The policía municipal are corrupt! We were walking on sidewalk with a beer in hand. The police pulled over and stopped us. They said we could pay them 318$ and let us go or they would take us to jail where we would be booked, pay 600$, and spend 36 hours in jail, and be reported to the consulate. They said neither they or the jail took credit cards and we didn't have that much cash.....they then said we could pay them 150$ and they would charge us for littering instead. So we poured the beer out (2 cans) and crushed the cans. We threw them away in the nearest trash can. We were not intoxicated! Nor did we litter!
