These are very classic empanadas. This is very much a no-frills place, but they definitely know…read morewhat they're doing. It's home to some of the cheaper empanadas I've had and the soups they have also look delicious (a meat soup and a corn soup). I came on one of my friend's last nights in Cordoba and we had a variety of empanadas. We all agreed the chicken one was our favorite. The flavor, with a little bit of spice, were perfect. The meat empanada was also good, but I would not recommend the corn and my friends said the ham & cheese was just ok.
This cute little corner spot has a lot of Yelp buzz, so it became a quick and Argentine-early…read moredinner (I'm home by 9). To start, I tried two empanadas. The criollo picante (spicy Creole style beef) wasn't particularly spicy or Creole. Blame Argentinian palates. The arabe (beef, onion, tomato?, spices, served with a lemon) doesn't even look like an empanada, not to mention it's got a lot of appt inside that bready exterior. That one was more consistent in content so I judge it the champion. Then came the locro. It's a bit salty for my taste, and there was more fat than meat. By a landslide. There were also bones. So a minus for meat but a plus for that wonderful choclo. Also, the place is a pretty decent value to fill you up for under $10 with tip (even with a beverage). It's a good stop for a quick bite for any meal of the day.

We got the papas bravas, so in Spain when we get them they are chunks of potatoes with a hot sauce/ketchup blend with loads of aioli. Here it was crispy fried balls of potato bathed in a semi spicy tomato aioli and topped with Parmesan cheese. Not what we were expecting but still delicious. We also ordered the Nachos Mexicanos, so since Nachos aren't reaaay Mexican food I think it's ok to play around with the name. These were just tortilla chips with dipping sauces of Aioli and a guacamole Aioli. Not what I would call Nachos but hey, us Americans ruin other cultures foods too, so who are we to criticize? As others have said, there's a great guy there, I think his name was Fernando, but he lived in NY and if you need help in English he's your guy.

Food will take a while, we came here during the week and waited around 30 minutes for our food prior to the wait just to order which took at least 20 minutes. So come with time to spare. Food was delicious I had the lomitos de ternera insurrecta, my bf has the hamburger. Bread was fresh crunchy yet moist. Combination of flavors were mouth watering. We drank the citrus water. Over all for cost and food it was around 980 pesos not bad at all for a very filling lunch.
