This is the most incompetent pharmacy in Menlo park, if you have your perscriptions here quick switch them to walgreens downtown Menlo park on Santa Cruz ave. The mgr of this pharmacy has created the most disorganized and ineffective pharmacy around. Persciptions are never ready when promised, excuses always given ... Long lines, slow workers, I have been coming here for 6 years ( when it was longs), the service has been slowly going down the drain. The last straw for me was yesterday when I went in to pick up 3 perscriptions which were promised ready the day before and only one of the three was ready, and one ( crical heart med) was not only not ready but on back order with no due date! That was the last straw.... I transferred all meeds to walgreens on Santa Cruz ave in downtown Menlo park..... Not only did they have them ak Ll ready for me but no lines....mgr at cvs made no effort to fix prob but made sure I knew cvs was the largest pharmacy.... this is an update to my last review 12/9/12. today is 1/31/13 and i am still receiving automated calls! i don't even know what to say at this point. it feels like i'll never get rid of them. it feels like harassment. i cannot even remember how many times i've called them and asked them to removed me from their data base. they are still filling my prescriptions and calling me. the is the most inept business i have ever come across. i switched to a competitor and i'm not happy there either. maybe it's just me. maybe i have bad juju with pharmacies or something. mostly i go by mail now....probably a year ago now and CVS is still filling those prescriptions that were switched a year ago! unbelievable. if you go regularly to this CVS you will be held captive for life like i am. and if you don't happened to get entangled with their automated system, you will still experience frustration filling more than one prescription. the doctor didn't call, the insurance said this or that, it's not ready even though it was supposed to be ready the day before, they don't have enough or they don't have any. good luck. read more

I'm saddened to see some of the negative posts about this CVS, I have always been greeted with such polite staff at this pharmacy. The pharmacy tech, Stephen, was so incredibly friendly, he didn't receive my prescription that was called in via voicemail and was more than accommodating in making sure that I received it (within 5 minutes at that)! He really deserves big praise as he has such a joy about him and brings a great attitude to his work. The pharmacist himself is ALWAYS there and working away so diligently and is always friendly as well. I cannot speak to "peak hour" service but everything in this area gets crazy busy during those times so wait times should be expected. I'm not sure why that's a surprise to some. I think there may be some unrealistic expectations. read more

Worst pharmacy I have ever experienced. Severely understaffed. Staff is extremely incompetent, loose prescriptions, incapable of using their own computer system. Unable to solve even the smallest problem. They will even change prescriptions and prescribing directions requiring my Dr.'s office to call them them to correct them. The pharmacist thinks they know better than your doctor. This place deserves -5 stars. read more

this Sharon Park Drive CVS pharmacy is terrible. Slow. They set expectations and don't deliver as they promise. I have experienced indifferent customer service and a lot of CYA behavior from the pharmacy staff vs. helping a customer solve a problem. I have contacted CVS customer service and am awaiting a reply about a recent terrible situation with the pharmacy. I have asked that my complaint be forwarded to the CVS CEO Larry J. Beware of using the photo processing service at this Longs. I deposited two disposable cameras last Saturday (one per envelope) and went by this evening to pick them up. One envelope had a sticker on it saying "Bag Received Empty". I asked for help; the young counter attendant looked in the bin but didn't find my camera, so I asked to see the manager to see what I could do. He was incredibly rude, accusing me of forgetting to put the camera in the envelope and then telling me he didn't care and that it wasn't his problem. I will not only steer clear of this store for photo processing, but I will not return to it for any reason. I urge all people who care about customer service to do the same. read more

CVS Pharmacy at Sharon Heights is not an easy pharmacy to deal with. I have been a customer of theirs for years, and it is a total hassle. I stay because it is close to my house, Safeway is next door, along with the bank, so location is convenient. Very close to going somewhere else. Reasons: Management is rarely available, and when they are they are not effective in handing customer concerns. When I call orders in, they are often not available when promised. They do not tell you that, so you go in, and wait in a usually long line to be told that they are not ready. Picking them up is a drag because of the long line, and because customers are often upset and arguing with the staff. Staff's job is not easy because they get yelled at a lot, so they are not usually very friendly. They take no responsibility for anything, just shrug and ask if you want to talk to the manager, who is often not there. They put your medications on auto-fill, which might be great for you, but does not work for me. I have consistently requested that they not do this, and I am called every other month, for each of my prescriptions asking if I want to do this. In the opposite months, they just deliver medications I have not ordered, and when I call to ask about it, they say it is because it was autofilled. Arghh!!! There is no accountability. When I try to find out why something happened, the answer is "I don't know. I'll fix it this time. Management is not here. I can have the manager call you." I have left my name a half a dozen times and have never been called by the manager. Many people get prescriptions filled because they are sick, and getting hassled just to get your prescriptions is not something they should have to deal with. Please CVS! DO something! Their pharmacy has been extremely disappointing lately. Long waits even when they have dozens of people behind the counter. They often are out of the prescription or they say that the perscription is not ready, even if it has been a few hours or even a day. Their pharmacy is aggravatingly slow, seriously understaffed and obviously overwhelmed. Given their location next to a retirement community, you would think they'd figure out these people need meds and will fill their prescritpions at Longs. But nobody seems to care. Calling in to check on a prescription will probably take 15 minutes. If you show up and your prescription was sent in during the past 6 hours....well, get ready to wait, wait, and wait some more. I've had long waits here before, but tonight I must give this place commendation. I made it here at 8:35 after rushing over from my doctor's appointment to try and get my prescription before they closed. The strength of the medication was increased and I was told they needed verification from my doctor before insurance would cover it. Either that or I could pay the $175 without insurance fee(it costs $5 with insurance). The pharmacist came over and totally handled things,which he did not have to do, and ten minutes later I'm in my car, prescription in hand, and $170 a college student like me could not stand to lose. Very good experience. My family has been coming here since I was little, and I will keep up the tradition. Excellent customer service! read more

This is the worst pharmacy in the area.We live 1 mile away from the store Every single time we go to fill up our prescriptions there is a problem ,delays,misunderstandings,etc.People on the counter are rude and do not have any customers skills at all.Also ,there is unnecessary waiting time.For not reason they make you wait even if your medicines are available and ready to go.We were happy when the store opened but,unfortunately we are back to Wallgreens over Santa Cruz ave.which is about 4 miles from our house.This seems crazy but they have great customer service and the waiting time is no longer than 10 minutes for your prescriptions.Too bad for longs Drugas Menlo Park,never go back again! read more

Just when you think that the pharmacy has improved, it becomes clear that is not the case. I have been kept on the phone to refill a prescription for the past twenty minutes and am still holding. Twice I have been cut off altogether. When somebody did answer the phone, they put me on hold again. I am still on hold. The pharmacy staff is unhappy and sometimes downright surly. I have been going to this place for twenty years because its location is extremely convenient. However, if I keep using this pharmacy, I fear I will need a medication for high blood pressure. Since CVS took over from Long's the inventory of brands other than CVS' house brand has been significantly reduced. But this is a mild annoyance compared to the chronic chaos in the pharmacy department. read more

Just picked up a prescription. They did not have the drug as prescribed. Quickly called the emergency room doctor that had written it and had my new prescription ready in ten minutes. Pleasant and helpful staff. Felt obligated to share my recent experience. read more

If this pharmacy wasn't the closest I wouldn't have gone there so long. They are about as bad as they come and probably deserves reporting to a government agency. Over that last couple of years they have claimed they have never received my prescription from the doctors office and have given my son's prescription to another customer. Yes, giving away my son's medication (which included a narcotic) to another person. My wife was told to wait a few minutes and it would be available. My wife sat on the side and waited 20 minutes. At that point my wife asked if the medication was ready. Lucky she did, the tech had given it to the previous customer and immediately overhead paged them. The customer was still in the store and came back with the medication. Imagine what could have happened if my wife didn't ask. Today, they again claimed that a prescription didn't go through and said that sometime controlled substances don't come through their efax system because of the upgrades they are going through. After I got angry and told them that they should tell customers this or doctors office so people can avoid wasting their time. She proceeded to tell me that it has been a headache for them too because they have to call the doctors offices. Wow, they waste the patient's time and the doctor's offices time but they are worried about the hassle for them. I will be bringing my business elsewhere and will be trying to figure out if they deserve to be reported to the DEA or some other agency. read more

I have promised myself a half dozen times to write a fantastic review for the pharmacy team here and after another experience today when a pharmacist went above and beyond, I promised myself I would write a review tonight. Ever since CVS took over this pharmacy, the service has been fantastic, prescriptions are always ready when promised and I don't even give a second thought to a wait time. I used to dread the 10 customer, 30-45 minute line but I now come when I am coming to or going from work and don't wait more than 5 minutes. I couldn't be happier. Unfortunately, a lot of the elderly clients that come here are verbally abusive towards the staff here for seemingly ridiculous reasons (they want to return their medication for a refund after picking it up a week ago, they are annoyed the can't use a store coupon for their prescription, annoyed that the drugs cost so much etc) and the staff calmly takes it. Kudos to the pharmacists for going above and beyond to work around our last minute requests and to the pharmacy assistants for putting up with a lot of rude unappreciative customers. read more

This review is specific to the Pharmacy. Inepititude, they name is Longs Drugs. How many times do I have to get burned by these guys before realizing that I just need to go somewhere else to fill my family's prescriptions? It doesn't matter if it's my doctor calling in a new one, or if I'm automatically refilling one via their phone sysem... the amount of human error within the Pharmacy is incredible. The lines are always outrageous and the pharmacists take forever to find the prescriptions. Classic example: my doctor called in a Tamiflu prescription for my entire family on Monday (as we were heading to Mexico on vacation at the end of the week). When I went to pick it up on Thursday morning (after waiting the typical 30 minutes in the drive-thru line!), they only had a single Tamiflu prescription (mine)--but not the one for my wife or son. Nice. They tried to claim it was because our insurance was rejected... but when pressed, admitted they didn't have any Tamiflu left. They are inept, rude, slow, liars and we will NEVER go to this pharmacy again. Walgreens... here we come. read more
