4 Stars for Food ( ONLY ), but one particular day at the end of August, a ONE STAR for service, if that. Ever go into so many places in Montgomery County and not one employee is available as you stand in the front area like a frozen custard just waiting? These places could be robbed blind as a result. Truly amazes me. The owner in the back somewhere, no counter clerks available, no server to be found. After nearly 5 solid minutes that I patiently waited, an older man approached me who happened to be the bus help who sat me. He placed me in a little cubby hole corner behind a a Japanese like wicker screen where I was tucked away from site. Another 7 minutes goes by, so I went up front to say," umm, hello?? Do you have a working staff?? Does anyone have a clue that I've been seated with a menu this long and nobody approaching me? Yes, a slow Sat. afternoon in August, 2 other tables eating, and two other tables trashed with dirty dishes and debris all over the floor not cleaned up. I'd say it was about 3pm ish, well beyond the so called ' lunch rush ' Someone finally came out, it was a millennial server in a Temple U tee shirt who finally took my order. Oh, by the way, the sign on the front glass window read " Server Wanted " ** The late Andy Rooney of 60 Minutes claimed.. ( and I strongly agree with him ), to never walk into a restaurant where they place a sign like that. It means ' problems ' Looks like the owner has some work to do in her place currently. The food quality is one aspect that is impt. ( SERVICE ) is the other ! Below satisfactory. The restroom had a broken soap dispenser with no alternative soap provided by the owner to wash up prior to eating. The owner needs to get on the ball. Perhaps he/she is still all goo goo gaah gaah eyed following Hillary Clinton's visit there, where she is letting the place go to pot and not focusing on the important details of running a business. read more

I've eaten at Curds & Whey a couple of times & it was very good! The service is good, food is really good, it's very clean.

Delicious home style restaurant. We were looking for a new breakfast spot and are so delighted. Quick service and food is obviously from quality ingredients. Had the omelette, home fries and coffee at 6.99 - a great deal! Will definitely be back. read more

The cashier or she may have been the owner was too busy on the phone ordering supplies for the store. My 3 year old wanted a cupcake. She was very quick to tell me they didnt have any and turned her back on us to carry on with her conversation. We wanted ice cream which looked very good, but she was too occupied to notice or even ask. Pity. read more

L.S. 8/7/12 Recently the restaurant catered a 65th birthday party for my husband. The catering manager helped to select an absolutely delicious dinner raved about by all! The hors d'oeuvres, dinner and desserts recommended were perfect. Karen was wonderful to work and was always available to answer my questions. C&W catered our daughter's wedding Saturday, 10/19. Everything was wonderful!! our guests raved about the food and service...especially after the skies opened up...smiling drenched servers!!! Will never go back here. Waited 1 hour for a pickup order (after arriving when they told me to), and pretty much ignored me for the hour I was there. Hidden Treasure: on the lower level behind Chilis is this sweet small deli. Great sandwiches, wraps & salads, plus takeout entrees & sides. I had a BBQ chicken wrap today which was gererous. Very tender, perfect chicken, though "BBQ" is just sauce. I added broccoli salad to the included chips (a side salad was an option). read more

I have lived in Jenkintown for many years and only recently found Curds and Whey! I was pleasantly surprised to discover the numerous healthy options available for lunch, dinner, and take out. I was even more impressed by the vegetarian choices - eggplant parmesan, curried lentils, and a chopped broccoli salad (to name a few). I was pleased to find that the staff (chefs included) were extremely attentive and considerate of my dietary restrictions. Not to mention the impressive desserts made by an in-house pastry chef. I highly recommend the key lime tarts! All in all, a great experience and I look forward to my next visit! read more

I'm a big fan of Curds & Whey. Yes, the service can be slow, and yes, the clientele often includes your fair share of octogenarians. But the food is solid -- fresh, consistent, and delicious. I'm a big fan of the Boca Raton salad (grilled romaine and portobellos with a balsamic reduction) and often add grilled chicken (their grilled chicken is always moist, tender, and really flavorful). Love the Rydal wrap, too. My husband loves the Maryellen salad, which includes chicken, candied almonds, and goat cheese. I've never been for brunch, but given the good luck I've had with their lunch and dinner menu, I'd love to try it! read more

I just love the atmosphere here. There is such attention to detail in the decor. A beautiful mural is painted on the walls and there is outside seating also. It is run by a Mother-Daughter team and they make everyone feel like family. All the staff provide exceptional service and are very generous. Now for the food...homemade and delicious. I have been coming here for years and it all began with their delicious citrus salad and maple walnut dressing, which I have never seen anywhere else. There is such a great offering and variety of delicious food and baked goods. As soon as one walks in through the door, there is a table with all kinds of free samplings serving to greet and welcome. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! read more

Curds and Whey is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. I've been going here for lunch and now dinner for many years following Curds to their different locations - now behind Barnes and Noble and Chili's on Old York Rd and the Fairway but still in Jenkintown which I think they've been in for 30 some years. Places don't stay around this long if they aren't good. I find this place to be very consistant. The food is of good quality and compared to comparable places - there aren't too many - they really are reasonable and very tasty. Soups, salads and sandwiches are always good whether served hot or cold and there is always something new on the menu. They will even accommodate my own concoctions. Since the take out/catering section always has various fish, chicken and meat options, the cafe always offers different entrees everyday. The desserts are wonderful especially since they recently hired their own pastry chef. White chocoloate cheesecake, fruit tarts, and my most recently ordered french cheesecake tort all rate among the best of any "chic" restaurant in the city. Curds has catered many parties for me in my home and 2x at the restaurant where we had about 35 and 50 people. The cafe and store does get busy but I continue to go since the wait, if any, is consistantly worth it. Try it for yourself! read more

Aahh, Curds and Whey...a wonderful little gourmet shop in Jenkintown. It's been one week since my last visit and I am starting to crave my favorite item on the menu (so far). It's a blue cheese and bacon burger. Even though I am at the age where my doctors are telling me to eat carrot sticks and peanut butter or celery (ugh), I actually try to treat myself to only one burger a week. It's not easy...they are GOOD!!! They also have a variety of gourmet specialties like broccoli salad, quiche, red and yellow beets, parmesan asparagus, variety of salmon dishes, etc. The menu changes often but maintains consistent staples too... I can't tell you how many wonderful things they have here so go and see for yourself! Great people too!! read more

I frequent Curds often because I know I will have consistently tasty food. Everyone is usually friendly and typically refers to customers by first name. No wonder they have been in business for 30 plus years. I have also used the catering services and have heard rave reviews from my guests whether for small dinner parties or gatherings of 20 to 30. I even went to a wedding with almost 200 people they catered and the food was just as hot, creative and tasty as it has been for my small dinner parties. I went there and ordered a turkey special on a baguette for takeout. When I got home it turned out they gave me corned beef on rye bread. I don't eat beef. Not sure what else there is to say, they won't be seeing my business again. Can I give zero stars? Rule number 1- get the takeout order right. read more
