WATCH OUT !
THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES AND LIARS, THEY PREY ON TRAVELLERS WITHOUT RESERVATION.
This was the worst experience of my trip to Italy. We (my mother and I) got at Ca' San Giorgio on 9/12/2013 referred from another hotel in Venice "Al Duca di Venezia" as my reservation with them got dropped - another subject to touch later on my review about them.
Al Duca di Venezia contacted Ca' San Giorgio on my behalf checking for availability. They requested my credit card number over the phone in order to hold the reservation. When we checked in the concierge Giacomo asked for my credit card to swipe printing out the receipt and asking for my signature. We decided then it would be better to pay in cash and even ask him directions to the nearest bank. After we got back from the bank and hand it over the money he gave me a copy of the electronic receipt and wrote a hand written receipt for cash payment plus tourist city tax. He stated to me adamantly not to worry as the credit card payment would be posted as debit and then later as credit on my account - he did not give me another electronic receipt reversing the transaction. This kind of through me off but I decided to not create a problem as it's practically impossible to find a place to sleep in Venice at the last minute, not to mention I was travelling with an elderly person.
To date there has been no credit back from those people. I have contacted Silvia(apparently is the manager at Ca' San Giorgio) several times through email to find out Giacomo told her a completely different story. She also had the audacity to state that the receipt apparently issued by her co-worker did not match his hand writing implying that I falsified it. When I confronted her how could that be if had the hotel's stamp on it, she changed her story alleging that what I have in my hands is actually an invoice for tax purpose and not a cash payment receipt.
I have filled for fraudulent practice with Visa and my bank. read more
