We have been coming to Custard's for at least twenty years. It's a nice family place to get ice cream. Families love coming there to get ice cream and even come many times after kids sporting events. The people who work there are always very nice and effective when getting ice cream. We've had all kinds of flavors over the years. My husband loves the custard especially a swirl. I personally love the head ice cream and milkshakes. The peanut butter ice cream is my favorite. I also like holiday and other fun flavors especially those with cake or frosting. We have also enjoyed the ice cream sandwiches. Next time you and your family want ice cream, check them out. They're off the Mt Nebo exit. read more

I stopped by here a couple of Wednesdays ago with my wife and twins for some ice cream. While I have driven by Custards First Stand regularly, I can't actually remember the last time I had been there. So what got me to go this time? Well I noticed that their soft serve flavors were key lime and coconut and I thought that would be an awesome soft serve twist. This shop is located right on Camp Horne Road and has its own parking lot and then a covered outdoor seating area as well. On the night that we were there the workers were super nice. For my ice cream on this day I went with exactly what I had planned, the key lime and coconut twist while my wife went with a hot fudge sundae, my son Superman ice cream with sprinkles and my daughter vanilla with sprinkles. My soft serve was good and I appreciated both flavors a lot. Out of the two, it was the coconut that I enjoyed more. My wife also really enjoyed her sundae and my kids were big fans of both the ice cream and sprinkles. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I like that they have non traditional soft serve flavors and thought that the ice cream good and that it also didn't break the bank. read more

The best little custard stand around! It's great, even on a chilly day. They have several tables that are covered, just off the parking lot. You order up at the counter and the menu of options is large. I've gotten the dirt sundae multiple times and I'm never disappointed. The custard is always great and they don't skimp on the toppings. This place has a ton to choose from, it took me a while to decide. I should have gone with my first choice, an oreo glacier but instead, I got an oreo milkshake. Maybe it was the person that made it but I wouldn't order one again. It was not thick at all, it was like milk with oreos in it. Taste was good but the consistency was not what I expected. A favorite stop in the summer for a sweet treat! Custard's weekly soft serve flavor always keeps me curious and eager to come back. This week was blackberry and pistachio, which you can either get individually or swirled together. I went for the blackberry dipped in chocolate. The flavor was a bit sweet for me, but I'm glad I tried it. There traditional twist done is always a go to for me, and they have plenty of other ice cream offerings hard ice cream, sundaes, their version of the "blizzard". Service can be a bit slow depending on how many people are there, but on a nice night it's fun to be outside and talking to friends while waiting anyway! We stopped here for the first time yesterday. We got to Custard's around 5:30 and I was happy to see that it wasn't super crowded. They have ample parking. They also have tables and chairs so you can sit outside and eat your ice cream. When we walked up we were greeted right away. The girl taking our order was very sweet and answered any questions we had. I decided on a small twist cone with rainbow sprinkles. My husband ordered a lime misty. My MIL ordered a small butter pecan cone. My husband also got an ice cream sandwich to go. The ice cream sandwiches are made by Good L'oven so I know they are all probably so good! Everything we tried was really good. Definitely hit the ice cream spot. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because... there is no custard... at a place called Custard's. This is a locally owned family business and definitely did not disappoint! They had a good variety of frozen goods on their menu and great prices. The portions are very generous compared to large chain ice cream stands, and you definitely get more bang for your buck here. Their soft serve was to die for, and they switch up different featured flavors every week. This week was peanut butter and banana-- and let me tell you, our dogs LOVED the peanut butter soft serve. Custard's got it right. The first time I went there I ordered the Strawberry Cheescake Ice Cream, and it was incredibly good. I went back again for the Strawberry Shortcake, and it was very delicious as well. I recently tried the Fruity Pebble Glacier, and it was amazing! I thought that it would be a ice cream cone, but I was still thoroughly pleased with the large portion in a cup and great flavor! They also serve food! I ordered a Steak Hoagie with fried onions, mushrooms, green peppers, and mayo...hold the cheese! That is my usual spiel when I go to a place and order a steak hoagie. And it was so delicious and plenty of meat. The service was good. And I cannot wait to return. Everyone needs to check this place out! Ah, Custard's. This was a staple in my childhood. I remember going here for lunch on the last day of school every year with my friends. In the summer, we'd stop for ice cream after a long day of swimming at Avonworth pool. I had forgotten about Custard's until I had to drive past every day on my way to work. It's still delicious, and the prices are amazing! It's so inexpensive. I don't think there is any bad ice cream here. Some personal favorites include the hot fudge sundae and the ice cream of the week flavors. The orange cream was one of my favorites for forever, and they used to do an amazing coffee ice cream too. A small is less than $2. What more could you want in life? The actual food is really good as well. I LOVE their footlong hot dogs with saurekraut or chili! The also have amazing Italian subs! I'm actually not sure if I like the food or the ice cream better. It's standard American fare, but it's good stuff. Again, the prices are amazing! I've been to Custard's probably hundreds of time, but last night was the first time I've returned as an adult. This place was our go-to ice cream celebration spot after softball games (conveniently located between the softball field and my parents' house). Well, aside from the fact that I wasn't a 9-year-old having ice cream bought for me by my third-base-coach dad, Custard's is just as I remember it. I think they even have the same cute waffle cone photos in the windows! I got a medium strawberry sundae for just $2.30. And, we had an Entertainment Book coupon for a BOGO soft serve cone, but the girl let me use that with my sundae instead (great customer service!). In the end, we walked away with a small sundae and a medium vanilla soft serve for that single price (plus a tip, of course). There's something about their strawberry sundae sauce that's just so good there. It's candy-sweet, but not overpoweringly so. And the sundaes are all soft serve ice cream (as are their banana splits, I believe, although they do have a selection of hard ice cream as well). They have a small, cute outdoor seating area, and all orders are walk-up. There's also some light fare food options like hot dogs, but the ice cream is the main attraction. Custard's used to have car cruises once a month in the summer, but I can't seem to find any info on them online, so I'm guessing they no longer do this. The ice cream is delicious, and probably one of the best prices you will find. It's a bit off the beaten path, but the perfect summer dessert destination after dinner at Sunny Jim's, or even Sir Pizza. I dislike this place. The ice cream used to be amazing, and their food good. Now the ice cream is a cheap per made, overly pressed, wholesale base. It taste as bad if not worse then dq. The food taste like it was pursued at a discount grocer. Cheap in, cheap out. The general staff is young and some are remarkable, while others are unresponsive, lazy, and rude. I have stood in line and see the staff serve there friends whilst others waited for a long time. Bottom line I hope the place takes it self more seriously during the next ice cream season. Nothing fancy, but when we're in the mood for fast food, we'd much rather go to Custard's than to McD's or BK, The food is decent, served up quickly, and we enjoy sitting under the umbrella and watching the world go by. The girl said that the owner "lost a bet, so they don't serve custard" (whatever that means), "but our soft serve is good - it's better than Dairy Queen's, because we use cream". Umm, no. It tasted like frozen, fake chocolate water. After having to purchase a bottle of water too (there is a $6 minimum purchase if you use a debit card), we ended up throwing the cones away after two licks. Disgusting. The staff often trip among themselves in a crossfire trying to all help the order of one customer, when it would be much more efficient if they keep one staff person per customer.
