The Cumbria Grand is a lovely building high above the town with views over Morcombe bay. I think the "Grand" bit must be the presence of the Peacocks. Inside there is a hint of faded glory, but nothing major. my bedroom, on the ground floor was spacious, with an adequate bathroom. The breakfast was stunning. It offered a varied Continental including cheese ham oat-cakes in addition to the expected croissants etc. porridge is cooked to order, and there are the other cereals, plus fresh fruit and yoghurt. The full english breakfast offered the usual sausage, bacon, egg (any way you want them) tomatoes, plus mushrooms, beans, black pudding and potato cakes. If you don't mind waiting for them to be cooked, Kippers are also on the menu, or I found all the staff very helpful. I only stayed bed and breakfast, so I didn't try the dinner menu, although the menu sounded appetising. there is a good menu for bar meals, which are much more reasonable than the restaurant. read more
