Amazing food. Getting really hot curry right is a bit of an art form. I ordered the lamb vindaloo…read more(naan and rice on the side). Vindaloo is supposed to be hot, usually one of the spiciest curries on the menu. Some restaurants shy away from providing the proper vindaloo experience as some Australian palates are not accustomed to the primary burn. Too often the heat is either rolled in on training wheels (in which case the subtle background of other spices may be nonexistent or pasty-bland) or brought in at a level providing a chemical burn, rendering cardamom and other essential elements a moot point. This vindaloo was neither. The heat was a celebration, lively and robust enough to warm the soul and clear the sinuses while allowing the cardamom, vinegar, and other elements to thrive and dance upon the senses. I was hoping so much for the sign of an epic vindaloo, the secondary burn. The second burn isn't so much tasted as experienced throughout the body - and no, we're not talking about negative GI effects at all. The secondary burn is an experience of warmth across the skin as capillaries dilate just slightly. With the best vindaloo, the warmth seeps into your bones. If you have arthritis, you may even have a symptomatic reprieve lasting from a few hours to a couple days. Within a few minutes, I knew this was an epic vindaloo. I could actually feel the ache in my knees and back from past years of military service subside. The best food is therapeutic as well as delicious. This vindaloo was truly amazing and a textbook example of what the experience is supposed to be. I didn't even discuss the tikka chicken.... Just as amazing, but I need to leave you, the reader, with something more to imagine - just with the understanding that it's better than you imagined. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. I think biryani next time.

Terrible customer service-Menulog order number: 277405411…read moreWould never order or go Sargun again! Was Sunday (Oct 29th) evening. Ordered 61$ worth of food via Menulog. Went to Sagun around 6:30Pm to collect my food with my wife and 4 yr old son. The restaurant was almost empty except for an elderly couple who were having a sit down dinner . There was a gentleman wearing a turban and a lady at the reception counter. I approached the counter . My wife and son stood a few feet away .The lady at the counter gave me a brief smile and then walked past me. I turned around to observe an Aussie looking , young couple who had just come up the stairs behind me. I was wondering why the lady didn't talk to me but had gone over to the couple who came after me . At this point I politely interrupted her and said I'm here to collect my menulog order which I have paid for, she then told me to wait a minute and while me and my wife looked in disbelief continued to ask the couple( who came after me )as to hopw she can help them. The couple had no reservation nor had they ordered any food and were just asking what the options were to take away or to sit down. After a minute or 2 they agreed to sit down and have dinner. Thereafter the lady came over and ask me what my order name was, and after handing me my food even asked what the order number was to double check) I almost asked her if she wanted my driving license to double check if I'm who I claim to be. In any restaurant or even a grocery shop you expected to be served according to first come basis. But it seems the lady at the reception at Sargun had still got the Colonial mentality and will bend over double and serve the Caucasian looking customers first even if they arrive well after the south asian looking customers that arrive there. I'm usually wary of Indian restaurants in small towns.. claiming to be authentic. But this place…read morehits it out of the ballpark. The food is awesome with service to match. We showed up around 8:15 and took a while to order. And order we did: vegetarian entree platter, meat entree platter, salted lassi for starters. For mains: vegetable bengan (with eggplant, potato, tons of great onion, etc), daal, fish curry, chicken korma, paneer, naan, roti, stuffed pirata. A huge amount of food. The portions are reasonable and so are the prices - surprising for a resort town. The most expensive thing is $20-$25, while the average curries hover around $13-$15. The food was a little slow to come out, but the restaurant was almost empty and only one manager was on duty serving the whole place, and closing down... since we were there almost an hour after close. But they gave us excellent service - water on the table that was replenished, checking in regularly. Even letting us order paneer late in the dinner when other restaurants might have closed their kitchen. And, they gave us chai too. All that for $169, including tax and everything. You can believe we have the manager, Soni (I think) a good tip. Lest you think I exaggerate too much (I am white after all), I was there with my Indian mother-, father-, brother-, sister-in-law, and husband. They agreed it was really a solid meal. So, I give this place a 5 for service, 6 for exceeding expectations, and 4.5 for awesome food. The ingredients all seemed quality - good meats, no stringy fatty gross stuff - and the dishes were well spiced and delivered on all the classics. Definitely try this spot out!

Bamboozled by the negative reviews…read more I stayed away from Azooba due to the harsh criticism by reviewers. But, I gave it a shot anyway. The self-proclaimed wonderland builds its reputation up a great deal, and for good reason. I ordered takeaway one night when there was a function on, inside was lively, music playing and everyone smiling. The décor and ambient lighting did reflect a kind of magical wonderland that has been long forgotten, especially in a restaurant atmosphere. They lived up to their namesake. We ordered the palak paneer (homemade cottage cheese cooked in spinach puree topped with cream and ginger), garlic naan, lamb vendaloo (pieces of lamb and potatoes cooped in spices with hot chilli sauce, finished with fresh coriander), chicken korma (chicken cooked with light creamy sauce finished with coconut milk and cashew paste) and chicken biryani (chicken cooked with basmati rice and flavored with selected herbs). The food was amazing, delicious, authentic flavours that were beautifully put together. Both lamb and chicken was cooked perfectly, tender and not dry or tough. The naan soft and infused with garlic. The homemade cottage cheese in the palak paneer was to die for. The service was prompt and friendly. Although, I have only had Azooba once, they delivered perfect Indian food that's among the best I have ever tasted. I can't wait to dine in and have a function here.

I did this all online so I never talked to a live person except to confirm they got my order. The menu had endless choices to scan through and we settled on safe food, chicken tikka masala and butter chicken. The food was roughly $30 Australian. A really good deal. When it came and we unwrapped it, it had no rice. What Indian place does not include rice with the main dish? And if you receive an order from someone for delivery and rice is separately priced, do you not call the people and say "hey, you need rice with this". So, we ate soupy chicken dishes with no rice. Huge disappointment. I think it is a big fail on the restaurant's part. Flavor was good, but at this late hour it is just too late to even try to correct it. Shaking my head at this situation.

Dosa's were definitely abundant on their menu and it was really hard to choose which to order. Our safe bets were the chefs special dosa - combination of sorts stuffed into a dosa and a chicken egg dosa. Both were flavoursome and we agreed the paneer was creamy and delicious. Although this will be a once in a blue moon craving, it was a delightful one at that. Cheap, flavoursome and filling. Neither of us had even finished half our meals. Service was good and meals came out quite quickly. Under $30 for 2 types of dosas and a soft drink each. It's a welcome change to try unfamiliar indian cuisine, one of which I will recommend to others.

I would not go to this place ever again as it happened on three different occasions I gave them enough chances and they do not get it. if you don't respect customer and take it as purely business you might sail for bit but drawn soon.
