Maria explained why removing uni from the ocean is actually advantageous for the ecosystem, knew the rules of fishing (what we could & could not remove), and explained the entire process beautifully. Eating the uni right out of the ocean was delicious, and Maria had a campfire going to grill the uni up as well!! The fishing license was definitely needed, as rangers were there. You can collect up to 35 uni, so a larger mesh or other bag for collection is needed. A set of metal tongs and/or other utensil is recommended. Leather gloves, a knife and set of shears to cut into the uni after harvesting is helpful. And definitely a change of clothes/shoes! The uni you don't eat can be taken home & Maria is great at explaining that process as well.

We visited 3 winery's, 2 that we wanted to go to, the other she recommended. I would recommend going with her recommendations since it was my favorite winery's of the day. She picked us up on time (8am, she was there early) from our hotel and we headed out the the Muir Woods. The woods are so magical with the amazing redwood trees that were HUGE. After the woods we headed to our first winery. Stagsly vineyards is a bigger winery with some great Cabernets. Their tasting room was beautiful and overlooked the massive vineyards. Next we went for lunch at Gotts. This place had some seriously delicious burgers and tacos. Everyone in my family got burgers and I got shrimp tacos that were very fresh and tasty. Their special Mexican street corn was also one of our favorites. After we went to Ambers winery recommendation that was soldero. This was a smaller boutique type vineyard. We started our tasting with a tour of the property and their new rose that will be launching in July. The rose was our favorite. We were also able to go down on the vineyard and see the plants which I thought was very cool. The staff was friendly and sat chatting with us down in their tasting room. Finally we stopped by Cuvason which had such a classy atmosphere. Beautiful indoor and outdoor tasting. They started us off with a complimentary rose champagne. After we tasted a savigon Blanc, another rose, and 2 Cabernets. Again would recommend the rose, however I still think the new one from our second stop was best. All in all we had an amazing time with amber she was a fantastic tour guide and helped us to not only learn about wine country and the Muir Woods but also new wines.

I took my daughters, 12yrs and 10months old, for spring break. It was a rainy day but the rain…read moremagically disappeared during our 2 hour tour. We learned many things from Alan was fantastic in helping us understand an area we see all the time but never explore! I loved going through the herbal medicine store, eating dim sum to go, FRESH fortune cookies, and the list goes on. The most interesting was the history, of course... Alan did an excellent job with engagement and moved us through the history of SF Chinatown from beginning to present day. As a black woman with a family, it's always interesting to see the parallels of Black and Asian American history. I was worried my daughter would be disengaged, but she was able to stay present and seemed to enjoy herself. The baby, well, she is a teething baby but there was enough movement to keep her sane... lol At the end of the tour we decided to eat. Naturally, after walking 3 hours. We invited Alan to join us for lunch and ate at Imperial Palace Restaurant. The food was good. I would go back. I would also do the tour again with my partner to explore more and do more ! I knocked off a star because I believe they should bring back including lunch, at the end. Also, I like Alan howerver he spits while he talks. And he talks alot naturally... and you have to stand close to hear bc it's loud around us. Even at lunch, he was spitting on my food. So.. The menu is defined, so all you have to do is buy a ticket and show up. They have multiple themed crawls - I was lucky enough to be in the Bay when they were hosting their "Grubbing like an SF Giant" Crawl, which included a tour of AT&T Park! The 3 restaurants we sampled were Ironside, Pedros Cantina and The Public House. 1st stop was Ironside- runny eggs on my thin crust pizza, slighty overpowering garnishes on the pizza choices we had 2nd stop was Pedro's Cantina - great pregame fill food spot or for any drinking occasion, let the beers flow, there tacos are heavy, tamales also heavy both meaning alot of taste and large in portion, 3rd stop was Public House - sliders were on point, reuben sammaches were decent, again let the brews flow, huge bar several drinks!!! Final stop tour of AT&T park, lil sample of where the players play, you get a visit of the training facility, visitor teams lockers, huge bathrooms, batting cages, visitor bullpen, press box, vip boxes, championship box, and several other history points, sounds, and glares hahaha definitely something you should try when you are in the city

Let's be honest - I am not a farm person. I appreciate a good meal but am not one who normally spends much time worrying about where my food comes from. So I expected to be bored on this trip, frankly. Boy was I wrong. This trip blew my expectations away. It was a great mix of different farms and different ways of doing things, and I felt like a kid again on a super-fun field trip where you got to explore and touch and watch the makings of where your food comes from. The farmers were genuine, down-to-earth people and were serious farm-fresh foodies. We literally had meals prepared for us by the farmers right in front of us and they were SO DELICIOUS. I got to pick my own tomatoes right off the vine. I even learned about fruits and vegetables I'd never even heard of. Oh, did I mention I got to try them out, too? The environment was relaxed. The guides were very knowledgeable and interesting. And the design of the event was really mellow but well planned. Did I mention the views? These properties are just amazing. What awesome country to get to go hang out in. Between all the exploring, wine, food and learning, the day went by fast and I got to take in a ton of beautiful sites. This tour was a find. After having my parents visit the bay area regularly and running out of creative things to do with them, I know where I am taking them next. What a great and unique thing to do on your weekend.

My wife and I went on a tour that took us up to Russian River without knowing what to expect…read more We've always been interested in gardening and farming, but weren't aware of organic farms open to the public where one could organize a tour and really explore the nuts and bolts. Bay Area Green Tours really came through in this regard, and they arranged everything beautifully. The most memorable stop was a farm run by a restauranteur and chef, and they went all out on the tour. We picked our own fruits and vegetables and the chef prepared them in a gorgeous outdoor setting. Meeting the family that owned and operated the farm was eye opening and educational. For example, the farmer/chef explained that his warm-loving citrus trees do much better at higher altitude up his hill rather than at the base due to the downhill sliding effect of cold air. Good eats, great people, and very educational. Not a bad way to spend a weekend or two!
