Arrived in Austin late at night and needed some supplies so we moseyed on down towards this CVS. It's situated super close to frat houses and a bunch of bars and you can tell. It looks like the place was hit hard as there were items everywhere, there were boxes littered throughout with items meant for restocking, and the energy just felt a little tense. That being said, I think it's not too bad of a location. Super close by where my Airbnb was and close by bus station and a major road in the city. It's long but not wide and so there aren't a ton of aisles but the aisles are longish. The beginning of one aisle might have chips but by the end of it you'll be with the makeup. Cashiers are up front and there aren't a lot of self checkout lanes. Some items were locked behind a glass door but for the most part, everything was accessible without the help of employees. I didn't find my first choice for a couple of items but found my backup choice. So I'll give it a 3 star. But don't expect it to be the cleanest or most tidy read more

1-star is being generous about the service I received at this CVS. I was in the 2nd floor with left hand full of items to buy and right hand holding a cane. I walked to the elevator. Ruby was standing to my left, looked at me, then continued with looking at her cell phone. The least she could have done was press the down button of the elevator. Instead, I did it. She boarded the elevator with me. We both went to the first floor. She was the cashier and didn't know how coupons work. She asked a male co-worker for help, causing delay in checking out. I said forget the coupon (which the pharmacist in the 2nd floor gave me). After my purchase, I told Ruby about the elevator incident, that she was more engrossed in her cell phone than providing good service. I asked her who is the supervisor of this CVS. She said she is the supervisor. What a shock. A supervisor who gives Bad customer service and who didn't know how coupons work. Negative star rating! read more

This is a great CVS, even though it is in a little run down building. It smack dab in the middle of University of Texas Campus, which makes it very convenient. Especially, since they have tons of cold and flu medicines and a late pharmacy. They also have great coupons if you have a CVS card. It's free, so I recommend it. There are two stories. 1st has all the incdidentals and refrigerataed goods, including BEER! The second is the Pharmacy and household goods and medicines. It is really the only name brand pharmacy close to campus, and the students are really luck to have it. read more

I recently moved from Florida where my CVS visits were consistently horrible due to understaffing and poor management. Unfortunately this was the service I was expecting here in Austin as well. I was pleasantly surprised after my first pharmacy visit by how organized and efficient the process was. Well I just returned for my 2nd visit, to pickup a prescription and to get a Covid Vaccine. I was assisted by the pharmacy manager Austin and I immediately understood why things ran so smoothly at this location. Austin was professional, extremely helpful and basically exceeded all of my expectations. He is an amazing asset to this organization and I hope that CVS can find more people like Austin to run their other locations. Thank you for a great experience. read more

Austin in the pharmacy was an absolute lifesaver! Quickly moving a prescription late night to his store and getting it ready in time for me to swing in right before closing. He made sure to let me know how/where to park on the street and to head to the 2nd floor because he knew we were in a hurry - he is a Godsend! He also took such good care of my daughters and treated them to stickers and a pop-it, which went a long way in getting them home happy. Austin is a legend! :) read more

One of the slowest pharmacies I've ever used, they'll literally have only one desk open and 3 technicians filling while there's a line out the aisle. Once, I prepaid for a script and was told to then pay again when I went to pick it up, even after showing the pharmacist the charge on my bank account. I suppose this is what you get when your pharmacy's customers are all socially inept students terrified of confrontation rather than old sick people who actually care about service. read more

Shame I can't give a half star. I am a diabetic veteran. Bad enough I can't get insulin needles from the VA because it would hurt thier bonus pay for beuing under budget. SO i tried the CVS at William Cannon and Manchaca.Yes we have thise type of needles. They had them all right. A box of 300 costs 50c aa piece. Can't break open a box. Never really had any problems with this cvs even from a pharmacy stand point. Also haven't been going to this cvs for a few years now. Even the lines, if there were any, weren't terrible. The location is very convenient. My only really problem with the place was the cleanliness and the size of the parking area with it being so congested all the time. read more

From the other Yelp reviews, it looks like there may be some issues. :/ This is a really good CVS if you are traveling to Austin and staying near UT and The Capitol. It's right across from the UT campus. It's a large CVS and has all the products you'll need that you may have forgotten when packing (shampoo, shaving cream, etc.). The CVS also has a good grocery/market section with cold cases full of drinks, milk, frozen microwave meals, healthy food options (like hummus and such), etc. If you are staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites, this CVS is a good resource for getting snacks and such that you can keep in your room's mini-fridge. The prices are much better here and you have a wider selection to choose from. The self-scan registers are found at the front of the store. They are easy to use, and made shopping so convenient. Even though I didn't pay for my stuff at the regular registers, the staffers I talked to were nice. On a few occasions, I asked them where items were and they were helpful and cheerful. I've gone to many CVS's and come face-to-face with zombie and berserker employees, so the shopping experience at this CVS was a pleasure. read more

When I arrived to this cvs for my Covid shot I thought, this is so dirty looking but maybe it's better inside. It was not better inside, it smells like they let people pee in the corner of the store. After receiving my vaccine, I had to sit and wait 15 minutes until they would give me my vaccination card (this is fine I know you are supposed to do this). Y'all I kid you not, while I was waiting a RAT ran past my foot. I have never gathered my things and gotten out of a store so fast. read more

HOLY SHIZZNIZZ. :: OMG THEY RENOVATED I CANNOT SAY THAT ENOUGH TIMES. :: they have a REAL MOTION-TRIGGERED ENTRANCE & EXIT. no more of the ratty doors that were there before! it is now wider and easier to go in and out. AMEN. :: clean aisles. :: better lighting :: better organized aisles and products :: self-checkout at the front monitored by an employee. WAY more efficient in my opinion. makes checking out FASTER than before. before it was 1 person moving about 1 mph for 50 people. now i can get my pop rocks and condoms more efficiently! you can STILL get cashback from the self-checkouts, too! :: they now offer a premade food and beverage section when you come in and it's to the left. this is great for late night emergency food and drinks when you want to take a study or work break. This is the tiniest, most compact CVS I've ever been in. We mainly just use the pharmacy here. For many years, it has been the closest place to pick up our prescriptions, convenient because it's within walking distance from home. The pharmacy always has what we need, and our orders are usually filled within a few hours. The store itself is handy for picking up a few needed items (i.e. dish soap, tissues) if I'm already coming in for prescriptions. read more

Prescriptions ALWAYS wrong. Every single time. Wrong price, never ready. Make me wait every single time. Even when I use their app or refill prescriptions, and call ahead, and when I have auto-refill and cvs pharmacy recording leaves me a daily voicemail saying it's ready. DO NOT EVER HAVE PRESCRIPTIONS SENT HERE!!!!! They tried to charge me $950 for my $10 prescription after I waited 30 minutes in store after pre ordering..... This places SUCKS. I dread going to this CVS. This as got to be the most poorly stocked, poorly run, disorganized and messy CVS in Austin. The employees are always getting slammed because I'm pretty sure the manager hangs out in the back, avoiding doing any work. I mean where is that asshole, I always see him smoking out on the loading dock in the parking lot but I have NEVER seen him working in the store. He should be managing his store rather than leaving his poor employees stranded at the front with only one register open. It takes at least 10 minutes (no exaggeration) of waiting in line to buy one fucking thing. Every time I stop just to buy a bottle of water or juice they either are just getting around to stocking them, rendering them hot and undrinkable, or they are simply not there. How can you not keep the cold stuff stocked. I feel bad for the cashiers because it always seems like there is just one person stuck at the counter having to fend for themselves. It's not that they don't want to help you, they can't if they wanted to. Seriously fire the manager and get someone who can competently run a store. read more

The slowest pharmacy I have ever been to which sucks because parking is not free so you end up paying more just by waiting

The only reason I go here is for the location and the hours, but maybe that is all you can realistically expect from a drugstore chain. I won't go into the products they carry or the sales they have because its a drug store, it's supposed to have those things by definition. Customer service and organization are also things that most businesses are supposed to have and yet at this CVS...none. God bless the sales associates, they seem like nice people but lack what one might call 'common sense'. One person will be stocking while the other is running the register and yet when a line develops they both continue at their meandering pace. No one is called to the front to speed things along. They just keep processing the items in front of them as the line grows longer, winding around display materials and into isles. Additionally, the store always seems to be in disarray. Shelves aren't fully stocked, different products are mixed together, and all the display materials clutter an already small location. For some reason, whenever I enter this CVS I get a feeling similar to being at a retirement home. This place seems to be barely getting by, just holding on. And when I talk to those inside, I'm not always sure they have sense of what's going on. Sure they smile and dole out a pleasantry or two, but I'm never certain if i were to walk out the door and immediately come back in that they wouldn't repeat the same Alzheimer routine. Despite those things, I always come back. I never want to, not really. But I do, and will continue to do so. read more

Impressive array of lubes and condoms...just saying... I guess this makes sense since it is basically on the UT Campus and the kids these days... sheesh... The store itself has been here since the days when i worked at the Conan's Pizza catty cornered in the late 70's. Antones used to sit next door. Unfortunately, my health plan no longer works with Walgreens, so having an office so close to this location, seemed like a good spot to pick up a recent prescription. The store itself is dated and old school. Which wasn't a problem, since the staff were friendly enough. The process itself was pretty quick and gave me an opportunity to browse all the stuff they carried. Which, frankly was pretty extensive. From munchie food to pregnancy prevention and the normal stuffs a student may need at any moment. read more

Usually the people here are friendly, and a small wait at pharmacy, but just now the girl working up front rolled her eyes and sighed angrily when I told her the dog I had with me was my therapy dog. REAL PROFESSIONAL. I know this pharmacy is located next to a university so there are a lot of bratty kids running about, but showing annoyance to someone with a disability is just plain fucking offensive and opens up any business to potential lawsuits. Girl was small and Asian, and working cash register on June 28th in case a manager ever decides to look into this. She ran off before I could get a look at her name tag. read more

I rarely have a prescription filled on time at this pharmacy. I haven't experienced any rude staff members, but I dread coming here because I know I'm going to have some sort of issue every time I try to fill my (monthly) prescription. It got so bad last year that I switched to Walgreens, but I now have Caremark insurance and this is the closest CVS so I am trapped. And as a nice side note, I tried to get my flu shot here this weekend & after almost an hour of waiting, the pharm tech informs me that CVS Caremark insurance doesn't cover a flu shot...at CVS. He didn't understand why I found that so funny. read more

NOTE: I do not use this store to fill prescriptions, next galaxy to never, so my review has absolutely NOTHING to do with the pharmacy portion of this store. I use this store the same way old-timers used to use the "five and dime," and for that purpose I love it! Oh my! I am honestly very surprised to see that this particular CVS, which I used to frequent frequently 2008-2010 and now see less often (only when I'm in that part of town and shopping at Wheatsville or getting a trim at Supercuts) has been getting such low ratings on Yelp. It's not my favorite kind of store. It's a drugstore, after all, and it carries all the most unhealthy junk foods and vanity items that I consider a total waste of money. When it is a convenient location for me I go there for odds and ends. One day it might be band-aids, another day office or school supplies, another to pick up batteries or some such. Some people complained about waiting in line at this store. Although I rarely have had to wait all that long, I know I CAN go to the back of the store and make my purchase at the Pharmacy register (which in fact is what I have done when clerks in front clerks were slowed down). I was served as soon as I got to the back of the store by a very friendly clerk. I love that they are open 24 hours. And yes, some of the people who work there are a bit scatter-brained at times, but I like being served by real people. read more

Although I know their are bigger CVS Pharmacies this one seems to be the only store that sells general items for a discount near the University. I was able to make a extra care membership card with just my phone number and I tend to lose it so thats not a problem cause they just enter my digits in ^^ Its pretty well stocked and very organized and clean. Always seems to be only one cashier available even though they have 2 other registers but they have 3 machine self check outs. The discounts are different about weekly and I seem to save 25% more than I would have if I bought items for full price. Of course you may have get a better deal at like a Walmart or Target but hey its cheaper than a gas station and you may have an emergency and need everyday products NOW They also do returns if you keep the receipt within 2 months ^^ what more can you ask for ^^ read more

The store is fine, sometimes it's not well kept up but no real problems. Checkout service is always slow. I do *not* recommend the pharmacy. I had nothing but trouble. Don't try to call (they'll leave you on hold for hours). There is no customer service to speak of. If you try to get a prescription too close to when they close they'll just tell you tough luck (even in emergencies). I was given bad information by a Pharmacist there about one medication. They were not helpful with my insurance. I kick myself for staying at this pharmacy for so long (almost 2 years)... but the location was so convenient. I have no problem with the CVS itself, but there is a shady company that hides behind the building and will boot your car in 60 seconds when you turn your head, then demand $150 to get it off. I have never been so frustrated, upset, or offended by the way I was treated by any medical professional or medical service. I came in to pick up my birth control medication after 4 years of being on the medication and using CVS and was told that I was not in plan for CVS. When I showed the young, male pharmacist my insurance card, he refused to run it and told me I either needed to go to a different pharmacy or pay $27 for just one month of birth control. His demeanor was dismissive, condescending, and downright rude and I have to wonder if it was based on my appearance as a young woman. I called my insurance provider and after some time on the phone, was informed that in fact the medication IS covered by CVS and that it should have been free. Now I have to go back to get a refund on a prescription that should have been free in the first place after REPEATEDLY telling the pharmacist that it was. Am absolutely beyond upset and frustrated - nobody should ever be treated this way when they go in to get their prescription. read more

Not too bad. This place usually smells like either popcorn or coconut oil, and I do like both of those smells. The management I think are washed up leftovers from when Eckerds went out of business and folded, so you know that they will be very learned in where things like the toilet paper is and they will be very nice and helpful to you. The pharmacy is a huge ripoff compared to HEB or Wal Mart, but hell, everyone knows not to use the pharmacy at a CVS. Overall I love buying lots of things here like cereal, beer, sale items, rubbers, soft drinks, microwave meals, after holiday candy, you name it. I kinda dig this place. read more

The lines are usually pretty long between classes, so it's not an in-and-out experience. This place is small and has the bear minimum of stuff. Do yourself a favor and do not send your prescriptions here! Seriously. It will make you crazy. I'm so happy I switched to another location. After more than 1.5 years, I guarantee that every time you go to this Pharmacy it will be a total sh** show. Where to start? They get your prescriptions wrong. They tell you it will be ready in 10 minutes. Don't believe them. That's code for "minimum an hour, probably a day, and maybe never." The turnover is high here and it's lots of college kids, which are generally fine... Just not when they're totally inexperienced pharmacy technicians who don't communicate, trying to run a business with high volume of customers. They're always "sorry"-- it's the most "sorry"-a$$ place you've ever been to. It's sad when I have to explain to the clueless tech that people don't want to hear "sorry." They just want you to give them their medicine and not screw up.... Every single time." Even the nurses or doctors assistants groan when I said I used this pharmacy. I have a medication that my insurance covers when using a special rebate card. 10 times I've filled this scrip here. At first I tried to explain to them that my insurance covered it they just needed to do ____....They pharm techs just could not get it right. Ever. My favorite is the last few times when I call and they say it will be $11,189. Um... Are you effing kidding me? And when I explain to the sweet young tech that amount could be a downpayment on a house, and ask "does that number sound right to you?" They will say "sorry... Let me call you back." Without insurance- this medicine is $75. It got to the point where I just was content to pay the $75 instead of try to deal with the sh*t show disorganization that is this pharmacy. I placed an app order for curbside pick up today at 5pm and I've been waiting around until 9pm for them to text me. I ordered 3 items. It wasn't until I called and asked what the hold up is. This is a terrible CVS. The parking is horrid and the street location makes it very difficult to navigate in and out of the parking lot. The pharmacy is always slammed and you can expect to wait in line at least 10-15 minutes. They never have more than one register open at the pharmacy and their customer service is supremely lacking- pharmacy techs that is, the actual pharmacists have always been approachable, helpful and friendly. I continue to use it because it is only 3 or so blocks from home, but every time I have to go I dread it immensely. read more

I've gone to this pharmacy 4-5 times and every time I walk out wondering why I came back. At first, it was just the location itself that sketched me out. The parking lot is difficult to get in and out of and its unclear which spots are for CVS and which are for neighboring businesses (see other reviews for more on that). Then, I realized that this location has terrible selection, is poorly organized, and the shelves are often picked over. On top of all this, if you go to pick up a prescription, you are guaranteed to wait at least 5-10 minutes and there's a good chance that your prescription won't even be ready - even if you've gotten the phone call that it's ready for pickup. The pharmacists are friendly enough, but they are woefully incompetent. Bottom line - try the Walgreens on 45th and Guadalupe. read more

Extremely unreliable. It's a shame I have to go to this pharmacy due to my prescription being way cheaper here than other places. But they screw up my refills all the time, forcing me to call up my doctor or wait for another 20 minutes. It doesn't only happen sometimes, it happens every time! It's come to the point that I have to babysit them, by calling them during my work hours to make sure my prescription will be ready for pick up. read more
