I used to love this restaurant but in the last year the quality of their food has taken a serious nose dive. First they start putting extra sauce on the Sicilian pies to keep you from realizing that they cut the amount of cheese in half. Now they've raised the prices on their heroes and cut the meat in half! Instead of getting four meatballs in a meatball hero you now get two meatballs cut in half! And don't get me started on the chicken cutlet hero which had four pieces of chicken strips hardly enough to cover even half the sandwich and the meat tasted stale. To the owner I say if you think you're saving money by cutting all these corners you're wrong because now you're losing customers so there will be no money coming in at all!!! read more

I paid 29$ for shrimp scampi entree with no pasta. Because I added 2 vegetables (each for an up charge) the dish it didn't come with pasta. When I called to ask about my missing pasta I was spoken to in a condescending tone and hung up on. I'm not sure if this employee was having a bad day or what but he hung up on me for saying just how ridiculous that was for pasta to not be included with the entree. Just let the customer know if their dish won't come with pasta, so they can pay the extra 25 cents for it. I just wanted pasta with my dish! The food was great but customer service is terrible. This was our first outdoor dining experience. The wait staff wore masks, the tables were spaced apart and under the tent you were sheltered from the sun. They had flower pots hanging and planters. I felt completely comfortable dining there. They gave us paper menus and I saw how thoroughly they cleaned everything. Since then we have gone back to outdoor dine and of course ... many take out meals. DaAngelos has the best Grandma Pie in my opinion. Since my childhood pizza has been my main favorite food, here at Da Angelo, simply one of the best pizzas if not best pizza i've ever had. My family found this place during our random pizza place trying excursions around Eastern Queens and Northern Nassau County. Their pizza is crispy and rich in flavor just the way I expect it to be. I've had their rigatoni primavera and penne alla vodka pastas too , very delicious. The service here and the staff is very friendly as well. They have a small parking lot too which it makes it convenient when you come for a visit, rather than looking for street parking. I feel pretty obligated to write a review for this amazing place! Usually, my husband and I go there for the Alfredo spinach pizza, but we also celebrated a very special occasion here as well! We had a small civil ceremony in Hempstead in April and after, to celebrate our marriage, my husband called ahead and arranged lunch for us and a few of our friends. It was so sweet. They set up a corner for us and lined the tables with linen and brought in a beautiful flower centerpiece for the table. I couldn't believe they were able to transform the place so nicely. They were sweet enough to throw in dessert for us and the owner came over to wish us a happy marriage. It was absolutely perfect! They made everything feel so special. When we were done looking at the to-go menu we wanted to call but noticed there was no number or address (we know the address) so ok we do what most people do and did an internet search. We get there and comment to the young man behind the counter that the phone number and address aren't on the menu and we get a really contentious and snappy response WITH HIS BACK TURNED TO US of "YOU CAN GOOGLE IT!" But the portions are small if you take out (other than pizza). If it's small, then please put it in a smaller container at least. I'm writing this review not because this place is usually horrible by any means, I've been going here since I've moved here in 07. Yesterday at 2:30 in the afternoon I ordered a $19 dollar Grandma pie, overpriced but usually really good and a $13.95 Large Caeser salad, extremely overpriced not even any shaved parmesan cheese, literally half a head of Romaine and 10 crotons but their dressing is beyond compare. Now keep in mind, the shop is only 2 blocks from my house, the reason I even had delivery is parking is a real pain in the ass, especially now that half the lot is dedicated to outdoor dining I waited ONE HOUR AND 15 minutes for my order, got a SMALL Caeser Salad, which they did make good on, and an ICE COLD $20 DOLLAR PIE, which I mentioned on the phone. I paid a $1.00 "service" fee,a $2.00 delivery fee, and gave the driver a $5.00 dollar tip, so for $40 something dollars I got no service and an ice cold pizza! Thanks, see ya soon, NOT! read more

The pizza comes and it looks like a regular grandma slice and it's good, except for the dollops of tomato (idk, sauce, crushed, homemade?) and they are spectacular! Then he says "The stuffed eggplant is really good" Answer: YES! Well it's good, eggplant is tender, cheese is gooey and it's not a stuffed eggplant, it's some doughy baked thingy stuffed WITH eggplant. Actually a little bland so we get some Marinara to slop over it. (Hey, ever hear of salt, pepper and garlic?) A little espresso and we're done. Service is quick, efficient and friendly. Came in last night and the environment food and OUR waiter was nice but we had a lady come in with my friends and Is plate full asking if we were done but when we said no she gave us a rude look and walked away and told her friends in Spanish "one is eating and the other is talking I wanna go home" she wasn't our waiter she just brought out the food gave us dirty looks and rushed us twice thinking I wouldn't understand what she was saying to her peer in Spanish. They have the perfect balance of salt in their dishes, not like other pizza places in the area that tend to make their pizza too salty to tolerate.
