Taken to the pub area for a late lunch by my Czech friends while visiting Kutna Hora. Had the mushroom potato soup (a bit salty), spinach pancakes (packed with lots of spinach and tasty), and a Kutna Hora lager (a bit hoppier than the usual lager). There are some vegetarian options but not a lot. Czech friends thought the decor was a bit odd. After dinner, found out that they have a separate area around the corner that specialize in coffee and desserts. Had some of their macrons that were perfect.
Dacicky is an atmospheric Czech restaurant named after the writer from the town of Kutna Hora, and it had a lively beer hall setting along with traditional Czech dishes. To start, we had the Beef Tartare, an appetizer of fresh minced beef mixed with garlic and onions, and served with four slices of crunchy fried sourdough bread on the side. One of their most popular dishes was the Goulash made with chunks of wild boar in a mild, savory sauce, topped with a slice of apple and cranberry sauce. The stew was served with brown bread dumplings made of gingerbread and dried fruits including apricots and berries. The bread dumplings had a sweet flavor that complemented the meaty stew. Overall, the food here was decent and came at a fair price, though the experience was quite touristy.
The Best Goulash I've Ever Had. I visited this place in July 2018, and even years later, I can't stop thinking about their boar meat goulash with gingerbread dumplings. It might be the best dinner I've ever had in my life. (Nejlepší guláš, jaký jsem kdy měl. Named after 16th century writer Mikuláš Dačický of Heslov, a legendary lover of wine, beer and women. I selected a well-reviewed and truly unique menu item, wild boar goulash with gingerbread dumplings. It features fork-tender meat, and sweet but tasty gravy as well as beautiful mosaic-looking bread dumplings made with a variety of dark and light colored breads, and dried apricots and raisins. They're somewhat chewy and sweet, a nice counterpart to the gamey wild boar. Overall it was very delicious and extremely unique compared to traditional Czech goulash, but I would warn anyone against it if they aren't into sweeter meat dishes. I thought it was very good, but also found all of my neighbors' choices visually appealing, and would probably be happy with anything on the menu. I found the food to be extremely well-priced and generously-portioned. The staff seemed a bit unhappy in their jobs, and with a mainly tourist clientele I guess I'm not surprised. I'd say service was polite but cold, and sometimes impatient.
This is where we had lunch for our Kutna Hora day tour with Sandeman's. It was tucked away and in a corner away from shops and other restaurants. A bit rustic with a decent sized dining room it looks like this is one of the more popular places for Czech fare in the area. They had some vegetarian options but this place was more about meat dishes. Pork Knuckle (huge!), a couple of Duck entrees, Beef Cheeks & Schnitzel. Decided on the Beef Cheeks as I've never had it before. Pretty good with the potatoes and gravy and would say resembles a Pot Roast. They were busy and although the servers were friendly and doing their best, it took some time for some of the entrees and drinks to be served. Overall, tasty food with all of the travelers happy with their selections and one of the better meals I've had in connection with a tour. (Lunch cost not included)
Great atmosphere, fantastic service, amazing food, innovative recipes, delicious beer! We had a beer tasting sampler, wild boar goulash with purpenickl dumplings (wonderful!), traditional svickova with dumplings, potatoe soup spiced with garlic/marjoran (yummy!), potatoe dumplings stuffed with duck meat and served with deliciously prepared sweet cabbage, and other dishes (by the way the goulash has some appricots, I think? Yummy!!). The entire experience was awesome. Highly recommended!!
Yeah you can say this place is touristy or caters to tourists but that doesn't make it less enjoyable. The ambience is great and the food is really good. We got the mushroom potato soup and Moravian cream soup and both were delicious. Perfect for a cold day! We also got the potato pancakes as a side and they were cooked to perfection. And we got the fried cheese and it was very good as well. We enjoyed everything and the place is decorated very cozy. I would recommend.
We came with a Viking river cruises tour group so did not have high expectations but were pleasantly surprised. The light and dark house beers were excellent. The dark was our favorite. We started with the potato soup, which was a nice warm start on a cold day. Our main dish options were chicken with grilled vegetables and potato dumplings or roast pork with a plum sauce and mashed potatoes. Both dishes were good, not great. Apple strudel with whipped cream was our dessert. An ok option when visiting this ancient silver mining town.
People change their habits when traveling. My friends were shocked that I've become such a big beer drinker in Europe. Well, when beer is cheaper than water ... Watcha gonna do? While the beautiful garden area with it's communal seating will make you giddy with happiness, the best part of dining here is their Primator Weizenbier, its the BEST beer I had when I was in the Czech Republic! Hazy, rich and smooth with a spicy lingering finish. Like that hot Latin guy you didn't know you needed in your life. The wild boar goulash with gingerbread dumplings is one of their specialities for a reason: it's a HIT on the taste buds. However, skip the goulash in the bread bowl, it's too thin and watery. If you feel all that meat and carbs is bad for your heart, get their goat cheese salad to balance everything out. A memorable lunch underneath the trees with a cold beer in hand. Cheers to the good life!
Excellent service and the food was amazing. We ordered the platter for 2-4 people. It was good, but didn't look as good as some of the other meals guests were having. I would recommend ordering a couple of plates, maybe one less than a total number of people in your party, and eat family style. Outdoor dining under the trees was cool and a refreshing break from our walk.
Love the swords and medieval theme! This place is great. We started with the Camembert cheese, we ate it so fast I did not get a photo, sorry! It comes with a light rye bread and a plate of cranberry on a bed of salad. Delicious starter. To drink I enjoyed the Kutna Hora Lager and my wife had the mead. We loved them both. Service was very friendly and fun. We shared the goulash. Amazing and different. It is slightly sweet with a bit of heat. The bread is hinder, probably the spice that adds some heat. What do I know. But the meat is tender and sauce is so good. You want to lick the plate! No I did not do it. read more
Food was delicious and plentiful. Our guide told us to book a reservation in advance or you may not get a table. Especially on the weekend. Located near the church of bones (short driving distance) it was a worthwhile venture! FOOD: found it delicious. We had the "dagger" (skewered meat and veggies served on a cutting board) and the rolled deer wrapped in bacon. Both were great! The goat cheese salad was much bigger than anticipated but was still good. I loved the fries. They weren't crispy but had so much flavor. SERVICE: Wonderful. Did a great job handling our large group. Portions were plentiful. And everything was well seasoned. COST: Seems like a bargain for all you get! If you want some authentic Czech food for a reasonable price. You'll love it. read more

Least favorite meal thus far in CZ. Stop in for beer and move on. FYI, smoked equals ham. It was a bit too salty for me. In part, it was a wrong choice but the potato cake/rolls were also dense and had an unpleasant texture. The only thing I finished was the greens. read more

Great ambiance and the food was excellent and reasonable. We sat by the cozy fireplace. I think they cater to a lot of tourists but there were plenty of locals there when we were there as well read more

Yeah you can say this place is touristy or caters to tourists but that doesn't make it less enjoyable. The ambience is great and the food is really good. We ate here with a large group when in Kutna Hora for a day trip to visit the Sedlec Ossuary and other cathedrals. We sort of had a choice about where we went, but didn't know much about the town, so most of the group ended up eating here. A reservation was made, but due to a delay by an area bus driver, we were probably about half an hour late. We had decided on what food we wanted on the train on the way to Kutna Hora and our guide called in the order with our reservation. It all probably went wonky when we ended up being late.... Food took a while to come, as did the beer and beverages that were ordered. Water was brought for some people but not for everyone. It was very busy and we were told that everyone in tour groups comes here because it is the highest rated restaurant in the area on TripAdvisor. I feel like it's is a self-feeding circuit...the tour guides bring everyone here, this is the most rated restaurant on TA. The cycle continues. The food is ok. I liked the Czech places I ate at in Prague better. I got a vegetarian friendly dish, because I was hoping for something lighter, after several days of heavy Czech food. It was not at all light....but it was good. I got the spinach pancakes. They might be better categorized as spinach stuffed crepes....or for those familiar, spinach stuffed enchiladas/burritos. It was a LOT of spinach! As with every Czech restaurant, the serving is massive and the price is extremely reasonable. read more

We came to see the bone church and purchased the three church package for not much more. On the way to St Barbara's we found a lovely wine store (Vinoteka U Sv Barbory). After tasting wine, we realized a little food would be nice. He gave us a list of places to try and we ended up here. When we went in it was so old world lovely but they had a patio and it was a perfect day so we went to check it out. It was completely disappointing. It was a bunch of picnic tables in the middle of a black top "school yard playground." We went back in to enjoy the local color instead. And we did enjoy the color as there was a large tourist group eating inside. It was fun to watch the guide go from table to table switching languages to explain what was and what wasn't included in their meal, i.e. what they had to pay for. We all had something different. My son had the pork knees which was huge and really tasty. My daughter-in-law had the goulash which was always good in Czech Republic as well as in Germany. My husband had the Schnitzel and I had the ribs. They called them Sedlec Ossuary ribs and everyone else cringed... so yes this is a tourist spot, lol. Everything was wonderful and they got us out in time to get to St. Barbara's before it closed as well. Very fun. Very delicious. Worth the visit. read more
As part of our Kutna Hora tour, we came to this award-winning restaurant. On this place's door, there are many stickers of TripAdvisor winner awards, and I knew that this place would be good. We tried the traditional Czech dish that consisted of the stewed beef, potato dumpling, and cream sauce. It is amazing but very heavy. In addition, this place's portion is HUGE. One of our tour mates ordered 8 dishes because he had a family of 5, but they could barely finish even 4 dishes. I also recommend you try the mushroom soup with potato dumpling. This is also a traditional Czech dish. If I were to come back again, I would try the fried pork chop, which is large and looked amazing. It is like pork/chicken Parmesan without the cheese or pasta. This was the stop from our Sandeman's bus tour to Kutna Hora/St. Barbara and it was delicious. Get the duck which was perfectly tender and crispy on the outside. It tasted slow roasted and it was the envy dish from the group. The wild boar looked heavy with the gingerbread dumplings. Another favorite are the ribs according to Martin, our tour guide. Kids ordered the chicken schitznel which came with a big side of mash potato. It's a big flat breaded chicken breast enough for two to share. The soup looked good, but in a hot day, it's not so practical. Quick tips: 1. Use the restroom when everyone is eating, because when everyone is done, the women's wait is long. 2. There's a chocolate shop outside if you want a little treat. 3. There's a kids playground outside and if it's a nice day, sit there under the trees. 4. Service staff is very nice, prompt, and good looking. read more

Ate here after visiting Sedlec Ossuary. It was such a cool dining experience. The food is delicious! Still one of my favorite meals from my Europe trip. Good beer selection. The place has a lot of character but they aren't trying. The mermaid chandelier is gorgeous. The waitress' are pretty hot too lol read more
