I came here for a pick-me-up, and I kind of wish I didn't. Not because the bingsu isn't good, because it is. Fruit ones are absolutely delicious and wonderful. They even have smalls now, so there are more options for everyone (yay)! Unfortunately, my experience with the service has not been the best. I asked a couple of questions to about the menu items and about sides we can order. There is no menu detailing what comes on the side or sides you can order, so you kind of have to ask (they changed it, so unsweetened mochi is no longer around, etc). Though I apologized for asking questions, it seemed like I was bothering the server and annoying them by asking mostly anything. She even told me they stopped having things I asked about for over a year now, which I saw on here that that's not true. The item in question was still around 29 days ago. This isn't the first time I had an unpleasant experience here, which is not fun. This is a great shaved ice place and I would love to keep coming here. Ultimately, my visit was soured. Overall, I still think this place has great shaved ice. But if you're someone who gets nervous or asks a lot of questions, I would tell you to go elsewhere. Relatively new spot! After Hanji/Sweet tooth closed down in Davie, I have been on the search for the next best asian style shaved iced dessert shop in South Florida to fill that craving. This definitely checks all my boxes and then some. The next best place I can think of is the Japow cart in the design district; however, this takes the cake by orders of magnitude. The shaved ice is like light, flavorful, and refreshing! Every single flavor we have tried have been absolutely delicious and the best part- it's not too sweet (this is an ultimate Asian compliment for any dessert) ! They offer a wide variety of flavors with delightful toppings with red bean and milk pudding on the inside. The shaved ice is so soft and fluffy and every bite is perfection. Instead of coming just in a paper bowl, this one is set on a wooden tray, with metal spoons, syrup and milk, bubbles and mochi, as well as a cup of hot tea to warm you up! Do try to bring a friend or two along, as the portion is really huge. It's priced at about $16 for a shaved snow to give you some idea it's not your average ice cream cup. This one is served in almost like a ramen bowl!! I do wish they have smaller portions, for when I am dining solo and can't finish the whole thing. This place was seriously a 10/10! So, 9 years ago, I visited Korea and the locals there took me to a great spot to get "patbingsu". It did NOT disappoint. Me and the hubs DEVOURED it. There was fresh mango on top and hidden under the ice and they served it with fun toppings on the side, like boba, sweetened condensed milk, even black tea which was a surprisingly satisfying pairing. And what was great about the fruit is that I could tell that it was in season & fresh. It didn't taste like the barely-there frozen mango they put in smoothies. It was sweet, soft, not hard, The place itself is very clean and modern and it was relatively quiet when we stopped in. The owner was super sweet and accomodating. The employees working there are friendly and helpful when showing us the menu options, and then again when handing over the shaved ice and explaining all the sides. We decided to try the mango shaved ice, and you CAN NOT go wrong with this...unless you do not like mango. This was one of the best mango desserts I've had in a long time! Piled high, the shaved ice had some mango pieces and mochi pieces below it and drizzled with a mango syrup and some mango pieces on top. When the employee handed over the order, he explained the sides that were on the tray. These sides consisted of jelly, another form of mochi, a cup of tea, condensed milk and another type of syrup. He recommended we use the condensed milk halfway through. We were eager to dig into the shaved ice and it was absolutely delicious! We understood why the employee recommended us to use the condensed milk half way though because there's a level of the shaved ice where it's just ice and not much flavoring. We only wish the mango syrup used to top the shaved ice was also used in the middle to really enjoy the mango flavoring throughout the entire thing. The bowl of the shaved ice is large and sharable. I don't know where to begin, except that this is possibly the best shaved ice experience I have ever had. This delightful treat sits triumphantly at the intersection of shaved ice and boba, and somehow surpasses both in satisfaction. We ordered the Taro Taro and it was DECADENT. The quality of the shaved ice itself was perfect, but nestled within the ice were three amazing layers consisting of red bean, and couple subtly sweet paste/jelly layers that I can't remember but they were perfect. It was also topped with sea salt foam that gave it a perfect lift at the end of each bite. The little dishes of boba, taro jelly, condensed milk, brown sugar syrup, and black tea really elevated the experience and looked so polished. We ordered the mochi as an extra add-on. Overall, it's very clear that the concept of this place was well-considered and very balanced. My wife and I are so impressed with the dessert design as well as the informative and friendly staff! The mango was delicious and I really liked how they included toppings on the side so we could control what we added. Tried the mango bingsu here today and it was very yummy! I would have to say it is definitely the best bingsu in south Florida. It comes with a variety of toppings on the side like crystal boba, condensed sweetened milk, a light and thin caramel sauce and colorful taro balls along with warm unsweetened tea that you can pour the milk, caramel and crystal boba into and make your own boba tea!! The dish itself definitely didn't even need the toppings on the side as there were toppings inside the bingsu too such as coconut jelly or maybe fresh young coconut pulp. I loved the sort of deconstructed boba tea that the bingsu comes with as the tea is warm and a nice change from the cold and refreshing shaved ice dessert. I wish we had space to try the other flavors but 1 order seems more than enough for the 2 of us. Definitely will be back to try the Taro and Matcha flavors!!
