I had an appointment with a nurse for a shot, checked in online, and checked in again when I arrived. The receptionist told me to take a seat. After a half hour of waiting, I checked with the receptionist. She told me that one nurse didn't come to work and, after some discussion, she suggested that I reschedule for another day. What upset me most as a senior was that no one in reception had the courtesy or caring to tell me that no one could see me. If I hadn't checked with the clerk again, I might have waited for hours with no service. Making this worse was that I had driven 50 miles for the appointment. This very poor peri-medical service, especially for a senior.

My father has cancer, severe liver disease, and takes medication that suppresses his immune system, so our family was eager to get a covid test quickly. My mother speaks slowly, and her English takes patience to understand. I fully acknowledge that it's not as easy to understand as fluent English. But the front desk staff was: 1) impatient and talked over my mother when she tried to ask questions 3) seemed dismissive about my mother's concerns that she might have Covid-19 4) was unclear about next steps 5) demonstrated no sense of compassion for a sick elderly woman 6) Lacked competence to communicate with a non-native English speaker Thankfully my sister was present and took over the phone call so that my mother could schedule a Covid-19 test. Our siblings and their partners work in healthcare as therapists and doctors both in Whatcom County and other areas of the country. We know from experience that health clinics can communicate compassionately and competently with ALL of their patients if their staff is properly trained. My mother was not treated with compassion or competence by Center for Senior Health. If they make improvements, I will update this review. * We appreciate Dr. Naori Yamashiro as an excellent and respectful physician for my mother. Hopefully the remainder of the staff can catch up.

He brought my husband and I through our pregnancy, and is now my babies doctor as well. I have not regretted a single visit in the many years that he has been my doctor. Today, I was scheduled for a 2:50 appt, they took be back around 3:05, and I was still sitting in the exam room waiting for a physician at 3:50. This is completely unacceptable. I understand that physicians get behind for a myriad of reasons, but if they are running late, the office should give you a call and let you know so you have the option to reschedule. This is not a unique circumstance, although it is the longest. I have been made to wait for inordinately long periods of time many times over the years. No longer. I do not recommend NSFM. It seems as though they are more focused on patient volume than patient satisfaction.

It was pretty complicated so I asked if if I could sit down & decipher it. She said "No. You can`t walk off with it". So I started to read it & she said "Just sign it". In a loud voice she turned around to exclaim to her fellow receptionist, "He wants me to copy it!" & her workmate said "Well if that`s what he wants ...". I was embarrassed as a line was forming behind me and instead of making a copy, she said "Follow me". She walked me into an examination room, shut the door & said "Sit down". She handed me the paper which had 3 options and for me to check one. I had a couple questions on the wording & she answered "Oh I don`t know just sign it". I don`t sign anything without first understanding what it says so as I`m reading it again she starts to LOUDLY hum a song! I didn`t want to make a scene so I didn`t say anything until I got to the 3rd option which was "I don`t want the service listed above" and I checked that box, walked out & will never go back. The monthly quote was $20 less a month from what I was already paying, for the same auto insurance coverage. Instead of purchasing the insurance online I decided to stop by the local office which was near my home. The team there was friendly, helpful and curteous. They also told me they were glad I came in because there were more savings and discounts that they could help me find to get the best deal for my coverage. I am happy and have changed my mind on how it is I buy my insurance, and with who. I now will know who I'm speaking to when I call, it will be Richard, Judy or Shannon, and they too know who I am.
