This pharmacy is always backed up more than it should be. They have typically 3 workers max, sometimes the pharmacist isn't even in. These people at the pharmacy have one of the worst jobs a person can have. Constantly stressed, they are always yelled at, definitely under-appreciated and overworked, around illness all day. Stephanie, Janine, Nick, Deonte?, and many others really try to help out how they can. I've had some rough times with some other people that work there, but after seeing and hearing what they go through everyday, I have much more patience and understanding. I encourage others to work with them and try to make their day a little better. Reality is, CVS is a horrible corporation that uses and abuses their workers until they quit, commit suicide, or just stop caring. Interestingly, this CVS has two operations which function totally different. It's hard to believe these could operate so differently under one roof. Overall average 3-stars. Pharmacy - As other Yelpers have pointed out, Albert is the shining star who enthusiastically welcomes pharmacy customers. Albert is courteous, professional and makes everyone feel special. 4-stars! This is one of those stores I only go to when I absolutely have to. Contact lens solution, shaving cream, deodorant, razor blades and cheap vodka in large plastic bottles is what I buy here. (Just kidding about the last one, I'm a premium IPA man). What can I say? Huge store, huge parking lot, huge selection of things I would not dream of buying. I'm always amazed that stores like this can keep such a large inventory of things that must sell very, very, slowly. I mean who goes to CVS to buy clothes, home decorations, lamps, toys or wine? Someone does I guess. Maybe it's the secret mole people of San Carlos who shop there while I'm safely asleep in the Bat Cave. Anyway, when I go there it's in and out as fast as I can. I don't want to dwell on the connotations and possibilities too much. There are some positive things I'd like to mention. They have seasonal displays which I find amusing at Halloween, Christmas, etc. They give you coupons for stuff you may buy some day. Writing this because they FINALLY began cleaning up the store: new carpets, y'all! This took my rating from 2 to 4 stars. I mean, really, who wants to purchase pharmaceuticals, health and beauty aids from a filthy store? I am hoping the cleanup continues as this is the most convenient pharmacy for me. As for staff: they definitely deserve the 4 stars, especially those working in the pharmacy. They get a lot of abusive attitudes and behavior, always seem overworked handling at least 3 customers at once (including phone calls), and yet have always been both helpful and courteous. I'm updating this review because I have been having AMAZING service here for the last few years, after initially being unhappy with it. The pharmacy staff here is great! Albert is wonderful, and there is an amazing pharmacist there that goes the extra mile for us. Friendly CVS. While in here I witnessed many good things so I figure it's worth a yelp praise. The main thing I liked was the pharmacist noticed a woman looking around a little lost going up and down aisles, so she asked if she needed some help. I know this isn't a big deal but for a pharmacist behind the counter to make an effort to reach out to someone about other store products and in which they didn't have to, but I give kudos. I shop there all if the time. They have a self check out. I have tried it twice and each time it messed up. However, the staff are pushing patrons to use the machines instead of waiting for the cashier. It should be the customers choice, not the clerks. One clerk was going to assist me at the register until another clerk insisted that she have me use the self check out. read more

Best CVS around, the store is clean, everything I need is always in stock, the staff are awesome! They put up with my coupon shenanigans, lol never have to much of a problem with long lines. The pharmacy, awesome staff Janeane and Albert are the best! I never really have to wait to long for items to be filled. Mondays and Fridays are supper busy...Monday BC people are picking up stuff they didn't get before the weekend and Friday people are picking stuff up before the weekend, only days you really have "long" lines. read more

And it's a real bummer it is so close to home but they text me a prescription is ready but when I get there it is only partly ready and I have to keep waiting. Lady trip I spent 30 picking pictures to print. Started printing and the printer broke. They did not refund my money they said I could sit down and try again. I explained I did not have time. All they did was write I am owed free pictures. I don't want to sit there again. They should have refunded my money. I did not get my pictures and I wasted my time. CVS Pharmacy you are a life saver. When I have been partying all night and need a quick fix-- you are there. When I am fighting the "bottle" flu-- you are there. When I need a pregnancy test because of lack of responsibility-- you are there. When I need a soda to go with my greasy hang over food-- you are there. You are just up the street-- no car needed to get to you-- your workers are a little slow... but that is my only complaint. They don't have the best selection, but they do have great deals on booze and $4 dollar off coupons on $20 dollar or more purchases if you're a repeat customer. I called into CVS to verify that my prescription had been received, which I was informed that it was. Then the lady asked me when I wanted to come in to pick up my prescription. I told her a half hour, then she said an hour would be better for them. Assuming that the prescription would be ready later, I went with my sister to her gymnastics session and then to CVS an hour and forty five minutes later. I waited in a 15 minute line where they only have one assistant helping customers get their prescriptions. When I reached the front, I was informed that my prescription was not ready and it would be another 15 minute wait. I asked if I could pay in advance -- I couldn't, so now I would have to wait in line all over again. I wait the 15 minutes and then the pharmacist calls me over. She tells me that she can't "release" my antibiotic because the doctor wrote that it was 1 pill every day, while the instructions called for 2 pills on the first day. I suggest that maybe the doctor made a mistake, and asked her to give me the proper instructions to take the antibiotic. She continues to give me a hard time. I ask her what I'm supposed to do, because it's 5:30 on a Friday and the doctor is closed. She says she can call the on call operator they have, and try to page the doctor. I wait a few minutes, and then find her again. She still hasn't reached the doctor. I'm given the impression that there is no set time on this...it could take all night. I leave CVS angry and frustrated that I wasn't able to get my medication for my stuffy nose and cough that's in my lungs that I've had for a week now. Of course, literally AS SOON as I walk in the door it's CVS telling me it's ready. It takes me another 20 minutes to go back and get it. CVS wasted an hour of my life with pointless bullshit that never should have happened. I gave them PLENTY of time (over the hour they asked for) to fill my prescription. Had this been done BEFORE I arrived, the pharmacist could have already called the doctor and verified the dosage for my stupid antibiotic, saving me from an hour of hassle and frustration. How many times do you have to call these people and "check" on things? Is it so hard to fill prescriptions --dare I say-- do your job? The pharmacist I ran into happened to be a younger woman of Asian descent. I'm still really mad a day later about this experience, and I don't think that I'll ever get medication from this CVS again. read more

I have lived in the neighborhood for years and there has never been a time when the check-out lie wasn't a mile long. Last night was o exception. The line extended beyond the counter all the way down one aisle and it was moving slowwwwwwwwwww. There was only one clerk to handle approximately 20 people. When I finally got to the head of the line I commented to the clerk that she really could use some help. She agreed but lamented that there's no point complaining because nothing changes here. The pharmacy isnt any better.After waiting 20 minutes in a line to get a shingles shot, when I finally got to the window I was abruptly informed that the tech who does the shots was going on lunch. I have a longstanding problem printing my digital pictures at those drug store kiosks. Something ALWAYS goes wrong. Well, since my last interesting experience at the Walgreens on Navajo (see my review about that fun incident!), I decided to check out CVS today. Sometimes good things just happen! After a small problem (the machine told me my USB stick was blank - I took it out and reinserted it - all was well), I had printed out my pictures in less than 10 minutes (a record for me!) and I walked out of there a happy girl! I think this may be my first one star review. Sorry CVS but I just gotta do it. I take high blood pressure medicine and I usually fill it at Costco. My "good" health insurance limits me to one month's supply and by the time I pay the monthly copay for three months it is cheaper to pay cash for a three month supply-figure that one out. Well, Costco Pharmacy can be a pain to deal with and CVS is in the neighborhood so I thought I'd give them the business. Now my blood pressure medicine comes in generic and costs about $10 for 100 pills at Costco-not bad, right. Well, I called the prescription in to CVS and the pharmacist said they were kind of backed up. No problem. I had stuff to do anyway. I went there an hour later and walked up to the counter. There was nobody in line but the staff looked busy. I inquired about my prescription and Albert (nice as he can be) had no clue it was ever called in. I gave him the information again and puttered about the store for a bit then went back to the counter where there was now a line 15 people long. While waiting in line, I noticed they had a "clinic" that for $102 would tell you whether you had a cold or the flu. What the #$%@! I don't get paid that for seeing patients. They would take your stitches out for $65 too-something I don't get paid anything to do. What a rip off! Well, after staring at their bloated "clinic" fee schedule for 45 minutes it was my turn to pick up my medicine. I expected to pay more than I did at Costco but when he told me it would cost $77.50 I was in shock. I checked to make sure they were giving me the generic and they were. That's highway robbery. $10 at Costco vs $77.50 at CVS. And they don't even have to bill my insurance because I'm paying cash. If they had told me it cost $20 or $30 I'd have been OK but 7 times more? Plus, I send them business-not that that should matter. When I got home and told my wife, she was even more incensed. She called them up to ask for an explanation and was told that if I bought a "membership" for $56, then I could get a 90 day supply for $10-another attempt to extort money from the public. In the end, I got my prescription filled at a mom and pop pharmacy on the ground floor of my wife's office building for $8.50 for 100 pills and I didn't get any special favors with that price. I have to assume that since the third pharmacy is even less expensive than Costco Pharmacy this is not simply another case of Costco underbidding the competition but that CVS is gouging its cash paying customers so BUYER BE WARE! read more

THE SHORT: HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. LONGER VERSION: My family and I have come here over the years since it's right down the street from us. I feel like the customer-care quality and overall courtesy/politeness level (mainly from the pharmacy) has drastically gone down. On one visit, I had the option of waiting for about an hour for my prescription to be filled but I didn't have time so I asked if it could be ready by 11 am the next day. The pharm tech told me it was fine and would be ready by then. The next day I had other errands to run and made this one my last stop before going home. I arrived there around 12:30 and my prescription still wasn't filled. Not only was is not filled, the stupid pharmacist was just standing there not even doing anything. By anything, I literally mean that. She wasn't on the phone, she wasn't looking at the prescriptions, she wasnt on the computer, helping someone else etc. SHE WAS DOING NOTHING. On another occasion, I was getting sick and needed theraflu. I couldn't find it, and went to the pharmacist, AND YET AGAIN I saw that she wasn't doing anything so asked her for some help. She literally looked at my like I didn't even try to look for the item. She told me they only had the generic CVS brand, and when I tried to ask a question about it, she just brushed me off and walked away. HELLO I DON'T WANT THE NIGHTTIME ONE! I needed to study so I can't be falling asleep!!!!!! SO RUDE. OH I DID have ONE good experience, with one lady from the pharmacy. My mother's diabetes test strips were expired and she helped me with figuring out the test strip ordeal, and just finding a cheaper kit to last for a bit. Anyway, the other staff members are a little nicer, although the older ones seem to hate their lives and aren't very nice. I even try to be polite and say hi how are you, smile and all that stuff. NOTHING. The younger people are nicer though! This place isn't horrible, if you don't need help, don't need questions answered, or your prescription filled in a timely manner. Also, they seem to have so much random stuff out of stock! Oh and sometimes they only have one cashier even though the line is really long; I guess maybe that's why some workers are so unhappy? If you want candy, they sure seem to have that in stock, but not so much on the medicine. read more

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears; I come not to bury CVS, but to praise Albert. After reading some of the negative reviews below about this place, I can sympathize with those frustrated customers who suffer through the bad service. I've been there and feel your pain. It's true there is good and bad in almost every place that we visit. I will say that CVS does have some wine deals with really good prices if you can buy 6 at a time. What really prompted me to write this review is the attitude, service and caring nature of Albert behind the pharmacy counter. Others below have praised him, and that doesn't surprise me. He stands out from the crowd. God bless Albert and others like him in this world. He makes the boring old trip to the pharmacy a real breath of fresh air. Now I know why people write run of the mill 3 star reviews. It's for the overall 1 or 2 star daily lousy service countered against the 5 star Albert in the pharmacy. This location could possibly get a 4 or 5 star vote from me if they'd fire all of their store employees and hire a new crew who don't act like they hate their job. The store itself is fine, always well stocked, they've got great deals on holiday candy after the holiday has passed, the pharmacy is good (those employees I don't have a problem with), prices are meh unless its on sale, and the store is usually clean. So I got busy with life and came in after a week thinking well, it should be ready. They brought out 2 of the 4 meds I asked for. After they dug and dug wondering where the other 2 went they said , "oh ya, youre insurance wouldn't cover it." Now why in the world wouldnt you call someone to tell them this after a week! If I had treated customers with the disrespect I received at this establishment, I would have lost my job instantly!
