My husband and I ate at Culver's for the first time yesterday & were so very pleasantly surprised. The burgers were fantastic! They were quality meat, cooked perfectly, and nice and juicy. The onion rings were good and the diet root beer was the best. We took advantage of the $2.49 pint special & took a butterfinger pecan back to the hotel. A better and more quality alternative to McDonald's and Wendy's. What stood out to me here was actually the very friendly staff. I had never been to a Culver's before and didn't realize how much they actually have. I was curious to try the cheese curds since this is a Wisconsin based burger chain. They tasted like mozzarella sticks to me, I was expecting the batter and consistency to be a bit different but I still ate them. The butter burger was good, I'd recommend getting a double patty since they are very thin. I ate at this Culver's early last week and ordered the Culver's deluxe meal and made it a double and it was phenomenal. Brought family back this evening bragging about it and my wife and I both ordered the Culver's deluxe meals (she got the single and I got the double again) as well as my son got the Crispy chicken sandwich and we were very disappointed. They advertise made fresh but not so. Our burgers were cold and on my double one piece of cheese was melted but the other was cold indicating the burger was premade. My sons chicken was very tough to where he couldn't bite through it when he got to the middle (never seen that before). Joined Yelp just to leave this review since we spent over $33 on the meal and felt people should be aware. We will not return. read more

OMG! Can we discuss the butter burgers and frozen custard??? DELICIOUS! The cheese curds are awesome...the frozen custard concretes are amazing. The burgers are five guys style in the thinness, but different in the butter buns. They are mouthwatering and I can't explain enough how much they are similar to crack. You will be addicted. You will crave them. I recommend the double cheddar butter burger with cheese curds or fries. Then save room for a concrete with 2 mix ins of your choice. Made an account just for this, visiting family and always heard good things about Culver's we placed an order on the phone and only got one of the three fries we ordered but only got charged for the one. Not a big deal may have miss understood me on the phone. Ever pass a Culver's and not stop? Am recommending it be considered a mortal sin to let such deliciousness get away! The burgers are made to order-after the patty gets a good butter searing on the grill. Went with a plain butter burger with cheese just to see if it competed in any way with my beloved Habit char burgers. They don't! Both are delicious in their own way. The iced tea was freshly made. My fiancé being from Wisconsin swore that this place is fat heaven!...she was right. To begin, the place was packed with both guests and employees. As you look at the menu your mind gets lost with the unlimited number of food options; from burgers, cheese curds, custard, toppings, floats, and everything that can possibly cause a sugar overload. Which btw is actually a choice, "brownie overload". We ordered the pub onion new burger, sub the party for veggie (vegetarian friendly), some cheese curds, root beer float, and a kids meal for the little sister. The burger had flavor and honestly could be any better for a veggie burger. The float was like no other, considering the custard as oppose to ice cream. Cheese curds exactly what they're suppose to be like. Kids meal, plenty of food! Price: the prices here are a bit more than any traditional fast food place, but definitely worth it considering the quality of both the food and the service. The kids meal is also higher than usual, but guess what, they get a complimentary ice cream....I mean custard cone. The service was over the top than that of any other fast food chain; our diet and modifications were considered very seriously and there was always someone to help. Overall if you are in close proximity to Culver's especially this one, don't hesitate to stop and let the fat kid I you stop. When I first saw Culver's, I thought, "Great, all we need in the area is another fast food, hamburger joint." At some point, I asked my friends if they had been to Culver's and was told by several people that they had and that it was better than McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's around the corner. They also mentioned frozen custard. Hearing custard piqued my interest. I have had custard on several occasions and have always been rather fond of it. The difference between frozen custard and ice cream is the addition of egg yolks and the removal of much of the air bubbles. Over three trips I managed to order and try the following menu items: Cheeseburger (plain) and Fries Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich Buffalo Chicken Strips Vanilla Custard with Hot Fudge Vanilla and Chocolate Custard The cheeseburger was comprised of very thin patties. Thankfully there were two patties. The burger was a tad on the salty side as were the fries. The fries looked and tasted like Ore-Ida from the freezer section; neither great nor bad. The Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich had the meat, sauteed onions and swiss cheese; but no au jus available. Prime Rib sandwiches should ALWAYS have au jus, but I digress. The taste of the PR sandwich was okay and the onions were cooked sufficiently. While I could order it again, my friend would never order it again. I am glutton for food items that are labeled with "Buffalo" and then made properly. After having ordering the chicken strips, I would never call them Buffalo again. I might call them "hot" or "spicy" but never Buffalo. The strips themselves didn't taste bad, but they were just like the hot and spicy Tyson strips you can get at Sam's where copious amounts of cayenne pepper is worked into the batter. I am somewhat ambivalent to this food item. The item that really colors a majority of my opinion about Culver's is the custard. I LOVE CUSTARD. It is so dense and flavorful. It doesn't need any toppings, just get chocolate, vanilla, the flavor of the day or any combination thereof. I have a very strict rule of no dairy after 2pm and I have already broken this rule to order the vanilla custard with hot fudge. The juxtaposition of hot and cold with chocolate and vanilla is just so tasty. If I hadn't tried the custard on my first trip, I probably never would have returned based solely on the lunch and dinner fare. I plan on trying one of their concrete mixers with mint and Oreo. Overall: Kind of slow cervice, good custards. Burger needs flavor. This place is bigger than your typical fast-food place. When I first came here with my family, I really had high expectations. It really looked like a great place to eat, with food selections that seem awesome, and lots of workers and a clean place too. Once my family and I ordered food, we waited... and waited.... and waited some more. I thought wow, they're really testing how slow they can serve fast-food, while still being considered fast. I'm not sure if it's just busy, or if they have no workers, but that didn't seem to be the case at all. But anyways, I thought that "Okay, since its a slow service, maybe their food is good." But their burgers were also a let down for me. I got a mushroom and Swiss burger and it didn't really have a lot of flavor. It was really underseasoned. But, their custards are good! Nice great creamy texture and quality! My whole family loved them and the variety of flavors they had was great! Maybe it's just the day where I had a bad day of service & burgers. The Butter Burger is great. Add bacon and you have a "heart attack" on s bun. That being said, it is really GOOD. The burgers are pressed seared. You order at the counter and get a number flag. Your order is promptly delivered to your table. I rarely give a 5 star rating, but for what Culvers is, it's pretty close. Ill have to go back to try some other menu items. read more

The food here was completely substandard as well as the customer service. The management team was rude and confused because each of them kept stepping on each other's toes by contradicting what the other saw as the policy of Culvers as to respect to replacing meals that were prepared incorrectly. Wow it was watching a circus in full swing as they were all talking over each other one person tell me one thing and the other manager telling the cashier whom i felt really badly for what he wanted her to do to take care of the customer. Then the other manager walked up and said no!!!! Who says no when another is tell a customer. We have eaten from the first day they opened their doors. I'll say this for sure. WE WILL NEVER RETURN!!! I don't care how many free meal coupons they want to send us. The food was so nasty and tasted like nothing that we had ever had before. The time prior to yesterday's visit they placed onions on my meals after I informed them that I'm very allergic to onions. It's terrible that customer service has clearly been dropped from the menu here at at Culvers in Port Charlotte FLORIDA God help us all if all the rest of Culvers restaurants follow suit. What a delightful find! Excellent, reasonably priced fast food (burgers, sandwiches, fried chicken) with a few healthy options like salads on the menu, as well as delicious frozen custard shakes, malts, sundaes and "concrete mixers" (think Blizzards from Dairy Queen). Definitely worth a visit for the shaved prime rib sandwich alone. The chocolate malt is to die for. Wisconsin cheese curds are okay if you like mild cheddar. Burgers are also very good. Fries are pretty standard fare, but their onion rings are a much better choice if you like that sort of thing. read more

My daughter was employed at the 385 Kings Hwy, Port Charlotte, FL 33983 location. Under the ownership of Steve Buchmeier and general manager Shane. She's a highschool student and is in JROTC. This was known prior to hiring her. She was let go for not showing up for a shift due to JROTC obligations and missing a day due to illness. Shane's reasoning was that it was her responsibility to find someone to cover her shift. She was unable to. That put her in the position to choose to expose people to her illness and with covid and her job, doesn't seem appropriate. Also to have to choose between JROTC and her job. She did not have a habit of missing work and these incidents are the only days she missed. It's very disappointing that she was put into this position by your company. Given that she's a lesbian and a minority she has many obstacles to handle and this was unduly added adversity. I spoke with Shane who had a different story but untrue. He must not have known that I have access to her phone and can verify both of their sides of the story. This is not an attempt to get her employment reinstated. This concerns management practices within your organization that should be reviewed. As it stands it appears that she was expendable now that the location has more staff. From an objective point of of view, they took the first opportunity to expel a lesbian minority. read more

Ordered a double deluxe Culver burger as a "basket" (aka meal) and it was filling but greasy. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and very tasty. Now, I know that people think that "greasy" is part of the territory when it comes to burgers but I've had plenty of good burgers that weren't greasy, the one that comes to mind is Hardy's. I believe that Culver's niche is frying their burgers in butter to gives it its crispy outer layer. It's a way of separating themselves from the rest but could it not have been done by using an air frying type of device that would give the same crispy outer layer with only half the impending heart attack, Lol?! All in all not bad but for the sake of my heart health will avoid their burgers and/or the place all together in the future. read more

My husband and I were going to the Culver's location on Kings highway every other week and at times we would get takeout. Their butter burger used to be a decent size. I understand how they smash down the burger and even though it was a thin burger it was a nice size and always delicious. The two last times we went my burger was squashed down and flattened so small that you couldn't see it in the bun! It was all bread with a small flat tiny piece of meat. I showed it to one of the servers and she brought me another. It was no different than the one I sent back. Maybe they had a new cook in the kitchen. I went back another time to get takeout ..figuring it was just an off day.. got home same thing! I have to say their fish and their salads are great but I'm very disappointed with their butter burger and we haven't gone back since. read more

For a fast food place, I have to say that I am really impressed. The service is very friendly and efficient. As far as the food goes, I tries a bacon cheeseburger meal which came with fries and a soda and they even had diet root beer (which you usually don't see). The kids chicken finger meal that my kids got was high quality, not like your typical fast food joint. To top it off, the chocolate milkshake was great! No complaints. read more

I've been here before once. I like the tomato florentine soup. But this time was totally ridiculous. I called to make sure they had the soup. Yes. I drove here and was surprised to be the 11th car in line at the drive up. The location is not set up for more than three cars! But I waited and eventually I get up there. Slow drive up service. I ordered our dinner and she said she would see if there was enough for the two family sized soups I wanted. She actually got them set up for me to make sure she had enough, which was very nice. I was able to get a family size and a large. I thanked her for doing this and made my way around to the waiting area. A young man (teen) came out with the burgers and said in an indifferent tone "we're out of the soup." I told him the girl had already set it up for me. He was clueless and rude and did not answer my question as to where it went. I asked where the chili was and again, the snot nose rudely tells me it's inside. I asked again what happened to the soup and his response was that I could get a refund on the soup. No suggestion of substitution and no explanation. He just kept shoving the bag at me. I was angry at his shit attitude and said to take it all back and refund it. He was like, "so you don't want your food?" Duh. I said I would go somewhere else. And that's what I did. Spent an hour there for nothing but an interaction with a typical snotty teenager mad that he has to work and doesn't have everything handed to him. I will not be going ever again. The soup mishap was strange, and if these dumb kids are what Culvers hires to represent their restaurants, shame on them. Their prices are too high anyway. Also, the Reuben is dripping in grease so don't get it. The fried chicken dinner was all Sysco products. And the burgers could do with less grease. Guess I'll learn to make the soup myself. We learned about Culver's in a recent edition of Consumer Reports. It is rated one of the top fast food chains in the nation! There isn't one in our town, so a weekend trip became our opportunity to try it out! We liked it a lot! The cod sandwich was crisp and juicy, a nice piece of fish!
