I believe this is the best location compare to all locations that I have seen in Edmonton and Calgary. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Even if it's busy, it has a lot of things and you don't need to wait for anything. The equipments are new and awesome and they have some machines that I haven't seen them in other locations. The change room and bathrooms were very clean. This location is my number one location!

Love the gray, chandeliers, clean bright white lines in the bathroom, large vanity, 2 private showers... I good just go on and on! Megan does a great job teaching classes and comes around to make sure everyone is engaging properly. This workout is all about small movements and it can take some practice to disengage your larger muscle groups. I like how you are in complete control of how intense you want your workout to be. This location has 2 studios just like the southside Barre Studio. Only difference is it may be a little trickier to get to transit wise (in an industrial area) and does not have a Glow Juicery inside. They do have a variety of Glow juices, water, and snacks on hand, though! Great job ladies! P.S. When Megan tells you to start with 2 or 3 lbs. Dumbbells, listen to her! It's in a great new building surrounded by like-minded businesses with lots of parking around, both in the lot next door and the street. Inside, touches like beautiful chandeliers over the counter along with contemporary light fixtures in the studio, make for a space you want to spend more time in! The whole space is bright and cheerful! And it had the best locker room I've ever seen with soooo many lockers! I really appreciate actual lockers to store your stuff while you're in class. The actual class is a lot of fun. The best tunes ever with some really good base make for a rocking environment. It almost makes you forget about how hard you're working because you're just having a lot of fun! I found it really easy to follow along with the routine which included a lot of ballet moves, ab work, cardio and more... Which is saying a lot as I'm not really athletic or coordinated! I look forward to coming back to work on toning and strengthing... everything! You work way more than just your legs and glutes - your shoulders and abs will feeeeel it!

The atmosphere was beautiful, bright, and clean! Glow Juicery is just inside to the left for a pre or post workout treat! I love that everything is made right in front of you and totally customizable! I love ANYTHING with ginger and kale - Yummy! Erin was the instructor for my class - super friendly and knowledgeable. She gave alternatives for lower impact options when it came to the cardio section. I was really surprised at the intensity of the class given the small movement/range of motion. I am confident the class could kick the fittest butt around as well as being modifiable for someone just starting to work out. Class was broken up into warm up, upper body with weights, lower body with a squishy ball, cardio, and ab work on eco friendly mats. They provide everything you need, including lockers with a key! They sell special footy socks that help you grip the floor if you like. I noticed on the wall that they were in the midst of a 30 day challenge, too! There were three large washrooms and beautiful vanity sink area complete with personal hygiene items if you needed to freshen up. If you are looking for a women only fitness class, definitely give Barre Body Studio a try!

That and I have yet to experience the loud grunting and shouting and the throwing down of the weights that I've experienced at other gyms...come one people...really. No one is impressed I've been to a few different gyms and there's a lot I didn't like about them. I like spa lady (even more so now that they've extended their hours) because the staff at this location are great, they greet you with a smile, make conversation (they even find ways to compliment you) ayes that sounds girly but come on...it makes you feel good don't lie. I like them the most because when I've been stuck on a work out or don't know how to use a machine all I've had to do was ask and doesn't matter who's around or what they're doing they have no problem helping. The change rooms and lockers are large and always clean. They have a sauna and provide hair dryers and straighteners, what more could you ask for....funny you should ask...there's no WiFi, this location is missing some of the equipment that the other location has (granted I get that it's a small gym but do you really need 3 leg extension machines and not one calf raise machine...come on). I personally would like to see a water bottle service of some kind (even if its a vending machine full of water bottles, it sucks when you leave your's at home and have to keep running to the fountain, having a fall back would be nice). Other than that, if you like having a clean machine I do recommend wiping down your machine before you use it...there are a lot of people that don't wipe down their machines when they are done :/

You are locked in completely like a mortgage and similar to a bank, you are not pardoned if a payment is late and will be charged fees on top of it. Not like a BUSINESS versus a single adult needs that or anything. It took me having to cancel my credit card so they won't be able to continue to charge me. I truly wish I had never signed up, it has been nothing but grief and anguish for two solid years where the only focus has been MONEY. Quite honestly, the most horrific and HEARTLESS company and customer service I've ever had to deal with in my life. I strongly advise that this company re-evaluate your costs, and inflexible policies in the STRUGGLING times we are living in. I'll remind you that your patrons are human beings, not atm machines.

I've been looking to switch up my work outs and decided to try out 30 minute hit! I signed up for a…read morefree trial workout online and got to try it this week. Getting the trial was seamless and so easy. When I arrived, the staff were super friendly and the paperwork was quick and easy. I was surprised to see I was the only one there to work out at 10 am. Part of me loves that- I often prefer to work out without distractions. The other part of me thought "aw, that's no fun!" A trainer walked me through each station and gave me fantastic tips and encouragement through the entire 30 mins. The workout itself is high intensity intervals (hence HIT) and focuses on kickboxing with an undertone of self defense training. I can get behind that. I loved that the workout was so quick, and totally ruined my body (and I'm used to working out regularly.) I can see how this would be a wicked option for people who are busy, but want to get a wicked workout/relieve some serious stress. The things I would change about this place would be their hours, and having a greater variety of stations. Their hours of operation are a little funky (they're closed in the afternoon) and I worry that I might get bored with the same stations! Too bad they don't have punch cards. Still thinking on whether I'm going to commit to a membership myself, but I definitely recommend checking it out! That trainer will kick your butt! I wish I could remember her name :(

XD I think this place counts as the second spin studio I've visited, and I like that they still have the flashing disco light show, timed songs playlist, and super energetic spin instructor to pump it up! It's pleasant to know that a good portion of the people there are regulars and both regular riders and the staff are willing to offer their assistance to setup your bike appropriately for a great ride. The little hand towels they provide on the bikes at the start of every class also helps reduce my laundry load at the end of the week haha :D Sadly the couple instructors I had the privilege of riding with are moving on from the studio or on vacation for an extended period, but I look forward to riding with different instructors and figuring out whose pace and energy I jive with :) Also! I really appreciated the opportunity to be able to participate in the February limited-time offer for earning some extra rides! I brought my friend and we both earned some free rides, and although sore from her first time in a while, really enjoyed the space and energy brought by the other riders and staff! All bikes were equipped with shoe cages and optional clips for cycle shoes. Each bike had space to hold your water bottle, phone, and a meter tracking both distance and RPM. It was so great to get back on a spin bike and I couldn't have dreamed up a more inviting atmosphere or instructor! If you're looking for a way to take your workout up a notch, give Tru Ride a try!

I've recently returned to the gym scene after being absent for the past 5 years having two kiddos…read more In the past two weeks, I've visited 4 gyms and 3 yoga studios. I must say that this gym location, GoodLife Fitness, in St. Albert is my favourite of the gyms I visited and hence my new membership here. What I like: It's brand spanking new. All the equipment, the building, the sauna, and exercise rooms - everything is clean and sparkling. As you enter on the main floor there is loads of cardio equipment with a huge television on the main wall made up of many smaller screens as well as individual screens on the cardio equipment. The main floor also has a weight circuit and a personal training area. Also on the main floor is child minding and the locker rooms. There are saunas in the ample locker rooms and plenty of space for getting changed, locking up your valuables, and getting showered/dressed after a workout if you so choose. Just before you take the stairs to go up, there are several reclining massage chairs. Upstairs is where the free weights live as well as another complete set of circuit equipment. There is also another washroom upstairs. Now here's what made me choose this gym, the exercise rooms are great! The group fitness room is wider than it is long but ample for for 60 participants and there is a dedicated cycle room with state of the art spin bikes (ready for clip shoes) with LOTS of fans which is a must for me in a spin room. There must be more than 40 bikes - lots! What I like about the group fitness schedule is that they have classes ranging from 6am to 8pm with many back to back in case you want to combo top a Jillian Micheal's 30 minute shred class with a Les Mills Body Flow (yoga, tai chi, pilates combo) class. Speaking of Les Mills group fitness classes, that means they get new releases with new choreography and music regularly for Body Pump, Body Step, Body Flow, Body Attack, etc. They also currently offer CXWork and Zumba. All classes are included with your membership fee! There are yoga mats and everything you need all ready for you in the group fitness room if you don't bring your own. The staff have been welcoming on every visit and the parking lot has ample lighting for anyone nervous about late nights or early mornings because this gym is open 24 hours a day! The cons - This is the largest of gyms and there aren't any ladies only areas but that won't deter me any but I know this could be a deal breaker for some. I'm definitely excited and motivated to put my health first and GoodLife is just the place to do it!
