i've lived in the neighborhood for 15 years and have had many bad experiences at this particular CVS. But I want to give a shout out to the delightful tech - her name is Amber - who administered my flu and Covid vaccines yesterday. I had scheduled both vaccines at another CVS several days before... And then received a cancellation at the last minute. I rescheduled the vaccines for the Sangamore CVS only to receive notification that the Covid had been canceled again. I have a serious health condition... and was advised by my Dr to get both at the same time because doing so potentiates the protection of each. Unfortunately... because the system only showed that I had an appointment for the flu vaccine... I was initially told I couldn't have both. Amber successfully advocated on my behalf and skillfully administered both vaccines. She was thoughtful and kind - and took the time to help. CVS should pay more attention to customer service and customer care... and recognize the value of staff like Amber who make a huge difference in my interest in coming back. read more

Went there for Covid shot. I am 81 years old, had 5 previous shots, one at the same Sangamore Bethesda CVS. First, although I had made appt online, 60 seconds before the appt, I was told by text to reschedule. They claimed they were out of Pfizer vaccine. But it seems they had Moderna, as I discovered when I asked. Second, the clown pharmacist told me I couldn't get a shot because I didn't have Medicare Part B. He was right, I didn't, I never have. But this was irrelevant: I did have Blue Cross insurance, which got me the previous shots, but the gentleman ignored this. I was not even offered the possibility to pay for it myself. Really nasty experience. Next day, got my shot at Wisconsin Avenue Bethesda CVS. No problem, pharmacist really friendly and helpful. I SUGGEST YOU DON'T GO TO SANGAMORE BETHESDA CVS. You may be treated like organic fertilizer for your trouble. read more

The store more generally is poorly managed with products often out of stock and staff that don't know anything (including their own store hours). Never a good experience here... Always long lines... Hard to get a human to check someone out... Tried to do a return the other day of something that was bought earlier that same day and they tried to tell me that I could only do an exchange... So I did an exchange for another item... Pharmacy is horrible... There is one or two techs that are amazing but I always get stuck with the young guy who rushes people and doesn't allow for questions. read more

The location is convenient and the parking lot has plenty of space but the customer service here is very lacking...during my latest visit at the self checkout the cashier was very impatient and rude when I let him know another customer was having trouble at the machine next to mine (I had tried to help but wasn't successful). On another occasion I had asked for help getting an item from one of the locked shelves and the store associate insisted I could not use the self checkout after unlocking the shelf and obtaining the item for me. There was a customer waiting in the full service lane but this associate still insisted I had to go to the full service counter. I asked another employee later if this was standard procedure (not to allow customers to use the self checkout when purchasing an item from the locked shelves) but he said no--this second employee was much more helpful and courteous than the others I've encountered. It's a strange store but I still go here when I need to pick up essentials once in awhile. read more

The store itself isn't that bad; it's pretty standard for a CVS in terms of what they stock and customer service. The pharmacy however, is legitimately terrible. The pharmacists are rude and the assistants don't seem to have the basic skills necessary to do their jobs. Prescriptions are never filled on time and sometimes require 2-3 trips back before you can get your medicine. Avoid at all costs. read more

Even if i call literally 6 hours ahead of time to confirm that my meds will be ready, 90% of the time they are not and I have to wait. absolute horrid, unhelpful, not just once, but all the time!! very slow and always makes you wait for over 30 minutes. at times they ask if we can come back tomorrow, how could you do that to a patient who needs medication ASAP? not to mention, that the place always looks chaotic and messy. WORST PHARMACY. The customer service is nonexistent. The majority of the pharmacy staff is rude, unpleasant, unreliable, an unhelpful. For example, I called to inquire about my script that was several days overdue. The person at the pharmacy snapped at me that they are very busy and she doesn't have time to explain what happened and then hung up on me. We will take our business to a competitor. The manager of the store should be fired and upper management should be embarrassed at the operation they are running. read more

I generally agree with other views about the lack of customer service here. I chose this location for the latest covid booster - because they had the supply. The staff has not been resourced or prepared for the appointments and Would say this is a corporate failure. When i arrived at 6, they still were dealing with 4:30 appts. Their system was down as well so everything was being recorded manually. They still had not gotten to me by 7:00 (which is closing time) announced they had to close and told us all to come back another day. Nota good experience. I have since returned and received the booster, but i would advise folks lower expectations here. read more

Insanely rude behavior for no reason whatsoever. All i asked for was help to an employee named Mohamed to get a ups delivered package and he said "go to self checkout why are you bothering me" as he sat in a chair in the back corner of the store. Outrageous behavior and unsettling attitude. After all that occurred he couldn't even find the package and insisted we come back tomorrow although the package was in the store. He wasn't able to find it yet the second i checked for it I found it with little to no effort. He definitely shouldn't be able to behave this way without any repercussions. Overall this is the worst experience I have ever had at a CVS and heavily advise others to go to other CVS locations within the area. read more

134 Broad Street--you are so expensive (sometimes twice the price on many products than Harris Teeter) that unfortunately, I just must walk out. And , just for the record I am sick and tired of receiving 3 feet of coupons--that I can't use like baby diapers, acne cream, allergy meds--Been there done that! Seems on face you are being so so helpful and generous. Not!! Are you just being so nosy that you are tracking my every move and purchase? Yes! We've been together for so long that it is hard to make the final breakup! Oh, gone are the days when you showed your appreciation and you were happy to see me. Yes, I've gotten used to your rough treatment of waiting and waiting for your attention....must I pay you only to serve myself? Convenient location and this CVS has a large footprint so the store is larger than most. It's kept fairly neat and tidy, and the layout and selection is good. Service here is always polite in my experience but scarce ... often you have to wait quite a while for a cashier (and don't even think of finding someone in the aisles to answer questions). read more

I believe a lot of these reviews are too harsh. The staff at this location works very hard to fill all the prescriptions sent it's way and often has to deal with ornery customer. I have a number of prescriptions they fill each month (or quarter) and they always do so quickly. First day, doctor called in script for antibiotic. An hour later I hadn't heard from CVS so I drove over to check on status, only to find the pharmacy closed for lunch and a line about 12 people deep. They reopened with just two staff, who were running around like maniacs. Finally got to the counter, dealt with a bunch of chaos and was finally told they never received the script, and to call the doctor (or to wait until the next day - which was amazing since I was there for an antibiotic). It was a Saturday so I had to call my doc at home a second time. Called doc, left message, started driving home, and got a call back from doc saying he called in the script again so it should now be ready. Went back and picked it up - about 1.5 hours from first setting foot in the store. In the meantime I had a raging infection in my mouth and was desperate for antibiotics. At least the pharmacist was nice this time. Next day, oral surgeon called in script at time of surgery, around 1pm. I got a text later from CVS saying they needed to follow up with the prescriber. Never got another text. Tried to call at around 3pm and couldn't connect. Called again at 5pm and was rudely put on hold for 30 minutes, during which time I drove the the pharmacy (at one point halfway through the pharmacist picked up, I told her my story the second time, and she put me back on hold again with no explanation). I walked into the store as they were finally answering the call, so I told them I was walking up to the counter -- at which point the pharmacist put me on hold again because one of her colleagues walked over and started talking to her. I sat there watching them chatting and laughing for about 10 more minutes. (This whole time there's a line about 12 people deep and the phone alert system is constantly announcing new calls). Finally she comes to talk to me, and when I tell her about the text I got, she snaps something like, "what does that mean?!" I try to show her the text but she rudely ignores me as she works on the computer in front of me, apparently clearing whatever hurdle was there to put the script through the system. At this point it's about 5:30pm, and she says, "can you come back tomorrow?" I told her I was supposed to start taking the meds immediately, and she says, "well it's going to take an hour, can you wait for an hour?" I say I can come back for it an an hour and she says, "we close at 7. I can't do this today. I'll have it for you in the morning." I walked out in shock. It's now 10am the next morning. I asked a local pharmacy to call to have the script transferred to them this morning. They tried to call CVS but gave up:" "They put you on hold FOREVER." I had to call my doctor and ask them to send a new script to the new pharmacy. This is a business that deserves to fail. read more

If I could give this "pharmacy" less than one star, I would. It is an absolute clown show. I went to the store to pick up an antibiotic and the staff was rude and incompetent. The wacky pharmacist was bouncing around in back asking the staff to smell her violet perfume.... The tech finished my prescription and asked the pharmacist to review. Instead of reviewing, she pointed at me. He gestured a second time for her to review and she refused and told him to bring it to the counter. The clerk at the register was busy bad mouthing other customers with her colleagues and I had to wait for her to finish to ring out. This place is dangerous and devoid of professionalism. DO NOT GO HERE FOR A FLU SHOT! Completely incompetent. Three adults and we were there for an hour. Monica argued one of us didn't have insurance. She argued another had a copay - for a flu shot. Another she put in incorrectly into the system and couldn't figure it out. Long line growing, on a weekday. She gave my insurance card to someone else who tried to figure it out and then literally threw my insurance card across the pharmacy so I had to ask for it back. There are so many places to get a flu shot there is no reason to go here. read more

They told my wife that the doctor's office failed to call in a script. The "second time" it was called in, they did not have it ready and kept stalling. They are Inept, inept, majorly inept. This has been my CVS pharmacy for years but all has changed in the last weeks -- not sure that staff is overwhelmed by covid and flu vaccines along with their regular pharmacy service but CVS management needs to step up and help the staff in this unusual and challenging environment. I tried calling this CVS many times in advance to find out if a new prescription was called in by my physician and filled -- no answer. Made a physical appearance today and noticed they were so busy with their 2-person staff that they were not answering incoming calls which I could hear such calls coming in during my visit at this pharmacist. The pharmacy staff person was curt but I could somewhat understand their position. is there anything that CVS management could so to provide reasonable service to their customers and help their staff. read more

Avoid this pharmacy at all costs. Entirely incompetent. Takes at least 2-3 visits to get medicine. Ridiculous wait times. They turn almost every single person away saying prescriptions aren't ready, and they say that it'll take them 15 mins to fix that. It usually takes an hour. No matter what. Like others here, I strongly recommend avoiding their pharmacy. They gave me someone else's prescription, which I didn't notice until I went home with it. When I called to alert the head pharmacist, she was apologetic but said this happens sometimes. Probably true at some level for all pharmacies, but that kind of response after it just happened doesn't fill me with confidence that they're taking any steps to help reduce their 'sometimes' to 'very, very rarely'. read more

It's convenient but inconvenient at the same time. The location works well, there's always parking, and the store itself would rate three stars for what it is (a CVS). Hard-to-find employees, sometimes long lines at the front, sometimes baffling inventory (for example, eight kinds of iced tea in the refrigerator, but no plain ol' normal-sized Ace bandages). The pharmacy, however, drags it down to nearly one star: * Prescriptions take forever to get filled. * Lines are long. * Pharmacists and pharmacy assistants are often rude (as other reviewers have noted). * They are often out of stock for prescriptions we get filled on a regular basis. (Don't they have a way to track what's getting purchased and refilled, and stock accordingly?) * Pharmacists or assistants in the middle of working on getting a prescription straightened out with my doctor's office or getting insurance cleared up have left in the middle of the task because it's the end of their shift, without telling me or even turning the task over to someone else, leaving me hanging. Alas, for my prescription insurance, CVS is where I need to go, and this is the most geographically convenient location. If I ever find a better one, I'm outta here for good. read more

This is the absolute worst pharmacy on the face of the planet. I have been punishing myself and going to this location for years and every few months they figure out some new and innovative way of completely screwing up my prescription. From being unable to grasp the concept of correctly processing valid insurance information, to the old standby of "oh yeah, we haven't done that yet", going to this location is a miserable experience from beginning to end. The CVS store itself is fine, as is CVS as a whole. I travel a lot for work and have been to numerous other CVS pharmacy locations across the country (as a direct result of this Sangamore location being completely unable to perform the most remedial of tasks) and have never had an issue. I have had to get my prescription filled in other cities multiple times because Sangamore just could not seem to manage the enormous task of performing their job successfully before I was to leave town. I am absolutely convinced that this location has a stern prerequisite of pure and utter incompetence to even be considered for employment. I have finally come to my wits end with them and will be taking my business elsewhere. Avoid at all costs. read more

I agree with all of the harsh reviews and would give it 0 stars if I could. The pharmacy staff is completely incompetent here. They are so remarkably inefficient and rude. We've started taking prescriptions to Safeway or getting them through CVS CareMark online. I've also noticed that the prices here are 3-5 times higher than they are on Amazon for the exact same items. I compared prices of 8 or 9 items on my list, and I was stunned to see how much higher they were at the Sangamore Road CVS. Just awful! Most of the coupons are unusable due to all the fine print/exclusions. I HATE this store. I bought a two-for-one item at the Connecticut Ave CVS, but the store had only one of the items. The manager gave me a "rain check" to get the 2nd item at no charge from the Sangamore store. I brought in the "rain check," and the Sangamore CVS wouldn't honor it. They told me to drive all the way back to the other store in a few weeks when it would be restocked. Worst customer service ever!! read more

The people at this store are helpful and competent. But every now and then they (or the corporate hegemon that rules them) behave as though customers don't count. CVS' web site and the telephone recordings all say that the store closes at 9:00 pm. But, after making elaborate precautions to shop during the pandemic, I arrived at 8:20 PM and found the doors closed and locked. Nice job CVS, I don't think. read more

We have had issues for our daughter's prescriptions 85% of the time and she has a chronic condition where we can't miss or have something wrong. I can't tell you the number of times they have messed up. We are now switching to another CVS after many issues. read more

I've been to CVS's all over the country. This is the worst. By far. There are always people hanging out in back with 10 people in line, they lose doctor's RXes, and even when you call ahead to make sure your prescription will be ready, it isn't done when you get there.
