The Lavender Box combines beautiful jewellery (the likes of Pom, Coeur de Lion, Pilgrim), with stunning gifts (I spotted the cutest wooden Noah's Ark, and the animals all had their own places), and exquisite clothing / shoes. It truly has it all. The front section of the shop is home to the gifts, filled with fancy knick-knacks such as candles, ornaments, figurines, stationery etc., as well as the jewellery. Cabinet after cabinet bursting with the most dazzling jewellery (there was 20% off some items the day we were in, but I managed to behave myself). The back section of the shop is home to a beautiful range of very unique clothes. Not really my style, but very classy and elegant, with a bit of a retro feel to them. Alongside these lie a good range of Irregular Choice shoes, which, as most of you will know, are a gorgeously kitsch, and somewhat pricey shoe label (and to die for). Oooooh shoe lust... The owner / sales assistant was very friendly, though her attention was diverted to a customer who was trying on a pair of Irregular Choice boots, and couldn't make up her mind which colour to choose. Nevertheless, she spoke to us, and was very amiable, and I commended her for dealing with the Irregular Choice boot lady (jealous...), who obviously needed her help much more than I or my sister. Anyway back to the review, after getting a leaflet through the letter box about the Crafty Fox I was intrigued, they call it a "hidden country gem" and that sounds like something I would write so I thought I had better check it out. The building itself is stunning, it used to be a bank but has been refurbished, although it still looks like a bank from the outside, inside has been decorated like a stately manor. Being that It resembles a manor it is certainly up market, selling luxury items. It is certainly charming with each item appearing to be hand crafted. This is not only a gift shop, it also has a Coffee Shop that sells a selection of delicious pastries. After browsing the shop you will feel right at home whilst eating a scone and sipping tea. The staff are warm and welcoming and you will feel like heading up the stairs into the bedroom and never leaving the Crafty Fox.

Not only does Home have the most exquisite gifts and greetings cards, but it also encompasses the luxury (yet affordable) home decor end of things, with the likes of dining tables / chairs, dressers and cushions available to purchase. It does have a bit of a country theme to it, and it definitely wouldn't look out of place in the middle of nowhere (Dromore doesn't quite count as nowhere), but it's not quite as country as you may be thinking. I was a tad confused when I entered Country Choice, as, after I was greeted a small boy who attempted to run me over, I realised that there was a door to my left, and a set of stairs leading downwards. It turns out that the gift shop was behind the door, and since I had noticed that there was a tea room at the same address, so I figured that it must be located in the basement. But I couldn't be sure. Anyways, I managed to squeeze into the little gift shop, and was thankful that I happened to be the only customer. With the obligatory Yankee Candles (no melts today for a change), stunning jewellery, retro stationery, cute gift cards and other bits and bobs, it wasn't a whole lot different to many other gift shops I had been to. They also have a large collection of really nice inexpensive costume jewellery. You can pick up anything in here from a rubber chicken to a ceramic panda. It is definitely the place to go for gifts of any sort. I was bought a poker set from here many moons ago and I still treasure it as although it wasn't really expensive it has the feel of a luxury item.

The shop itself is made up of crafts made by different creative folk. There's everything from up-styled furniture, candles, diaries and framed pictures of the beautiful Slane. Each section of the shop is divided up in to different categories and each category has a cute wee biography explaining the creators of the pieces and the history. We ended up looking around for about an hour until we finally found a locally made candle set for my mum. The lady working in the shop that day offered to gift wrap the candle at no extra cost which was a nice touch. She then explained the concept of the store - she said that each person who exhibits/sells there does one day a week working in the store and they each support their fellows designers products. We thought this was just lovely and it really made an impression on us. The shop is lovely and serine and there's absolutely no pressure to purchase anything if you just want to browse. I can't find a single fault with the Craft Collective and I highly recommend popping in if you're in Slane! An easy five stars!

Thy have a huge rang of vintage items set outside the store, this is what actually caught my attention. It's a bit like an upmarket car boot sale. There didn't really seem to be a theme to the items. There was a mix of furniture, household decorations and general bric-a-brac. I loved it - there is something really exciting about sifting through all their products. Almost like a treasure hunt. Antiques collectors would love this place. It also had a range of vintage camera equipment that was behind lock and key. Upstairs houses more modern handmade gifts, cards and part accessories.
