The cars here cyle every few months so its always something different. If you had to pick between the 2, the one in Portsmouth is probably the way to go. They also host the annual Audrain Concours and Motor Week each October. We were having lunch next door and were debating whether it was worth it to drive back up to Portsmouth to visit the Newport Car Museum (having a few moto enthusiasts in my family including my car-obsessed child) when we came upon Audrain, and caught the Porsche exhibit. Helpful and knowledgeable staff were on hand to answer questions and were very happy to chat about the cars and tell us more about the history and culture. It's an incredible and selective collection. For those who wish to learn more, the description plaques had QR codes that you can scan for more information or to watch and hear the car. They rotate exhibits every few months, so check their website or social media for upcoming themes if you're in the area.

The art inside is something you may never see again. You must stop if you are in Newport. The hours were confusing to me, so give a call or look at their web site to see when they are open. The art, all of it, on display is wonderful. Each piece is set perfectly, the lighting perfect and the story behind each piece is fascinating. If you are a Rockwell fan at all, you have to go here. You may think you know Rockwell's but I saw illustrations I had no idea existed, from the cute to the serious to the beauty of telling of a time in US history. The John Rogers sculptures are really something to see. This was my first time noticing his work and I just stood there in awe. Enjoy.

Rockwell painted much larger paintings, for example the actual four freedom paintings are probably 4 feet by 6 feet. The detail required could never be done in such small canvases. Yes there are plenty of actual paintings and illustrations but not nearly as many as you would think.

There's so many hidden things here and there that are in plain sight but you can't tell because there's trees and other beautiful things surrounding it. Came here with my husband for a tea event, and the grounds alone were breathtaking and relaxing. There is a trail that you can walk. There's also a gift shop and a pond and it's just also peaceful. Very serene view of mother nature I can see anybody being able to paint at this gorgeous peaceful area. You should definitely go online and see upcoming events. They have whiskey tasting gin tasting tea events if you like tea like I do, and even though I am more of a tequila person, I would definitely come for a whiskey tasting event. The pictures I took do not do it any justice as far as how beautiful the scenery is. When you get a chance, you should definitely come down here and might as well buy a family membership if you have a family so that you can come back more than once.

I arrived after/hours for the Closing Reception for the participants & was relegated to only 1 room for the event. It was a relatively small space & I'm not sure if there were other rooms. I also can't speak to what kind of art they normally display as I was only there for the event. What I can tell you is that the staff very enthusiastic about the gallery. They were so approachable & full of historical information about the venue. They certainly convinced me to come back at a later date! I was told by one of the patrons that this is one of the most under-appreciated galleries in the state & how they come here monthly. That being said, if you're looking for a museum, this isn't the place for you. But, if you're looking for a place to view local artwork, you should check it out & help support this community gem. I love a place that loves supporting the community!

I'm not sure if she told me exactly who did the voting but the statement is easy to believe. The museum is in the cool old Kentish Artillery Armory located right in the center of historic Apponaug. It's a place many people go by every day but probably not many actually stop to visit. Parking on the street is usually impossible and the whole area is a mess. They have been talking about fixing the road forever but probably never will. You have to be a bit creative in finding parking. The museum is more of a cultural center than an actually museum because the emphasis is on the new and not the old and things are always changing. The main display area is one large room and they have about a dozen or so exhibitions a year. Different things by different local artists throughout Rhode Island. A chance to check out the talent in the area. The last time I dropped in the exhibition was art by talented middle school kids and their teachers. Although I have to admit I wasn't very excited when I heard the display was going to be by kids, I was pleasantly surprised. Many very creative and original pieces were present and the talent was obvious. Besides the art shows the museum also has various music, theater, comedy and poetry readings through the year. Things are constantly changing but the one constant is the emphasis on local talent. There is no fee to see the art exhibitions and different prices for the other performances. The Warwick Museum of Art is a small place that offers a lot of different talent. It's a shame that instead of just driving by more people didn't actually take the time to drop in.
