Great photo op spot for the Porto sign.
Câmara Municipal do Porto is the impressive Porto City Hall overlooking the Avenida dos Aliados main boulevard. It features an imposing clock tower with ringing bells. While you cannot access inside due to political use, this neoclassical monument building still attracts many tourists to line up for photo ops.
The building was completed in 1955 and directly underneath it is a bronze sculpture of Portugal's preeminent Romantic writer & politician Almeida Garrett. There is a good vantage of both the city hall and the Monument of Dom Pedro IV (founder of independent Brazil) at Liberdade Square despite it being cordoned for reconstruction.
Skip it or hit it? If you're in the area, come for a photo op like the other tourists. read more
