So when I spied the rather nice looking Meze I made a bee line for it. It's quite a swanky looking eatery, especially in the area it's in and inside it didn't disappoint either. The waiters were pleasant and efficient and it all looked promising. That promise was maintained throughout the evening. The food is Turkish and Greek and a cuisine I've not really sampled too often. I wish I had though if this is any standard to measure by. Really tasty starters and fresh, well cooked mains. The kebabs and Turkish rice was simply delicious. There's banquets to share and a good range of dishes, all of which look good enough on the menu to take a hopeful punt on. In fairness, they ARE all worth taking a punt on! The bar is as well stocked as any restaurant bar and the wine list is... well... I'm not a wine expert so I wouldn't know. From the look of it, it seems good enough unless you're Oz Clark. The staff are all pleasant and clued up and, on certain nights, they have traditional Greek music and, well, let me just say that, if you're after a quiet romantic night in, avoid this one (ring ahead to find out when it is as I can't remember) as it can get a bit loud. We didn't have to wait long for our food, both starters and main. Plus we all agreed it was delicious. My main came with rice and a cold salad which I wasn't sure to start with but I didn't dwell and it went down a treat. I could've eaten a dessert but was disappointed with the choice. To be fair, the waitress said it out to us and as the place was busy all I heard was cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake. From that point I wasn't interested as I'm not keen on either. My mates ordered a cheesecake to share and they said it was one of the nicest cheesecakes they'd had. I thought prices for the food were reasonable as it was delicious.
