I met Alan Moyle of Photobat almost a year ago, when we were seated together at an event he was…read morecapturing. We got to talking and I had a look at his portfolio work as he had his iPad handy. From his wedding photography to portrait work with Australia's top comedians, I was immediately taken by his photos and knew right there and then that should marriage or family photos ever be in my future plans - Alan would be the guy I'd hire. His wedding photography is beautiful, but anyone that can capture 'funny' knows how to show personality in photos, and that's what I was really impressed by. Since then, I've worked with him on numerous occasions through Yelp events that he's shot for me, but this review is for my personal experience with hiring him for photos to announce our elopement. Alan treats his clients like his friends. It's not just me, that's how he is, he cares. Which means he's never afraid to have a joke with you and he'll never let you look ugly in photos. I couldn't stand the idea of a cheesy portrait shoot holding hands on the beach, so Alan helped us come up with something really fun and cheeky that was more 'us'. We're both pretty awkward when it comes to getting our photo taken, but you wouldn't know it from the pics we ended up with. Our family absolutely adore the pics and were thrilled to receive them - which definitely helped with breaking the news that we got married in secret! Having hired him for this moment I can see why he talks about his clients like friends and why they like having him there for all the big moments all the way through (marriage, kids portraits etc).
For as long as I can remember I dislike having my photo taken. That one on one intimate space…read moreinvasion kinda freaks me out. The tidious time of moving a leg here, raising the chin, lowering your left ear... The list goes on. So when it came time to have professional business style photos taken I knew that we couldn't go past Alan for his friendly and supportive manner and more importantly his efficient and professional service. Alan was an absolute delight to work with. We had three directors from very different backgrounds and very different expectations. Despite my reassurances most had blocked out a good two hours to get these photos completed. Within minutes Alan had people smiling, photos taken and worries washed away. The images we received within days of our photo shoot. Should the big W day ever come my way I'll be making sure Alan is there. Even if it means the dates are set around his schedule.

After seeing Simon's website and then meeting with him I knew he was EXACTLY what I wanted and more!!! Simon has an amazing gift of capturing each special moment throughout the day in the most beautiful photos. Simon made taking all the photos as stress free and painless as possible and he made everyone feel at ease with his great sense of humour and easy going nature. Simon was very professional throughout the entire process even when I had a few "Bride-zilla" moments!! Our dog even fell in love with Simon and loved him taking her photo during the morning when the bridal party was getting prepared! For what you get Simon's prices are very reasonable (don't tell him that!!) and now 6 months on I don't even remember the exact costs/details BUT I do know how much we and everyone that has seen them... When our wedding photos arrived from Simon we were just taken back to our special day - from leaving the house (and the realisation my father had left his flies down!!) to the lovely old church, to my husbands (I love that word - husband) parents' beautiful garden and finally to the reception in our garden. We could remember every moment, every detail, through Simon's fantastic story in pictures and we laughed and we cried all over again .... All our friends and family thought Simon was a relative of mine from the UK because he just was a part of our day and as a result everyone just relaxed and enjoyed it. We have wonderful memories of our happiest day together so far and we know in the future when we find an old photo it will take us back to that day and that moment and no doubt we will laugh or cry all over again... Talk about sensory overload!…read more As soon as we walked in we could smell the delicious black rice and soft-shell crab paella being prepared in an enormous pan by the fabulous Andreas of Comida Bebe. My eye was then instantly drawn to the cleverly curated wall of prints, particularly Rona Green's "Latti" tattooed cat, which I would have also loved to take home.. To top this all off, (we do love a cheeky Thursday night cocktail), two West Winds Gin libations, served in little Alice-In-Wonderland style "drink me" medicine bottles, were on offer to sip while we perused the art. Also worth a mention is Cleopatra Jones Modern Macrame - currently coveting an amazing black pot hanger, which was ingeniously displayed as a fish bowl holder, love it!
