I went in to the Tahoe City CVS Pharmacy to get flu shots for my two daughters and myself, for which I had made appointments for online. I was told by the Pharmacist Assistant that they don't honor the online appointments because the national service doesn't know the local lunch and break times. She told me we would have to come back in an hour and would also have to fill out all the information again because they don't get the downloads from online either. There was no apology on her part and she was quite flippant about the whole thing. I said I was quite disappointed in the customer service and would like to speak to a manager. A man beside me said, "ok, that's me." I repeated the situation to him and told him how disappointed I was. He then said, "Well the store is just fine and that issue is the pharmacy. It is because National has rolled out this program." I then told him that I didn't think the way to handle this was to push this off to the pharmacy. I said he was the manager of the store and the face of CVS to me. This manager then turned on his heel and walked away from me and to the back of the store. I followed him and asked him incredulously "Is that the way, you as the manager are going to handle this? You are just going to walk away?" He said, "I don't have anything else to say to you." I then asked for his name which he gave me as Anthony Vieira. I told him I was going to report his lack of customer service to corporate and his only response was "You have a good time with that." I can tell you we will not only NOT be getting our flu shots at this CVS, we will not be getting anymore of our prescriptions filled there nor doing any further shopping. Anthony Vieira is a terrible manager with terrible customer service. Based on the other reviews on this store, I would say this is not a one-off incident and corporate CVS should probably take note. read more

I would give zero stars if it were possible. This pharmacy is horribly understaffed. The pharmacy techs are pleasant and helpful, but only having one person behind the counter limits their effectiveness, and usually results in long wait times. The last pharmacist I encountered had the bedside manner of a banana slug, and made me feel like he didn't really care about his job. This store has seen several complete turnovers of staff in the last few years, and I can't help but think that there must be a bureaucrat somewhere preventing the store from adding techs. If I could, I would go someplace else, but they're the only pharmacy I can get to reliably in the winter. Sigh. read more

The poor reviews for this CVS Pharmacy are accurate. Daniel Link, the pharmacist, is rude, incompetent, and unprofessional. His demeanor is similar to an undisciplined 12 year old. Daniel Link is not qualified to work at McDonalds, let alone run a pharmacy. I am a resident of Tahoe City and it's common knowledge in Tahoe that Daniel Link is a POS. I have contacted CVS corporate about this cancer and they don't seem to care. They apologized and said they would look into the problem. They did nothing. Until this CVS is fixed, I recommend going elsewhere. It's too bad CVS doesn't care about the subhuman known as Daniel Link, because it's a convenient location. read more

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience at this CVS pharmacy. I'm currently 6 months pregnant & wanted to confirm with the pharmacist that it would be okay to take Sudafed as I'm experiencing a bad sinus infection while in Tahoe. Long story short the male pharmacist was cold, rude, & never gave me an answer as to what medication would be safe to take. I know it's hard times right now but a smile or a kind tone goes a long way. Won't be back to this CVS location. read more

Not sure where the pharmacy employees are from, but it's clear they are not from this community. They are rude, not helpful and appear to hate their job! I have complained to the store manager who I can see would do nothing about it. Therefore, I have taken it upon myself to write to CVS's corporate headquarters in addition to writing this review. Notice how all the bad reviews come from people from out of town. Why can't these people get their prescriptions in their own town? Tahoe is overcrowded with tourist and low on locals due to a housing crisis. Every business including CVS is short on employees. Give these people a break and get your drugs in your home town. I wish to say how supportive and accommodating they are to out-of-towners. Twice they have helped me in emergency situations of needing a prescription expedited that was from a CVS in the Bay Area. The pharmacy team was so nice in person as well as on the phone. read more

Compelled to write a review after 3 separate occasions now, all months apart, of interacting with this pharmacy and store. Everyone who works here is rude, all of the time. It's so disappointing when you're trying to get a prescription for your sick baby and the woman on the phone or pharmacist behind the counter are both rude to you. I understand the job can be stressful but there should also be reciprocal understanding that someone there for a prescription - especially for a baby or child - is also stressed as their health is on the line. Absolutely no need to treat your customers like idiots, or rush them when they're just trying to understand when they can get their sick child medicine, or act shocked that they don't understand why "because it's our policy to wait 24 hours" is the attitude instead of "let's see what we can do to help get you and your family the medicine required to heal". I Had the greatest experience I have ever had with your customer service. I was at Tahoe and experienced what I know was the beginning of a uti and did not have the right medication. I am a Kaiser patient in Roseville Ca. I called Kaiser and talked to a doctor about this and he informed me that all the Kaiser pharmacies are closed due to the fires in California but that CVS was filling Kaiser prescriptions. My prescription had gone to a Pharmacy in Lincoln . I gave CVS the phone number where it was and CVS called them had the prescription sent to them filled within an hour ready for me to pick up. Should be zero stars. We are visiting and needed a prescription refilled. We called three times, let the phone ring at least 20 times each time but the call was never answered, and once got a hang up. The ID on my phone comes up as Long Drugs which CVS bought years ago. Being frustrated we called Rite Aide in Kings Beach, their pharmacy department answered on the first ring....filled the prescription promptly and were very pleasant as well. Kings Beach is out of the way but after reading CVS reviews and the fact CVS doesn't answer their phone Rite Aide wins our business, hands down. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Daniel was very rude and condescending. I was having an anxiety attack and my dr. Called in a prescription for me at South Lake Tahoe. We were trying to get the prescription transferred to CVS. Daniel kept saying 'that's a problem'. First he said that because I had Kaiser then because of the medication my dr. Called in. Not the person you would like to deal with when you're having anxiety. So my advice nurse finally called in a new prescription at CVS. Daniel was very unfriendly. He asked me to sign to waive a consultation. I've never taken these meds before and he didn't even offer me a consultation. Never go there again no matter how sick I am!!! read more

This pharmacy is a bad joke. After moving here and having my prescriptions transferred to this location, I have had nothing but problems. I started getting text messages that I had prescriptions ready in other locations and states that I have never even been to. I have tried to call this place over 10 times, only to sit on hold for over an hour before giving up because NOBODY answers the phone. I finally went there today after getting a text that I had three scripts ready for pick up and when I got there, they said they didn't have any for me. When I told them about the texts I am getting from CVS from other states about my prescription ready for pick up, they told me to call the 800 number! Really??? Like I need to spend another 10 hours on the phone trying to figure out their mess??? I also asked them if they could please fill the scripts that I drove all the way down here for while I wait because their text said it was ready and they told me no, that they would try to have it filled by 3pm. It's 11am! Now I have to come back down here which isn't close for me. It's unacceptable! I don't blame the staff that was there or the pharmacist but who ever the store manager is at this location should be fired! I have never had such a poor experience at a CVS. This review really is for zero stars. If you want rudeness and incompetence then CVS Tahoe City is for you. I placed my RX refill order via the CVS website. The next day the pharmacist leaves a message telling me that they don't have in stock the RX I am looking for, and if I would like him to place an order to bring it in, I would need to call him back and that it would take 3-4 days. I happened to be near the store the next day, so instead of calling I go in person to let the pharmacist know that I would indeed like him to place the order. I was made to feel as if I was putting him out. The pharmacist receptionist then proceeds to set up an account for me. The very next day I pop into CVS with a friend who is picking up her RX, so just for kicks , I check to see if possibly they have my RX ready. The same pharmacy receptionist looks up the order and tells me I have no orders on file! And then the pharmacist comes over and begins to chastise me for never calling him back. I then remind him that I came in PERSON and spoke with him. He does not acknowledge anything and just says "it's a really busy time for them and if he is to put the order in, it will take another 3-4 days and do I still want it?" OMG. Unbelievable. My friend proceeds to pick up her prescription which took 2 different phone call and one precious pick up attempt to get it filled. As we leave the store, she opens her bag that was stapled shut, only to find that is is the WRONG medication!!!! read more

Worst experience ever. I know to many it may not be a big deal but to us it is. Our beloved old Yorker got sick on our Christmas vacation, which means two very sad kids. Being a veterinarian tech I called my boss and he called in a prescription for our pup. Our meds were called in at 9am. I then called the pharmacy to confirm. The male pharmacist was rude and dismissive the min I called Dan is his name. I get she's a dog and to some she doesn't matter but to us she does. No vets were open in the area and our 3lb girl was so critically ill. Praise the Lord I know how to treat her with the right meds. Dan said he was so busy but to come by by 3. So I did. Only to find it's not ready and his response was sorry I'm busy and humans come first, which I agree but it isn't hard to count pills :( and if u are busy that is not a proper response nor is it kind. read more

During the summer when the population of our little "city" triples or even quadruples, this place can get crazy. I feel sorry for the employees that get yelled and cursed at-yes I heard one man swearing at the pharmacist because HE forgot his prescription at home! And when I made a complaint about him to the store manager, he didn't apologize or give me any indication that he would speak to that man. The people at this pharmacy don't really want to help. I had a Rx called in here because it was the closest to my camp ground. All in one breath the woman asked for my insurance and said they may not carry the med I needed. I said before going into my insurance info why not see if you have the med. They didn't. She offered to give me the numbers of other pharmacies. I was annoyed to say the least. Then I said since the CVS has my Rx shouldn't they find the med for me. She called one other pharmacy who also didn't have the med then again offered me phone numbers so I could call myself. No such thing as customer service here. So I looked in my phone map app and the first pharmacy I called had the med. Maybe luck but CVS's disinterest in helping me was pretty apparent! I came to pick up my prescription not only couldn't they find it after 3 calls to their pharmacy but they were not interested in helping me at all. As a matter of fact the girl at the cash register told me to go ring up my waters at the front cashier and would not ring me out. On July 3 2018 I arrived in Tahoe City, My home for the Last 48 years, from Reno Nv.( second Home) and forgot my Insulin NPH and Insulin R at my Reno location. I normally get my RX's at Walmart in Reno for the last 17 years. Walmart charges me $24.00 I went to CVS Pharmacy in Tahoe City to Purchase replacement Insulin and was shocked to find out incredible rudeness and was overcharged $196.00 for one vile of Insulin NPH and they did not have any Insulin R. This is not acceptable. I am so irritated about this that unless I can get some satisfaction from you I will post this letter on Facebook, twitter, local newspaper letter to editors, and T.V. advocate programs, and anyone else who will listen. Were it possible for me to give them 0 stars, I would. There are so many problems with this pharmacy I don't know where to begin. They have a constant stream of new employees in the pharmacy which means there is no order consistency. Drugs don't get ordered and so when customers come in to get their meds, they aren't there to fill them. I was told that 3 pharmacists quit in one week! When I went in the other day, they had 3 people there. Non worked from that store. One drove in from Sacramento just to cover the job! If there is no pharmacist, they can't accept drugs and so nothing gets stocked. Customers routinely have to wait an hour to just pick up their drugs. Prescriptions are either not ready or are incomplete. Your doctor gives you 10 pills but they only have 8 so CVS gives you an IOU for 2 pills. Thing is, when you come back to get those 2 pills in 4 or 5 days they don't have them. Everyone there is frazzled because patients are angry. I was told that they are 3 DAYS BEHIND IN FILLING PRESCRIPTIONS! THREE DAYS. When I went in to get my prescription, I waited 45 minutes to get only a partial oder filled. The people in line behind me were told to home and come back the next day. It's incredible. So, why do people go there? It is literally the only drug store in town. Literally. You would have to drive to Truckee or South Lake Tahoe to find another pharmacy. I cannot figure out why there is such a turnover of pharmacists and staff. Surely CVS corporate has to have an inkling as to the utter disaster this drug store is. Who is managing this store? This has been going on for yeara. Years but nothing is done. This is not a mere issue of convenience. The community relies on this pharmacy. CVS apparently doesn't care. Their apathy borders on criminal. read more

Some Google reviews have trashed this store but the pharmacy was incredibly helpful to me. I had an expired prescription from San Francisco that I needed refilled. They called my local pharmacy and renewed it. THEN... it took the pharmacy assistant about 35 minutes to call my prescription service and get help with their website so he could put it through. All the while answering the phone for the pharmacy and looking up Rx's for people on the phone as well. He was awesome and now I have my much needed Rx. Thanks CVS pharmacist assistant. So I come in this pharmacy every so often because I have family that lives down the street.. I've never really had problems with them until yesterday. As my boyfriend and our friend went to check out, the cashier looked at my friend who happens to be African American and says "you know you have to pay for that, you're reluctant for paying for that" which shocked us all a bit. After that, i gave her my phone number for the cvs card and she complained that I talked too fast so I slowed down and she gave me a dirty look and told me not to talk so slow. She was just completely rude and racist and I am never going back. read more

I had to use this pharmacy because it was the only one left in Tahoe City. I was called several times by the pharmacy to tell me my prescription was ready, drove to the pharmacy only to find out the prescription wasn't really ready and I would have to wait. After the way I was treated on my last visit, I will never use them again. I recently had a major joint replacement and, once again, I was told that my prescription was ready. I arranged a ride and with much difficulty in the pouring rain, used my crutches to enter the store. Of course, my prescription wasn't ready. I presented the Pharmacist with a new prescription for my pain medication and the Pharmacist took it away from me and treated me like I was a criminal. CVS conscientiously deprived me for over 24 hours of my pain medication. Then, 24 hours later, I was told it really was a good prescription and it was filled. When I got to the pharmacy, the prescription wasn't filled. I complained to corporate but I have not yet received a reply, I doubt I ever will. I have moved all of my prescriptions to Safeway in Kings Beach, at least they are able to fill their prescriptions in a timely manner and in a customer service oriented way, read more

I agree with these other two reviews. These guys are bad! Rude and not helpful at all! They talk to you the first time as if you've been bugging them none stop for hours. The youngest pharmacist, seemed to have taken pleasure on telling me she couldn't fill my prescription and that I had to go to incline. I had just came out of a 10 day stay in a hospital, no one informed me, I couldn't fill a NV pain med prescription in CA. She sure did with a huge smile on her face. Today CVS mail order, which had delayed a prescription refill until it ran out, referred me to this CVS store to get an immediate refill at mail order rates. I called the store to place the order and after hearing an irrelevant long spiel from Melissa about flu shots, I was put on hold for seven and a half minutes. When she came back, I asked why I was put on hold for so long. She said she was the only person there because everyone else was at lunch at 2:15 PM. Then she told me she was going to put me on hold again. Not helpful or nice business practice. I found abysmal ratings for this store. I told CVS HQ and will tell family and friends to stay away. Like others, wondered why CVS management did not fix the problems with this store and why they are in business at all, if they do not want to provide effective polite customer service. There are certainly other pharmacies. Robots could do a better job. read more
