It is located in Northeastern France in the historical region of Alsace. And since Germany is next door why not take the train and hop on Germany side too! We explored: Strasbourg Cathedral - also called the Cathédrale Notre-Dame but when I hear Notre-Dame I automatically think the one in Paris. They allow a certain amount of visitors to enter the cathedral at a time and I was able to get in as the last person before they closed it for mass. Inside is indeed beautiful and impressive, an outstanding masterpiece of Gothic art. La Petite France - "Little France" I loved this historic district with its romantic canals, half-timbered houses and cobbled streets. La Petite France is in the southwest corner of Strasbourg's old town area and is a short walk away from Ponts Couverts de Strasbourg and Barrage Vauban. It's impossible to visit Strasbourg without falling under the spell of Petite France. Ponts Couverts - translates to "Covered Bridges." Before making our way towards the entry to Petite France is a set of three bridges and four towers that make up a defensive structure to protect Strasbourg from invaders back in the 13th century. This is among the most iconic and picturesque landmarks in France's Alsace region. Barrage Vauban - There is an internal corridor running the length of the structure and you can go up to the roof to see the towers of the Ponts Couverts and the cathedral but, unfortunately, during our visit it was under construction and was closed off to the public. Did not know much about these markets but my wife knew all about them. It lives up to the hype. There are many Christmas Markets spread out within walking distance. Massive Christmas lights and decorations on businesses and the streets. Great food and great prices. Discovered poulet et champignons (chicken in mushrooms cream sauce) and some sort of shank over steamed potatoes and they pour meat juice over it, these dishes just heaven. They have mom and pop food booths, but most are brick and mortar restaurants serving their specialties in very large cabin style pop ups. Hot chocolate is so good here. Hot wine is very popular, probably because it is 40 degrees. This was my first Christmas Market experience, and it was very memorable. If you travel, this is a must do in your lifetime. Have not been this excited about Christmas since I was a child.

Great produce at good prices and a wide collection of wines and other beverages, it is a fun shop.
