These cupcakes are amazing! They are super moist, flavorful and melt in your mouth. My sweet fiancé got me some of cupcake magics cupcakes for my birthday celebration and he couldn't have made a better choice! I wasn't with him when he went but he said the owner was really nice and very helpful! We had the sampler pack (which I recommend if you get overwhelmed by their selection and can't figure out what you want) plus a mocha chino and a Samoan! I seriously can't decide what is my favorite because I really enjoyed them all! I don't think you can make a bad decision here! So glad cupcake magic is part of our community! This place has never once disappointed my entire family. We come here for special occasions and as gifts for one another. The past 3 years for my birthday we have gotten cupcakes here. The mini pack of 12 is my parents favorite because it is the right amount of sweets for them and a great variety. My mo usually eats 3, dad 4, and myself and husband the rest along with eh regular size. They have such a great variety to choose from and my favorite is the red velvet with the rich moist cake and cream cheese frosting while the hubby loves the pbj one iwtht he pb flavored frosting, and jelly on top and in the middle and pb flavored cake. Then we both enjoy splitting the blackberry one with blackberry frosting and blackberry/cheesecake cake part. SOOOO GOOOD. We live in chico now and no where compares close to cupcake magic. As my husband said about one of the places here, "I paid cupcake magic price for a walmart cupcake." So now whenever my parents visit for a special occasion or for a surprise they bring us cupcakes from here some can get our fix. A pack of 6 regular sizes are gone in 2 days between the two of us. Such great shop with amazing quality cupcakes that are so original and amazing especially in the sutter and butte area where no where can compare. 12 mini pack is $15 6 big cupcakes for $18 about same price as other bakeries so not bad at all! read more

We had a craving for something sweet and decided to try this place out! I was delighted to see the variety of cupcakes this place had to offer so we ordered 4 cupcakes to go - snicker doodle, totally coconut, bavarian creme, and a caramel one. I loved the coconut cupcake, but I wasn't a big fan of the snicker doodle. I felt like the snicker doodle was a bit dry. Hubby didn't enjoy his cupcakes that much as well. I went to Cupcake magic today on a whim with my sister and a friend. We weren't sure of the hours but we arrived near closing time (4pm) on a weekend when business was dead and the cupcakes were minimal. Fine by us considering we just ate lunch and weren't looking to stuff our faces with desserts. Had it been a day where I came in with a mission on slipping into a cupcake-coma, I may have been slightly disappointed. Nevertheless we made our choices from the selection that was available. I ordered the Peanut Butter and Jelly cupcake (which looked the most interesting and appealing of the 2 plates that were on display) as well as the Black and White just for good measure. The Peanut Butter and Jelly cupcake was cute. It had a flat top with a mountain of fluffy peanut butter frosting where just beneath sits a dollop of strawberry jelly in hiding. The jelly was also drizzled atop the peanut butter frosting. The cake portion was thick, soft and moist (Just how I like it) and had a bit of a crisp (or maybe it was just tough?) top. Nibbling the cupcake sans frosting and jelly revealed a light and not overly sweet peanut butter flavor. The frosting itself wasn't too heavy, but there was just a lot of it. I guess it makes it look prettier, but I'm not one to like a huge dollop on my cupcake. Now as far as the jelly is concerned....I was a bit let down. Disappointed actually. It tasted as if it was fresh from a JAR OF SMUCKERS. I thought to myself..."Now maybe I'm just being picky?" But if you have a cupcake made from scratch, & frosting made from scratch, why ruin it by putting something that is store bought all over it? the peanut butter jelly cupcake gets 3 out of 4 stars from me because of the jelly. As for the black and white cupcake. The cake itself is very dense and heavy, but the flavor was lacking. It was a bit on the bland side on it's own without the cream cheese frosting. The frosting was a decent amount and had a nice flavor. It definitely saved the cake portion. There is, however a creamy portion of the cupcake at the top that looks a bit like cream cheese which was very tasty! At first, I would have given this cupcake probably 3.5 stars out of 4, but once I got past the top layer, it kind of went downhill from there to a mere 2.5 stars. The location is in the middle of downtown and has sufficient parking space. The decor inside is decent (this is Yuba City, we can't be too picky) and the lady working there was kind. I would come back again when they are in the prime time of their business hours and there is an abundance to choose from. read more

My brother brought us here to show off the towns yummy cupcake bakery, it was in fact super yummy!! We enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie, Samoa and my personal favorite salted caramel vanilla! Our least favorite was the chocolate Bavarian cream. Super friendly owners very much enjoyed our experience thank you. I've been in n out of this place and have gotten to-go's about 3-4 times now. My favorite is the carrot cupcake because its not dry and theres a lot of flavor into it. The other cupcakes are okay but sometimes they are dry but the icing/creme on top give it the flavor it needs. All of them makes my mouth water and they are all good. Just dont be disappointed when 2 out of 5 cupcakes that you get is dry. All in all, I give it a 4 out of 5 rating because I really love this place. Its hard to be a die hard dedicated fan when it seems they only make about 5 cupcakes of each flavor. So if you go in after 1pm you don't have a wide selection. There prices are average for what you get. They are heavy (not bad but compared to home made), rich, full of flavor and one normal size can fill you up. Staff currently is friendly even when busy but things change so I will leave it as unpredictable but presently courteous! Amazing hours but again you might be craving a chocolate cupcake and they might not have it. So go in with an open mind, open palette and get water to savior the taste of a fresh cupcake. They do have chocolate dipped random items bacon, nuts,etc., frozen yogurt, fountain drinks and gluten free items. Compfy environment, don't feel rushed, out of place, have a few seats outdoors and indoor seating, very clean (thankfully) tables and chairs and floors and glass are clean too! Usually when I go into places I've never tried. I always ask what they recommend. They did an awesome job at recommending some cupcakes. I bought 6 and sure enough, they were all delicious. I am not sure why people have been leaving negative reviews, or leaving a 3 but in the comment making it seem like they should have rated no lower than a 4. I wanted to support a locally owned business instead of a large chain store, so ordered cupcakes for my daughter's birthday party. The entire experience was wonderful. The owners were very helpful and friendly. I was given suggestions based on my needs, information about current special flavors, and even waited for my daughter to decide on flavors without rushing us out the door at closing time. She even told me that if she wanted to think about the options that she'd be there to take a phone order from very early morning on. The hour she offered to let me call with the order was several hours before they would even be open for business. I appreciate the willingness to see to that my daughter would be happy with her choices of cupcake flavors. She decided on peanut butter cup and one of the monthly specials, that is as close to a Samoa cookie as can be achieved in cupcake form. I don't usually like chocolate cake, but it was so moist and the homemade caramel in the middle is the best I've tasted. I am picky about caramel, so it is a big deal to put it at the top of my list. Each cupcake is very heavy, and no one ate a whole cupcake in a sitting. The leftover halves didn't last long, because they tasted too amazing to not dive back in for the rest. I had a taste of the peanut butter cup flavor, and it was just as impressive. I gave my other half to my husband. He commented after each bite. He told me the caramel is the best he's tasted. If you are unsure about flavors I recommend a sampler. I disagree with another reviewthat the sampler price is too expensive, and find the price to be very reasonable. It is a sample of several flavors of homemade cupcakes, the frosting is homemade, the fillings are homemade, and a lot of work is put into each one. They make sugar free options for those concerned about sugar. They do not make them with Splenda, whichI appreciate. They also list that they have gluten free cupcakes, but I haven't tried any. read more

VERY impressed by this little bakery. It is definitely a must have whenever I come town. I recently had Sprinkles cupcakes (which I was told was the gold standard of the cupcake industry) and I think a lot of the cupcakes here are much tastier than what I had tried from Sprinkles. My favorites are the peanut butter and jelly, the black berry, the snickerdoodle and the salted caramel cupcakes. Buy the minis to try out all of the flavors and find out which is your favorite! The owner is a very nice and super helpful lady and the prices compared to the quality of what you're getting are really reasonable. I have tried this place a few times. The cupcakes look beautiful, but the taste....ehhh. I purchased one today from the Peach Festival and brought it home for a treat, or so I thought. I opened it to smell the peach scent...there was none. I tasted the frosting and barely any flavor, next I cut it in half and I swear the inside smelled just like a bag of flour. It had NO taste at all. I was super disappointed. Me and my wife stopped by here after dinner. I had the Red Velvet cupcake w/ Cream Cheese frosting and the Dark Chocolate w/ Raspberry. Being in Yuba City can be jarring to some peoples sense of taste...you've got the hurst which it is recommended you stay out of on the first, but I'm starting to see fewer people needlessly riding the karts at the walmart in Linda and more mouths with intact teeth everywhere else! This is a small anecdotal observation but is positive nonetheless. Part of the cultural and gastronomic resurgence is the growth of some excellent small businesses in midtown. Cupcake Magic is a great old timey feeling pastry cafe in downtown. We stopped in after a trip to the pet store down the street. I got the Tropical Sunrise, my wife got the carrot cake, and the boys got chocolate. The cakes were all moist and tasted homemade. My frosting was bountiful but a little bland, but the carrot cake and chocolate were simply cupcake heaven. Try it...you'll like it. read more

I picked up a selection of cupcakes for my son's first birthday party. I didn't order ahead because I only needed about 10. Everyone loved the cupcakes, including the birthday boy, and they were all really pretty! My favorite is the chocolate salted caramel. The flavor is so good but the entire cupcake was REALLY rich! Some were a bit too sweet, but given the wide selection they have, I'm sure they have something for everyone's taste.
