This is THE WORST CVS I have ever been to. The whole store is complete chaos. There are boxes everywhere, merchandise waiting to be stocked. The floors are dirty and the check out counter is a complete mess. Over stock is just left in the aisles or random shopping carts and half the store is empty. I feel bad for the employee working behind the counter, he clearly needed help. I'm not sure if the store is understaffed but I cannot imagine being the General Manager or any sort of leadership at this store, they clearly need to fire them. Maybe CVS doesn't have district or regional managers who visit their stores. This location is a total embarrassment with completely incompetent management. I'm surprised to see the negative comments about the pharmacy. I've had the best interactions with every single person back there. the pharmacist is the sweetest and most helpful woman. there's the younger guy who absolutely works his butt off and hustles to get everybody taken care of. ive never left annoyed or upset with them. for the overall store, I agree that it's quite messy and unorganized at times, but I still can't take away any stars due to the staff on the floor too. somehow theyre always there right when I need them. there's one lady in particular that stands out and I wish I could remember her name! Nothing but issues here! 5 months ago they were doing renovations and closed the Drive through pharmacy, renovations have ended about 3 months ago yet the pharmacy staff things its ok to be so lazy and not open the window ever again. They refuse to help customers and refuse to open the window. I was told they're supposed to have it open and use it but they don't. They will hold your medication for hostage. This CVS deserves a negative five stars! I mean, most CVS pharmacies are the worst, but this one is ridiculous. Neil Preston, the store manager, and the Pharmacist, Caroline, know nothing about customer service or how to treat people. You can see what kind of leader she is by the way her pharmacy techs treat customers. I was there the other day to see if I could get my flu shot switched to then because I had a last-minute doctor's that afternoon during my appointment. No, keep in mind there were no customers anywhere near the pharmacy, NONE! I stood over by the checkout line and waited. The pharmacy tech (heart-shaped glasses), after standing there for a while, made no eye contact and said she would be with me shortly. Then, I continued working and working after about ten more minutes (still not one other customer around), and after the lady who had been helping someone in the drive-through told her she had a customer, I went up to her and asked if I could get a shot. First, she said there would be a wait! Then I told her I had an app in the afternoon, and she said only the pharmacist (Caroline) could check and see what she could do. Then she took two customers who just arrived at the pharmacy when I had already been waiting 20 minutes or more. She claimed the man who came well after me had an appt. I asked to speak to a manager (Neil) who had no answers, looked at me like I was crazy, and accused me of lying that I wasn't waiting because he didn't see me waiting! Even a customer tried to tell him how long I had been waiting, which he ignored, and meanwhile, the pharmacy feeling and the girl with the heart-shaped glasses said nothing even though she knew exactly how long I was waiting because she was the one who ignored me for most of the time!! I mean, can you believe that! I have never encountered a more clueless manager and incredibly rude and inconsiderate pharmacist!! I know it's tough to find people these days, but come on, CVS, do better!! So, after being so upset, practically crying after this manager accused me of lying and served no resolution except to say he needed to get the pharmacist's story before he could do anything! Seriously! Again, I'm saying I'm lying about everything that I experienced! DON'T PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS! They have no idea how to treat customers, and I will not wing all of my prescriptions from here! The only reason I gave this CVS a chance was because it's my insurance company's preferred pharmacy! Pros: + 24 hours. I needed some painkillers for my toothache and this CVS came to the rescue. I like their Pharmacy a lot. The Pharmacist was helpful and knowledgeable. They were very quick with their services. + Discounted items after the holidays. Whether it's Christmas or Valentine's Day or Halloween, you can always count on this CVS to have heavily discounted items after a special occasion. I come here for the deals! Cons: + The self check out often is not in service or doesn't work properly so you end up waiting in long lines. This place gets busy quickly and it's not really their fault but at the same time, they probably should have more staff on hand to run the check out lines. + The manager is not good with math and has conflict with her employees right in front of the customers. I came here on a sale day and the items were not scanning properly.... The cashier straight up said "I have to punch these items in manually and that's a lot of work so I'm going to have the manager do it." I just looked at her like....what? You don't want to do it because "it's a lot of work?" I didn't know you got to pick and choose what you wanted to do at work. So because of this, I had to wait a good 20 mins. for the manager to be available. I had to just stand to the side and wait...and wait...and wait.... Eventually the manager came out and tried to ring me up. Again, she discovered she had to punch it in manually. She did not know how to use the calculator on her phone to figure out the discounted price. I could tell she was estimating sometimes. I just want to put this here for future reference: when something is discounted by a percentage, you subtract the percentage from 100% (which is 1) and then multiple it to the price to get the final price. For example: 70% off is: 1 - 0.7 = 0.3, 0.3 x Price Tag = Final Price 90% off is 1 - 0.9 = 0.1, 0.1 x Price Tag = Final Price read more

This is a convenient place to go when you need something because they are open 24/7. Prices tend to be high-- a picture frame was $10 and a gallon of milk was $5. If you go in the evening, expect to wait in line to pay. Although there are self-checkout lanes, they are often not open at night and the line is apt to be 4-5 people deep. I've had both satisfactory and poor customer service experiences here depending on the employees working. read more

I have been going to this CVS regularly for four years, the last two of which I lived within walking distance of the store. During this time I have seen this location make great improvements in customer service and cleanliness, and have to strongly disagree with the negative reviews left by others from years past. (I should mention that I have never used the pharmacy, however, and so cannot comment on that.) I felt compelled to write this today due to the excellent help I received last night from one of the employees at this store. This location, as others have said, is absolutely disgusting and the staff blatantly couldn't care less. I live nearby and pop in here occasionally for little conveniences, and every time it has smelled faintly of urine, especially in the aisle in the back and tonight I found out why. I stopped to grab some food for my cat and found the outside of the bag was sticky and smelled foul. I look on the shelf and there are pellets of rodent feces and yellow stains everywhere! Thankfully the pharmacy girl gave me some hand sanitizer and I immediately found a front employee. Their response to what I found? This is the worst CVS on the planet. The staff are rude and lazy, the place is filthy, and the local miscreants from the subsidized housing complexes hang out here. The slap box in the parking lot, walkways, and occasionally the aisles in the store. The local cabbies also treat this place as their personal parking lot/lounge and loiter outside smoking cigarettes and casting judgmental glares. If you have to enter this dump, be prepared to be frustrated easily and often. If you have to buy a few items, you will see several cashiers screwing off in the front of the store who will aggressively push you to use self check out. I generally like CVS. This CVS annoys the hell out of me though. It's right nearby my house so I continue to go here for a quick script, or if I need something. I don't know how many times I have had my prescriptions messed up here, it's a lot. Additionally, the people working here are a bunch of morons. The head pharmacist was nice to me once because I bitched to corporate and threatened to overturn the charges on my credit card for a prescription they screwed up and gave me a $25 gift card. I'm not sure why this CVS has so many negative reviews. After reading a few I can gather that there are several people in this area think that the people who work at this location are arrogant and rude. I've lived near the area for about 6 months so far and often make beer and frozen pizza runs. The deals they have are great, often times better than most places. The staff has always been friendly with me, with the exception of the Filipino guy who I'm assuming is the manager. In the late night you'll often see him barking orders at his staff, not really a good way to run a store, let alone how to act when customers are present. I can't speak for the pharmacy, but the rest of the store is usually really neat and the staff are knowledgeable about where things are. Bottom line: These yuppies in Alexandria need to realize that it's a CVS. You don't like the people who hang out near the store? Don't go there. You don't think the staff smiles at you enough? Get over it and drive to the target a few miles down the road. It's in a super convenient location, has great prices and sales, and the staff are usually really nice. read more

[This review is for the pharmacy only, not the store, the latter of which I have no opinion about.] I feel compelled to review this great neighborhood pharmacy to balance the other nasty reviews here, one of which is overtly racist. I have been going to this pharmacy regularly for over a year and love it. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, even when they are clearly very backed up. They've been willing to answer weird questions, look up information, or make tedious phone calls to doctor's offices or other pharmacies. All the people that work there seem to me to have exactly that friendly non-judgmental vibe one would want from pharmacy staff. Another big reason I love them is that the pharmacist there caught a mistaken prescription that could have put me in the hospital or worse. The prescription was sent electronically, and the pharmacist called the doctor to get it changed. She spent more time than I would ever want to spend on the phone with my doctor's dense assistant who kept insisting that the prescription was correct. Another pharmacist could have easily missed the erroneous prescription, a switch from a sustained-release form to non-sustained release, because it could have been appropriate for a patient much larger than me. They are really busy, so I avoid going there between 5:00 and 7:00 pm, because there are long waits then. read more

This has been my go to CVS for over 10 years. I go there at least once a month to get prescriptions filled, therefore I am a regular customer. Besides being located next to a Starbucks, restaurants and a grocery store, the ease of parking and access from road makes it very convenient. The icing on the cake is the best customer service that I receive every time I go there. All the pharmacy staff are great. The area/demographic has some difficult individuals some are of a business nature, just too busy and not patient and some of mixed cultures so communication can be hard on the staff without an interpreter, I always give myself a few extra minutes to get through the store. This CVS is really convenient because it is RIGHT across the street from my office. If it weren't for that, I would avoid it at ALL costs. On a traditional visit to CVS, I pick up a prescription (so I am there about 1 time a month) and inevitably, while my prescription is on automatic refill and I only show up after I get my handy dandy phone call, I wait in line for 20 minutes while they get their act together behind the counter. Once to the register, I am out in 2 minutes flat. Again, for the convenience, I am willing to deal with it. However, today pretty much tipped the scale for me in terms of the beyond poor customer service at this CVS. I showed up at 7AM (early for a CVS but not for a 24 hr one) and wanted to print photos on their photo machine. I was told to come back at 8 AM. OK, again, I was early. I returned around 8:10AM and the machines were still not on. I spoke to an employee who promptly ignored my request for help and simply stood at his register waiting for customers to need assistance (apparently, he couldn't help me). Finally, the manager shows up at the photo counter and tells me it takes 15 minutes for the machine to warm up. Really? OK! Fine, I will wait. I wait until the screen pops up saying the machine needs more paper. During that time, I listen to her entire phone conversation, in Filipino and even watch her walk away to talk to some employee. When I finally catch her attention and tell her that the machine needs paper, she gets all nervous and says "I can't help you with that. I don't know how to change the paper." What? I look at her with what must have been disbelief on my face. You tell me to wait and then you can't help me? So after 30 minutes of waiting with the intent of making multiple purchases at this CVS, I drop all of my stuff on the counter and walk out. The thought of taking my business to another CVS doesn't really excite me because I gather that this is the type of service given at most CVS locations. Guess I can use yelp to find a place where I can get my photos printed with much less hassle. read more

Horrible customer service. One time i had a sunburn on my skin so i decided to come in to find something to relieve the pain. Well, so I waited at the consultation window for about 5 mins, no greeting whatsoever from any of the staffs. All I had was 1 simple question, "What would you recommend for the sunburn?" The pharmacist sat right behind the computer and she did see me but continued to ignore me. She has very dark skin if i remember correctly. In fact, I've been dealing with new insurance denying me my medications I've been taking for years and the people at the pharmacy have been more helpful, and displayed more empathy, than my doctors office staff has been. It has everything any other CVS has and I've found the pharmacy staff friendly and helpful. It's incredibly useful because it's very close to my apartment. Unfortunately, I completely avoid it after dark because it does not feel safe at all at night. There are always large groups of men congregating outside the store after dark and as a woman alone I never feel safe going there unless it's broad daylight. read more

I used this CVS for general errands for almost three years. I remember the time when you basically couldn't pay at the cash register and were always referred to the self check out or you waited and nobody ever came ... But this got much better in the recent year and overall the staff behind the sales counter is friendly. This one star actually goes out to the pharmacy of this place. Back in December I needed to pick up a medication. I was the first at the counter with nobody behind me. The lady was busy with something else and it took a while until she came to me. Then she had trouble with my insurance card. After this got solved, she told me to wait a few minutes and started serving the customers behind me (in the meantime there was a long line). At this point I was still ok with the situation. Then she moved to the other site of the pharmacy. First I thought she was talking to my doctor on the phone, then I realized she was doing something completely different. So I went in line to get served by her co-worker. When it was finally my turn again I asked for my medication. She found it in one of the baskets (which the first person pointed out) and all that sudden started to do other stuff (typing and packing other medication). It was unreal. Then a third staff member came back from her lunch break and FINALLY this person was able to give me my medication. So it "only" took about a whole hour to pick it up. I suspect somebody trained these people to multi-task but this is not the way to do it. read more

A prescription for another person! I could have died. The staff is not educated enough to even work in the store let alone the pharmacy. Alba is the worst she's a rude know it all that gives out wrong information and just tried to rush you out of the store or off the phone. They often hang up on you, waits are 20 min+ to find out if I refill is there (YES YOU MUST check) because they never have them ready. They are clearly overworked and understaffed and this has gone on a long, long time. OMG...Are all the CVS pharmacy personnel from another world! I have lived here for 1 year coming from another state where I always used a Walgreens Pharmacy. Here I have been using CVS for convenience as it is only a few blocks from my house. The people here are complete idiots. They have never EVER once gotten one of my prescriptions correct, and I have to go there monthly (what am I thinking...sometimes I have to go back 2 or 3 times because they screw it up). My husband and I have talked to management, we have talked directly with the pharmacist. We have stood in front of their face, and they still will "F" it up. The rating here is less than a zero!!! I generally like CVS too, but this one has THE WORST customer service. The Pharmacy is fine. I've never had a problem with their staff- its the front counter staff. Overall, they are less than spectacluar with a few incidents standing out: Once I was trying to print photos. Since there was noone around, I didn't worry about taking my time with my project. About 20 minutes in (which during that time noone asked me if I needed any help at all) a customer came in to get some passport photos done. The employee took her pics then asked me to MOVE OFF of the photo machine that I was currently using because she needed it to print out these passport photos! The passport service is a one hour service, not an instant one, so why was I being asked to abandon my project so this other customer could get instant service? With my jaw dropped to the floor, I just stared at her while she just waited for me to get out of her way so she could help this other customer. I left this store vowing to never frequent it again, but after 6 months or so, I decided I overreacted and would give this cvs a second chance because the location is so convienient. Boy, was that a mistake! A few days ago, I tried to make a vitamin puchase with some coupons but didn't know if what I had brought to the counter couunted as vitamins. After trying to dicuss this purchase with the cashier, I was just ended up getting berated with his attitude: First about the 30$ minium (that's what I needed to use the coupon) Then about how fiber is not a vitamin. After asking him to just try it to see he simply refused (A manager came over, told the cashier fiber capsules were classified as vitamins and to just go ahead) Then, it turns out the other 2 bottles of vtamins were buy one get one free (which was NOT marked on the shelf- so very typical of this cvs, just another issue with this store) Bringing it to his attention, he berated me about this "sale" and finally, he gave me a hard time about trying to use more than one kind of coupon for this purchase! He was simply unbelievable. I felt like I was getting interrogated for trying to steal from this store. Trying to utilize their store coupons with their store sales is just a good use of my money- it is not theft. I am never, ever going to this CVS again. It is just not worth the hassel. read more
