    29.Seafood Fra Diavolo

When we came in we noticed a $1/fresh oyster deal happening so we took advantage of that right away. The place is somewhat small, only one waiter attended to all tables. A bit on the pricier side but there are plenty of not-as-budget-breaking options. We ordered 2 dozen oysters. They were very fresh. We also ordered a New England Clam Chowder, a Seafood fra Diavolo, a Fatty Beef Creamy Rice, and a Curry Pork Katsu omelette rice. We definitely needed a to-go bag but we wanted to try a lot! I'd go back again to try some new options. Overall pretty solid place with nice service, and food came out piping hot and quickly.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant but it was pretty hard to try it. Tried a few times but they were either closed or hosted a party so wasn't taking any customers. So I finally came here on a Sunday for lunch where there were no other customers. Parking can be a hit or a miss as it gets pretty packed in this parking lot. It's clean inside with a nice aesthetic. Sake steamed clams - must try! Love it and worth it. If you don't like clams then what are you doing? Clams were perfectly steamed in sake. Don't worry for those who are allergic to sake. You won't turn red as the alcohol evaporated during the steam. Sea urchin pasta - good at first but then got boring after about 3 bites. Uni was a bit overcooked and rarely any in it. Seafood Fra Daivolo - more tasteful and worth it compare to their uni pasta, in my opinion. Has no kick but each bite has it's flavor. Plus it comes with seafood. No Asian fusion here. Basically just an Italian pasta. Overall, not sure if I would come back. Maybe for their sake steamed clams. That was the highlight of my lunch. Pasta was enough to feed one person so I don't feel like it's worth the money unless you want to stay in Chinatown and craving for pasta. There's not much of an Asian kick to it that makes their pasta stand out from a typical authentic Italian restaurant.

Cutting Board was good. We ordered: Takoyaki, Fried Calamari, Lobster Roll, Seafood Fra Diavolo, Sea-urchin Uni (best), Pork Katsu Rice, and Grilled Salmon. The appetizers were okay, the takoyaki batter was a bit too thick. The pork katsu rice was decent, I didn't enjoy the curry it came with that much, they gave you a huge portion with a lot of rice though. The seafood fra diavolo was delicious and it was also spicy, the sauce had a strong tomato flavor to it. The grilled salmon came with an egg omelet along with rice, it was also decent. The best dish was the Sea-urchin Uni Pasta because it was so creamy and tasty. The next best dish would be the lobster roll and the lobster tasted really fresh! This restaurant is quite expensive since most of the dish has seafood in them, but the portion of each dish is a lot so you can definitely share them or eat family-style. I would highly recommend getting the Uni Pasta and the Lobster Roll if you're new to the place :)

This pasta restaurant in Chinatown is a refreshing addition of food options. We stopped in around 3:30 PM on Saturday and were the only diners, party of three. We were promptly greeted and seated. Since it was in between lunch and dinner time, we opted to order less than we usually would. I like the varieties and options available on the menu, large enough menu to not get bored but not too large where it can get tricky in the kitchen. Prices seem reasonable, was very exited to try. We ordered these three things to share: * hamachi kama- nicely done, not charred like some places can be. I especially like how it's cut into pieces so it was easy to share. * curry beef omu rice - looks very appetizing and tasted as great as it looks! * uni pasta - I like the flavor and presentation but I was confused as to why it was so saucy. I've never seen one with this much sauce. Additionally, I felt the uni was overcooked. I'm not sure if this is the usual way it's prepared but will come back to give it another try. We had to ask for chopsticks, then for spoons. Not sure how anyone eats hamachi kama without chopsticks or noodle pastas with a spoon. Otherwise, service was good but could've been friendlier, seemed annoyed every time we asked for something like change of plates or utensils. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and will come back to try other menu items. The restaurant is cute and modern. Love the space between tables, allowing for easier flows of conversations.

I came here on a Friday night and was lucky enough to get couple of tables together for our large party. The restaurant was packed before I arrived at 7:30. I ordered lobster rice and uni pasta and clam chowder soup and they were all delicious. The mussels we had for appetizer had great flavor with the sauce they used.

Came here during lunch where Bellaire gets less chaotic so parking was easily accessible. It was busy at all. The service was passive. It wasn't busy and the server wasn't really attentive. I had to call him over a few times for refills and to order. The food itself wasn't bad. I would say my favorite was the CB mussels which were light in flavor (in a good way). I had the kimchi beef slice udon and uni pasta for entrees and it was good (but not amazing). The uni pasta was not strong in uni flavor at all but was definitely creamy. You taste more of the pink sauce which is good for those who don't like a strong uni flavor. The kimchi udon was on a sweeter side surprisingly. I would come back to try other food items or if everywhere else was crowded.

I came here for dinner and had an overall good experience. The service was fast, and we were immediately seated upon arrival. My table got the wings to start and the sea urchin pasta as well as the stir-fried beef udon to share. The wings had a crispy exterior with a well-seasoned batter and a juicy interior. It was a solid wing and came out fresh and hot. (6/10) The sea urchin pasta was my favorite thing that I tried. The sauce was creamy and flavorful without being too heavy. I liked the flavor of the sea urchin, I just wish there was more on the plate. (7/10) Unfortunately, I was not a big fan of the stir fried beef udon. The dish was very bland and felt undercooked for a stir fry. (3/10) With that said, the service here was great and the servers refilled our waters throughout our dinner. Though there is room for improvement, I would say that this is a good spot to try if you are in Chinatown and find yourself craving some pasta. Also, it is right next to Heytea if you're looking for a sweet treat afterward.

Walked-in on a weekend and was able to get seated right away! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They been open for about 2 months now. Took place of where Jungle Cafe used to be. Started off with A Lobster Bisque which surprised me a lot. It was nice and creamy, not too seafoody and had a good amount of lobster chunks in it. Also got the mussels to start and it was different, but good. Had a creamier sauce to it. Cooked well. And got the fried wings, good crunch and still maintained its juiciness. It deff needed the thai chilli sauce to dip, cause it was just plain salted wings. For the main, I got the Pork Katsu with curry and rice. Pork was cooked perfectly tender and nice fry for the coating. Curry was pretty standard as well and came with some cabbage and potato salad. Overall it was okay! Parking - within the plaza next to Tao Rice Roll or garage near by in the dun huang plaza

Bland and watery.... I know it's just the soft opening but damn.... I had high hopes. It felt more HK cafe rather than Italian bistro.... You only get one 3 pronged fork for silverware but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.... Whatever. I can over look that if the food was good but the sauces (all of them) felt like they came from an ordinary jar that had water to rinse it out.... And THEN the cook didn't take the time to reduce the water out before serving. That's what it felt like. It was so watery that the sauce didn't stick to the pasta. We didn't finish anything but the pork katsu (which felt spongy like it was cha lua). Idk... Servers were nice, responsive and attentive. Would I go back? Maybe. I wish the chef would have reduced the sauces another 20-30%. I'll give it another shot after they get some legs under them. Unless you enjoy watery sauces. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ to each their own. Btw, that littler bakery next door was good. It was funny to see how many Cutting Board customers go next door afterwards...

Stopped by again because we were craving the seafood udon and heard they were having a special on their seafood rolls. The seafood udon was good, just remember to mixed it up because the sauce settles at the bottom. The crab roll and lobster rolls were good, but I wish the bread was a bit more buttered? Besides that, it's a good thick brioche bun. Get them while you can for ~$10 a roll. The fatty beef creamy rice is always a solid choice.

This place far exceeded my expectations! The restaurant is clean, and the servers are friendly, honestly a perfect place for a quick dinner. -lobster creamy rice 5/5 This dish was incredible. Resembles a risotto except the rice is more chunky. It's super creamy with a good amount of lobster. For $12.99 you're not going to find anything better. -seafood stir fry udon 5/5 This was the highlight of our meal. The udon was cooked perfectly, the sauce was light yet packed with umami. They don't skimp out on the seafood with lots of shrimp, calamari, clams, and mussels. The bonito flakes added on top rounds out the seafood flavor. Overall an extremely well done dish. -hong kong milk tea A bit watered down probably b/c they brewed it hot but I see the potential. It's very tea forward, and not super sweet like a lot of places.

A friend and I stopped in for lunch during their soft opening yesterday. The staff is very friendly, though a little shy. The food was excellent. I definitely will come back, and try recommend sea urchin noodles. It's a bit of an eclectic, pasta forward menu that includes things such as a New England style lobster roll with fries, spaghetti, but also udon soup and stirfry. The large Pork Katsu cutlet was a perfect side to share -- but needs a dipping sauce. We walked with teas from nearby ShareTea, but they have cooler with canned sodas.

Pastas we ordered initially came out cold - our incredible waiter immediately corrected the issue. But from a flavor profile - Pansotti - sooooo delicious. You'd never guess that it was a vegetarian option - the mushrooms were so meaty. The delicate pouches with the spinach and ricotta were heavenly. Pappardelle - The lamb braised sauce had a depth of flavor that could rival any restaurant in Italy. My only tiny hope was that the pasta would have been served aldente, it was a little overcooked. But to each his own. Overall - really great. Would recommend. This would be great for a weeknight dinner or an off the beaten path date night.

Instead of ordering an appetizer and an entree, my friend and I decided to order 3 things from the appetizer menu: Arancini Montanare Impepata Napoletana The arancini was delicious! The exterior/crust wasn't too thick and was fried nicely. As for the filling, it had cheese, beef, and tomato sauce- yum! I really enjoyed the montanare because it came with 3 different toppings. Not to mention, the bread was fantastic! All 3 were great but my favorite was the one with smoked provolone, anchovy, and the red chili on top (I believe that's what the red topping is). The Impepata Napoletana was another solid dish- loved the white wine sauce with garlic and pepper. Although it was a tad bit too salty for me, it paired nicely with the bread. For dessert, my friend got the pistachio gelato and I ordered the Tiramisu. Both were a great way to end dinner. Food was wonderful, our waiter was very friendly/welcoming, and the vibes were lovely.
