husband and I went to the restaurant on February 13th. The food was excellent. I had the Rasta Pasta, with the salmon. My husband had salmon with greens and sweet potatoes. The service was also excellent. I gave 4 out of 5 stars because the music was too loud for my comfort. I had to leave prematurely. Took my mom here for her 75th birthday dinner. I didn't feel like driving into the city. Made a 7pm reservation online arrived on time with a party of 4 including myself. Upon arrival your greeted by the massive circular bar and it was filled with folks hookahing (not even sure if thats a word) and having a good time. Soft music was playing in the background. We ordered wings and fried green tomatoes as the app and i thought they were good. My brother ordered the steak entre, my son ordered the Pasta with chicken, my mom had the ribs and i had the lamb chops. Everyone finsihed they plate with the exception on my son. He took his to go. I would say the veggies/sides where a little over cooked but that was the only thing i would change. At 8pm, the DJ comes alive, and the music changes and the place get lively. One of my pieces was very large and needed to had been fried longer. (I asked for fried hard) The Mac n cheese was not a favorite at all. It wasn't fresh. The side of mash potatoes was the star of these show. 10/10. I believe meals like this should come with some type of bread. Maybe garlic bread or cornbread. One of my friends got the salmon Philly and stated it was good (7.5/10). Was on the drier side so she got some mayo. The bread was buttery and crispy. Okra was good. Egg rolls - FYE.
