"Pay your f**king money and get the f**k out" - The owner 1st time ever leaving a review in my life. The owner cussed me out inside his store after accusing me of doing something I didn't do. Details below: Went in because my car was towed because I left a parking pass in my center storage area by my cup holders (partially visible) and forgot to hang it from my rear view mirror. When I showed up to pick my car up, I did a full walk around inspection to make sure my car wasn't damaged, then looked in both front windows to see if my parking pass was partially visible, which it was. When I entered the store I asked about the parking pass being partially visible and I was cut off by the owner and was accused of going in my car and moving the pass, which I didn't do. I said, you are lying, I just walked around my vehicle to make sure it wasn't damaged and looked in my windows to see if my parking pass was partially visible (which it was). He then cut me off and yelled "I'm the owner, I'm not a f**king liar, pay your f**king money and get the f**k out". Was shocked by the terrible service and major disrespect from the owner. I never raised my voice or said anything disrespectful to him or his employees originally or in response. I wish I would have recorded the interaction. Figured I should post my experience with the owner of curtis auto repair and towing so others can make educated decisions when looking for car services in the Athens area. read more

As everyone mentioned, I wish I could give it one star. All Curtis sees you as is a massive paycheck and not a human being. He acted very arrogant and unsympathetic when I went to retrieve my truck, which he charged $138 to tow roughly one mile. This is clearly a very predatory business that acts nothing short of unethically. He claims he doesn't have to follow local municipality laws, and follows PUCU. This was actually true from 2003-2014. However, in the re-written legislation in 2015 and 2017 to Revised Code 4921.25, no law prohibits local municipal regulation, and nothing about the current law prohibits enforcement of municipal authority to license towing operators and set towing fees. Therefor, under Athens city law, he does not have the right to charge more than $50 (Section 7.06.17 of Athens current Municipality). This happened to me last night, and I will be following up by contacting the Better Business Bureau, the managing attorney of OU Student Legal Services, the law director of the city of Athens. Overall, they do not care about the people they affect and shine a negative light on the community read more

My father (63) blew a tire on a back road near 681. The vehicle was sitting about 30 yards from the end of the road where it could be seen from the highway. Called and asked for a tow truck, was told they were sending a truck out right away. An hour went by they called and said they were in route, it would be 15 mins. An hour later they still didn't show up, so I called, they tell me the driver couldn't find us so they returned to the garage. They never even called to try to get our location or clarification they just RTBd it. Will never again ask this company for anything. I called an out of town service and told them where it was, they got there in 30 mins. Do yourself a favor call someone else to come get you they don't deserve your time or money. I rarely give reviews when they are bad but this is the 3rd occasion Curtis Towing has failed at their job. read more

This company is ridiculous and heartless. In the past 6 days, I know two people who have been towed that were helping people move in. They realized almost immediately what happened and had to pay 180.83, in CASH! This is an outrageous price because it is a flat rate, you could be inside somewhere for 10 minutes and come back outside with no car and have to pay that. These people are crooks profiting off of poor college people. Also as of this week when they are not busy, they are HUNTING parking lots looking for people to tow! I am a senior at OU this year and have never heard of anyone being towed until this year. With COVID and the odd school hours, they are being unreasonable. Literally disgusting. This is a scam and these guys take your car at night and then make you pay $40 for an after hour fee. I am from New Jersey, had no CASH, and had no where to go. Curtis Towing uses predatory towing practices. Anyone who uses them for their towing needs also by extension looks unethical and predatory. My daughter was a properly registered guest at my son's apartment. In the time it took her to walk to his apartment for the parking pass and back, they had towed her truck. No one disappears with a truck in 10 minutes, unless they were waiting for her to leave her truck. Don't use them. They make everyone associated with them look bad. read more

THEY TOWED MY CAR OUT OF MY OWN PARKING LOT. Literally right behind my house, during Halloween weekend. Then they had the audacity to be rude to me over the phone when I called frantically about it thinking someone had stollen my car. When I get to the place to pick it up, I was appalled. It's basically a junkyard, they have cars packed in there so close together that I'm sure I will find scratches and dents in it tomorrow morning. This business is CORRUPT. I parked my car at The Summit to visit a friend for dinner. After unloading my car of groceries, I went out to put the guest parking pass in my car, just to find them driving away with it. I was only parked there for 7 minutes total. My gf and I ran to chase them down, but they wouldn't stop until I managed to cut them off. When I tried telling them I had a parking pass, they rudely said they couldn't do anything because it was "already on record." Their "record" consisted of a blank paper that wasn't filled out with any information. After repeatedly telling them we have a pass, the older man said with a smirk "give me $138 and you can have your car back." Needless to say, I had to give them the money in EXACT change, since their company accepts only cash but doesn't have any change to give back to their prey. Luckily my friend was able to help with the exact change, because I sure as hell wasn't giving Curtis the Crook any additional money. While getting the cash ready, he hid away so he could forge the record and made it look like it was already complete prior to us stopping them. Avoid this company at all costs. read more

My daughter had her car towed by Curtis towing. The lot closed at eleven and she was literally eight minutes late. The driver was just backing up when she got there and told her if she gave him $45 cash he wouldn't tow her car. Okay, no complaint here. It was her fault for being late and the guy was doing his job. However, she didn't have the money and my wife was only 15 minutes away with the cash. Still he wouldn't wait or tow someone else's vehicle. Curtis changed me $90 for a three mile tow. I had a van towed from Columbus for the same cost. When I complained about it the guy was smug and rude. Talk about a legalize racket. And they wonder why tow truck companies have such a bad reputation around Athens. read more

Not told until I got there that I could pay with CASH only, was told it would be $190.00 But when I called the cops he changed it to $128.00. (CASH) Did not ask for i.d or any proof of ownership. Seemed mentally slow while enjoying the scam he runs. There should be a sign in the parking lot stating where the car will be towed and that it is cash only. This place is an absolute dump. I am from out of town and was here visiting a friend. I was unloading my things into her place and was inside for less than 15 minutes came out and my car was gone. When I finally found there sign posted on the side of a dumpster it read "vehicles can be recovered day or night upon proof of ownership with max. Payments up to $90, plus $12 storage per 24hr period." I get there within 10min of my car being towed and they wanted to charge me $128 to get my car because he had to come in after hours (10:30p) to give me my car. The sign clearly states 24hr pick up. I argued back and forth and ended up paying, cash only might I add, the $128. Also they never inspected my ID before releasing the vehicle to me. This place is dishonest and runs on a double standard. I will be pressing charges!!! read more
