While fast food generally isn't my thing when I travel, Wisconsin is the birthplace of Culver's, so I stopped in for a quick lunch for my first Culver's food experience at their Elkhorn, WI location. While the interior didn't scream cleanliness, I liked the open layout and pictures of their signature menu items up on the walls. The staff was patient with me as I looked over their menu as a Culver's first timer. We went with their grilled chicken sandwich, butter burger with cheese, onion rings, fries, and a concrete mixer (custard plus mix-ins). The food, while freshly prepared, was of quite unremarkable fast food quality, but did the job of filling us up. The onion rings in particular were over salted which made them a little unappetizing. I had heard great things about their custard, so was excited to try out their Oreo concrete mixer, but it was similar in taste and consistency to a McFlurry at McDonald's (perhaps I should have stuck with plain vanilla custard). The food was quite overpriced as all fast food is these days. While I'm happy to have had my first Culver's visit and wouldn't object to visiting another location in the future, the otherwise average and unmemorable fast food experience won't have me rushing back either. read more

Missing items in the drive-through! No quality control check on order! Ordered two large chilies and got only one! Ordered the strawberry Fields salad and order dressing for it and never received the dressing! The slowest time during the day and they still managed to screw up my order. They gotta change things or close their doors and that's exactly what I called and told the manager. Apparently he's working in the kitchen instead of managing his team. I understand when you're short to help, but it's uncalled for when there's no quality control or double checking of the orders. I will not patronize that restaurant. I will say Michael at the window did a fantastic job and was very cordial and he was the only positive part of my experience there. Because there were only two cars ahead of me they made me pull into a slot and wait and the guy that brought out the order with part of it missing and it's too late when I gotta drive all the way home and get into my house and see that half my order is missing. I did call and talk to the manager and he said he would make it right however, why should I waste gas driving back for their mistake? No stuff about the food, the salad was good made with Russian ingredients, including the strawberries. Tony problem is is I had to supply my own dressing or drive back and waste gas to get dressing for the salad. I am on a strict diet. I also eat at Culver's very often however, my order is unique. I found myself in this area, not having eaten all day, I swung by to grab my usual order before getting home. I order four à la carte patties with cheese almost every single day from my local Culver's. No problems ever. At this location, the only way they allowed for this to be ordered is by ordering two full double cheeseburger and removing all the toppings, which ends up being almost 5 dollars more than just doing four patties and cheese. I'm pretty disappointed with Zach as he made sure that this is how his staff rung the order up although truth is all I am buying from you is for patties and cheese. Connie was absolutely wonderful by trying to stand up for what she thought was right, which is not having to overcharge me for such a simple order that can be itemized. Her colleagues seemed very dismissive of her and remained firm with their original decision to overcharge me. Overall, pretty disappointed with my experience here. If I had this experience at my local store, I would not eat at Culver's anymore. read more

We order Culvers to go about once a month. The last four times, we have been shorted items, or our order is wrong. This time, they forgot the sauce for my chicken strips, last time it was cheese on my burger when I specifically stated no cheese. (I cannot have dairy) Before that they did not give us all our fries. I am so tired of this. It shouldn't be that hard to double check the order before you give it out. Culver's was our go to for hood, fast food, especially since they offer GF buns. Lately though, service has been slow and I haven't received nice, fresh, hot french fries in awhile. This isn't the first time I've seen or experienced this but super long line, a dozen people waiting to order and only one person at the register. They had plenty of employees but had no intention of helping the one person that was drowning trying to take everyone's order. Terrible management with that being said. Then when order two simple custard things it took ten minutes and one was MELTED by the time got it and the other was a shake when I asked for a single scoop mixer. When visiting Culver's it's important to understand that they serve quality food, quickly. That's not the same as a fast food restaurant, which is visible on the sign in the order lane indicating that their food does take a little longer (and it's worth it, which I agree). This fact is also obviously by the three side-by-side waiting spots consistent at every Culver's... although many people still do not understand how this works. Expect quality food reasonably quick, but if you want junky fast food there are other places for that. If you want the most delicious pot roast sandwich anywhere, this is your place! This fry's are also great, and their custard (with a different option every day) amazing. If you purchase a kids meal, don't forget to rip off the coupon for a free scoop of ice cream which is part of the kids meal bag. I didn't realize this until my 4th visit! read more

I love the floorplan here. It's wide open, sensible seating. (The Culver's by our house is weird - like going through a maze just to get to a table...) There is also a train that looks like it should run in a circle around the dining area. My son was bummed that it wasn't running. The service is friendly and the food comes out pretty quickly. I like that they give you a number so you can sit down and get out of the way. :) I got a bacon butter burger and it was slimy with grease. I squeezed it and it left a puddle on my tray. Kind of gross. The cheese curds and the custard were excellent, though. My husband got a burger, too, but he didn't say anything about the grease. Our son's favorite place for a treat is Culver's and since we had to be in the car for about another four hours, we thought we'd butter him up a little. It worked! :) read more

We have received expired milk for a child on one visit. We received expired coleslaw by two days on another visit. Gave it another chance and they gave us expired coleslaw again. Both times talked to the manager and she just apologized. Our fish fry's were mostly bad fish. Out of 9 pieces two were good. No use complaining to the manager because obviously that goes no where. Complained to corporate and they did not respond. I loved Culver's fish fry's but apparently this Culver's is only giving out expired food. I will never go back. Oh and some poor person got my onion rings that was waiting in the drive through. They were running behind so they took the onion rings out of my fish fry box and put them in a container and gave them to the customer. I sure hope they do not have any allergies to fish. read more

Overpriced, great customer service, super slow. They messed up my order so they had to redo my burger and everyone at my table had their orders messed up as well. They can't seem to figure out how to read a ticket, but their staff were super nice. The burger also took atleast 15 min to come out and another 10 to be remade. I got a free scoop afterwards and it took 15 minutes to get it! This place has some issues but the food was good, a little pricier than other Culver's, but their customer service was exceptional. I would recommend the food but this is not the best Culver's to go to. read more

Welp the Culvers in Elkhorn finally updated the place outside. Looks nice. Lines down for parking while you wait for your order. All good. However, whoever is responsible for ordering supplies should be fired. No soda cups? How does that happen? They gave me some tiny clear cup filled with soda which was probably meant for deserts and kindly charged me the full prce for a basket. The time before when I was there they were out of Pepsi. Out of Pepsi! I live close enough to Mukwonago where I will now be going for Culver's food...and drinks because they actually have cups there. What a joke. read more

It's a Culver's. Like all others. I don't seek them out but when I'm in nowheresville on a holiday and nothing else is open or when all other options are non-existent, Culver's will do. Here's what you will always find at any Culver's: 1. Old people: They love this place. Perhaps it's their fondness for crinkle-cut fries and custard. 2. Cleanliness: Someone is always mopping or wiping. Good to see. 3. Friendliness: Almost as if they enjoy working fast-food. Again, good to see. 4. Walleye fish fry: You know you are in Wisconsin when.... 5. Acceptable custard. If you're not from Wisconsin, you love it. If you are, then you know it's just "OK". I was in Elkhorn for business last fall and wanted something quick to take back to my nearby hotel, so ordered from the drive-through lane. What a mistake! The cars ahead of me moved slowly, and after I finally did get up to the window to pay, they had me - along with several other cars - "pull ahead" to the designated waiting spots, where we sat for nearly 10 minutes. At one point, I considered leaving and going to McDonald's next door instead. (NOTE: If you're going to offer drive-through service, you need to understand that people expect their food quickly!!) When I finally did get my food, it (chicken strips) came with no apology, no dipping sauce, no silverware and no napkins - and a receipt that was printed in such light ink, there was no way I could submit it to my company for reimbursement. By the time I realized all of these mistakes, I was too ticked off and tired to take the time to go inside to complain - and the clueless teenager who delivered the food was long gone. read more

Just visited our local Culver's and went inside to order a sundae. I was the only person at the counter and there were about 8 young adults behind the counter and in that area. They were busy chatting and I had to interrupt one to get waited on. Seemed to be no management on site. What happened to customer service. This Culver's is a totally hangout place for high school kids. Whenever we are bored we just go to Culver's and end up buying food. After sporting events: soccer games, football games, and basketball games we go to Culver's to hangout with our friends. Most of the time the staff is super friendly and nice, however sometimes they are rude when it gets very busy. I know they are stressed but please don't be rude to us since we are poor and giving you our last money. read more

I was in town for a birthday and needed something for lunch as I got to town early. It was 11:00 and Culver's had just opened. I walked in and the display was still dark with some over head lamps turned off. I asked why they didn't have them on and the girl just shrugged her shoulders and walked over and flipped a switch and came back. Culver's is good food fast, NOT fast food. If you are looking for quick crap, go to McD's or BK. You wait a few extra minutes at any Culver's but it is usually worth it. The Elkhorn location is hit or miss. The food is always good. The service not so much. It is good maybe 7/10 times I stop which is why I usually head over to Delavan. Even though they have the same owner, they are somehow not the same. Don't let this dissuade you from stopping in Elkhorn, just be prepared for less than stellar service. Best case scenario, it's one of their good days and your expectations were just blown away!!! I don't agree with some other reviews about the time it takes to get food, but I do agree that they could use new ink in their printers. If you really want a receipt ask them. They can usually get you a good copy. read more

I don't normally write bad reviews, but after 2 bad experiences, this place deserves one. Now I understand that Culver's is a fast food chain, and grease is to be expected, but on many occasions I've gotten burgers here that were super greasy to the point where the bun is just falling apart. Now I work in a restaurant so I understand how food is made and what to expect. Twice now my burger has been so gross that I had to talk to a manager. The first time I called and asked to return the food and get my money back. Since they were closing, the manager, Bob, told me he'd give me a credit. A few days later I returned and told them I had a credit. The manager on duty told me there was no credit in my name, and no one named Bob worked there. Today I had another bad experience. I went through the drive thru, got home with my food (I live a block away) and again my burger was super gross and falling apart in the grease. I called back and talked to manager Bob once again. He tried to offer me a credit again, but agreed to give me my money back and remake my food if I bring the bad food in. Once I got back to the store manager Bob told me I'd have to choose either my money back or remake the food and that this was the owner's decision and the owner was there if I'd like to talk to them. When I asked to speak to the owner, manager Bob decided instead to attempt to provoke me into an argument. I repeated to him that I'd like to speak to the owner or I would walk over and talk to the owner myself, since they were just sitting at a table in the back of the restaurant. After saying that manager Bob agree to give me my money back and new food. I've never had this kind of gross food, or bad service at the Culver's in Delavan or in Lake Geneva, just in Elkhorn. I will never eat at the Elkhorn location again. read more
